Club ownership | Senior management team talk

If only someone had the big billions to take us
Like who after Bezos has got involved with Liverpool, the best hope is we get a company like Apple to get involved but they won’t because as a business, United is a basket case?

It potentially could turn over £800m/$1billion per year in turnover and have to service a debt of £1.29 billion and with new interest rates of 5.36% up from 3.79% to kick the debt down the road to 2031, that means that instead of paying £34-35m of interest just to service the debt, they now have to pay £47-50m just to service the debt the Glazers saddled us with!

Having that sum of cash available rather than servicing a leveraged buy out would basically mean we could probably spend £100-150m on new players per summer?

Buying more young elite players each window, would mean we would have more opportunities to sell better players for more money.

It’s clear that SJR/Ineos and the Glazers do not have the money to truly turn this club round so they should do the right thing and sell the club at a lower price due to the chronic mismanagement under their stewardship, enfact the UK Government should get involved and state that any leverage buyout must have the debt completely paid off in a 15-20 year period or the government seize the Club and sell it to the highest bidder with the debt included in that sale price!

Sell out to an oil rich owner at this point. The only way to to compete with those around us who spend £300m+ every window. Don't care about the morality of it now. We aren't competing for big trophies playing by the rules.

Yeah I wish I had the answer as to who I just know that this shared ownership was doomed from start

Timely reminder that our CEO said in June that we're supposed to compete for the league this year and win it at the latest next season. To follow these statements up with such an abject failure of a transfer window should dispel any notion that these Ineos stooges can or should be trusted going forward. The team has been precariously left short again and just a few unfortunate injuries, fatigue, or a loss of form at the wrong time will most likely make us miss out on the Champions League spots. Something apparently so vital to the club's financial health, that not having access to that revenue stream can only be considered catastrophic in regards to any ambitious plans and goals the club might harbor.

Jim and his minions are not here to make Manchester United successful again. They are part of the problem and fully complicit in the Glazer's miserable, dysfunctional and greed-driven ownership of this football club. The sooner they leave again, the sooner actual change can happen. As long as they are here, we remain a crippled, sad shadow of our former self.

Will be waiting a long time for change sadly

„Judge us at the end of the window” - Berrada, 4 weeks ago

People could see that this was going to go badly as early as when Ederson was targeted.

That was shouted down by sections of the fanbase who echoed Berrada's argument.

The argument always seems to be to wait and see, with unerring faith in the club leadership, despite watching the same pattern of incompetence and mediocrity every season.

At some point those shouting down others as "moaning" should realise that it's not "complaining" - it's simply pointing out maladaptive patterns and incompetent decision making that means the club has little chance of climbing back to the top of football.

The fact that Manchester United has no ambition to compete on a football level with the top teams should hurt fans. The Glazers and Ineos' goal of simply qualifying for the champions league is not something to rally around and support.

The club has been dismantled as a football institution and turned into something unrecognisable.

I can’t help but feel that Carrick has been hung out to dry here, setup to fail

Yes. It has been a massively underwhelming window. I got suckered in for a couple of days thinking the Santos/Tielemans out of the blue double was somehow a shrewd and inspirational operation. Quickly wore off. Always felt shocked we gave Tielemans a 5 year deal at his age. Santos cost 50m, that's a lot of money, three times the price of Chema Andrés and 10-12m more than Sangare. And the backline has not changed at all.

Panic attempts on deadline day and a complete failure to secure outgoings.

Sangare and Chema are deals which sting a lot, could have rebuilt midfield even cheaper INEOS. Would have left money to sign a LB as well which makes it worse.

Simply kick them out. We need a management team that has the ability to transfer all talks to actions. The more players City or Arsenal or Chelsea sell with great fees, the more disappointment I get from the management.

Look at what happened to the transfer market. City sold an average player who barely score goals for 75 millions, Chelsea sold Delap for 50 million. Why we could not even sell Zirkzee for 30 million? What happened to our management team? We decide to keep Zirkzee because of love?

And we have been talking the left back position for years and they had a whole summer transfer to find a successor to Shaw. At the end, we still have to trust Delot, Mazraoui, Martinez, Heaven, Amass, and Leon(?). Think we better pray Shaw and Martinez are injury free this season. Pray that Amass and Leon grow rapidly this season.

In the year we secured champions league and team needed a clear rebuild, 3 promoted teams out spent us.

To have the same backline 2022 and 2025 is mind blowing, for a club that has had no success over the last decade.

Maybe I'm getting old, but who did we sell for €55m?

We are a shambles of a club. We've done the bare minimum this window. Absolutely no chance of getting CL again, let alone God forbid actually winning something, with that squad.

This table tells you everything you need to know about our club at the moment. Carrick came in and gave us a golden chance to try and solidify and consolidate our position as a Champions League level club. Instead they've shown no ambition and gone out and hung Carrick to dry by penny pinching as befits a club that's happy to compete for a spot on the top half of the table.

I'm furious.

This club is not run by serious people.

I noticed frustration against Berrada and Wilcox, but I wonder how much they can do when they are operating with handcuffs.

We were interested in Anderson, Bouaddi, Mateus but outplayed by opponents and also tried for Hall but Newcastle didnt blink, I know if City wanted Hall they could have spent 70M and got their man but everyone should accept the harsh reality that we are not that capable anymore.

The only blame is at least they should have few reasonable gettable alternative options to fill in the gaps, especially in defense as it is going to be a long season,

I think we will be playing second fiddle until we have a competent owner.

Its evident to me that Jim bought united to show off to his mates and to further increase his public profile.

He says he's a lifelong united fan but alot of the decisions he's made to me goes against what a united fan would do eg pulling the ex players charity fund.

But then if I were in Sir Jim's shoes I wouldn't have given the glazers a lifeline in the first place, it would have been an all or nothing takeover, not give them a pile of cash and keep control of the club

Oh does that mean it's our defence for the whole season? Thanks I didn't know the season was 1 GW long.
It’s highly likely to be our first choice because our team selection consistently points to that being the case. The sarcasm isn’t a good look when the truth is so obvious.

Lenny Yoro made 32 appearances for us last season.

What on earth are you on about?

People can bury the heads in the sand on here and believe Ineos will be able to lead us to glory while spending a quarter of what our rivals do, but you need financial muscle to compete consistently at the very top. We used to have that, now through mismanagement it's gone and won't be back unless we did get sold and the debt cleared but it's not going to happen. Bar us being bought by an apple/Disney as some sort of pet project we have a new level

Excellent post. The goal post seems to keep moving to whatever Ineos is doing at this current moment so they can, for some weird reason, be applauded for it.
We where indeed told to wait to judge and now its suddenly moaning when its pretty clear Carrick has not been backed properly by the owners.

The midfield transfers we have done seem quite sensible, but we are woefully lacking in our left back position and its been repeatedly targeted already this season, despite only being two matches in. And Sesko is our only real striker currently.

Just ignoring our 3 atb for half the season
Yep and the fact Martinez gets injured a lot. Since Carrick took over Martinez, Maguire and Shaw have started every single game they were fit and available for. Dalot has started 14 out of the 19 games so he’s the closest to not being a sure thing but still pretty close.

United are one of only a few clubs that can compete financially from legitimately generated revenues but we are in a period of cash flow difficulties thanks to silly transfers and time out of Europe.

Our belts have collectively been tightened (though somewhat countered by more expensive Glazer debt..), we've avoided silly deals in favour of more sensible transfer policy and the squad has improved. More to go, but will take time to generate cash reserves again.

He started 6 games under Carrick and that was due to martinez' injury

In 25/26 season:
Yoro made 11 appearances under Carrick
Heaven made 6 appearances under Carrick
Maz made 11 appea under Carrick

De ligt was injured and he is our mainstay when fit.

So what is pretty clear is the poster and yourself were whipping up yet another fake narrative to suggest we haven't bothered improving our backline since 2022. That is certified nonsense. As is the notion that we enquired ourselves for Ait Nouri on deadline day - another fabrication you backed.

You talk of people burying their heads in the sand. They're actually covering their ears from made up drivel.
