It's not "winning" though by doing nothing.

At the end of the day, China needs to do something.

Both US and China are on a long path of self-sabotage but through various different ways.

US is sabotaging itself geopolitically, and China is sabotaging itself internally. The two are very interconnected, and you cannot maintain geopolitical gains if things at home are very shaky, and vice versa.

As for who is fecking itself more? Who knows to be honest.

US has the problem that things at home in the long term don't look fantastic either, but it has a much larger starting basis. I guess it can be summed up as US is falling quicker than China, but US has far more rope.
 
Trump ordering the withdrawal of military exercises with S Korea sure once again sounds very ...odd.

My bets are on China launching attacks right after the midterms - assuming the Dems win a lot - and lo and behold Trump and co will blame it on them. Most people aren't paying attention to Donnie playing directly into their hands for years now.

What's this based on? The PLAN and PLAAF isn't ready yet.

There's been no uptick in Chinese military preparation level, nor any large scale formational movements, no strange buildups or anything of the sort.

After the midterms is literally 75 days away. If something was going to happen, you would have seen something by now. Regardless of US down-scaling annual US-Korea exercises, there are still almost 100,000 US troops permanently stationed in the region.

Even short of short-term readiness, it hasn't reached strategic overmatch on US forces in the region yet. Their own goal is to reach this by the early 2030's. Doing anything now could result in a very painful slog.

China gains nothing from trying to get N Korea to cause chaos. North Korea is a bit of a pain for China, but an annoyance they have to tolerate to avoid US influence on a direct land border.

So what's happened that makes you think China is readying itself for a conflict in less than 3 months?

Who? Taiwan? South Korea? Japan?

I don't expect you to believe China are not that bad, but surely you believe they're not that dumb? They're enjoying 20 years of economic golden age, and they want to self destruct... for?

China will not win in an open war, not against the combined force of Japan / South Korea / US and her allies, and even if they have hegemony back home, why on earth would they push the mutual self destruct button? Because some content creator in youtube says so? A war against any of the surrounding nation would create a total naval blockade, the economic alone is enough to self destruct.

You guys are funny. Since when is open war the only way to attack another country? Even the US isnt doing that with Iran. Look at the thread title. China is very well capable of attacking another country without a full scale assault. China has been practicing for taking over capital cities like Tapei and control the center of power in covert and blitz operations. Or are they building a copy of Tapei in the Chinese desert for fun? But they may await the Taiwanese elections and see if they can convince the opposition/pro Chinese side to win. Trump already made it clear he doesn't care about Taiwan or is is looking to avoid conflict.

And what the US is doing with Iran is monumentally stupid. It's only hurting the US and their allies except Israel. Iran is a great case study in why China doesn't need to attack anyone to keep gaining geo-political benefits right now. Trump is scoring more long term own goals than any US president in modern history.
