Cole Palmer

A promising but not great English player that Chelsea want rid of, who has a questionable fitness record.

Sounds familiar.

We have Bruno and Mount as #10s(Bruno always plays anyways), and Amad and Mbeumo as RWs. Unless we are selling any of them, there is no place for Palmer. Be fr.
Mount
Like I said Mbeumo and Amad are inconsistent , Mbeumo was shocking today ….So do we just ignore trying to improve our squad just because we have player a amd player b already ?

Yes, save your money to fill the gaps in the squad rather than buy an understudy to Bruno
He would immediately be an upgrade on Mbeumo and Amad on the right if you take into account their club form since January.
Long term he would fill in for Bruno, let’s face it Bruno isn’t going to be playing 50 games a season forever

We’re not going to get Sir Jim’s dusty chequebook out for an injury prone player that had one good season

Nah. At his best he’s a player who can singlehandedly dominate matches and win them on his own. This idea that he’s a pen merchant is silly.

As a creator, as a dribbler, and as someone who opposition managers always have to plan for makes him hugely valuable even without his penalties.

Nah, he isn’t that good. Many, many games pass him by, especially against good teams. He has some great moments, but without the penalties that have inflated the numbers - those moments would be held in a different context. He’s not this 150m player people make out, he’s far closer to Rogers’ level (his sensible value of around 70-80m, not this stupid one).

At the end of the day, the player people claim he is doesn’t get left out of a World Cup squad.

His ball retention is excellent. If he's available for 50m, we need to get him.

Surely we can pick this guy up for a low fee. Bad season, no World Cup.

Cmon. Cheeky 50m.

I don’t think we’d sell for £150m, never mind £50m.

He's not good enough to begin with, if he was any good Chelsea wouldn't need to drop a British record to get Rogers.

Never going to happen but I’d take him over Rogers every time. I am a moron though.

Have you seen his numbers over the past two seasons. They're going backwards from his very good year three seasons ago.

Iirc he was still fantastic 2 seasons ago. Next season is a big one for him. If he's shit again, he'll be labelled a flash in the pan.

I like him more than Rogers but Rogers is probably a safer bet. I think Palmer has higher highs, but his fitness and level are a bit questionable at the moment. He's almost certainly too expensive to consider anyway really

We already struggle to get players to maintain the level they showed at their previous clubs, yet people want us to spend big on players who are already out of form, like Palmer and Baleba. It's like some people don't understand the pressure and expectations that come with playing here.

25 goals in 23/24, 18 in 24/25, and 11 last year. For comparison, Welbeck at age 35 had 14 last year. Palmer is still a good player, but he's also massively overhyped relative to what he's contributed recently.

Why has this been bumped? I can't see any links here.

If I'm gonna follow the trend of any potential United links here, then yeah absolutely go for it, if we can get a good fee.

I rate him, think he's a bit unfairly maligned for no real reason, and he's from Wythenshawe, so I'm guessing he's probably from a United household, seeing as that's not in the UAE.

I think it's fairly naive to think because Chelsea have paid eight billion pounds for a decent midfielder that they now have to sell, if that's the reasoning behind it.

They and City are quite beyond those rules at this point.

There's no way. They bought him for 40 before he had barely played a full game and before he exploded onto the scene. They'd want triple that now.

He's my 2nd choice for a long-term Bruno replacement if Bellingham isn't possible

He played 26 league games last season scored 10 goals , Mbeumo had 33 league games scored 11 , Amad had 32 appearances with 2 goals. Granted he was at wingback for a while under RA

Let’s be realistic he’s not going for 50 milion with what’s happening with transfer fees this season.

Cole Palmer is an excellent player. Not
many sides wouldn’t need a player of his calibre.

I am not exactly keen on signing players who are surplus to requirements at rival clubs, if that’s even remotely the case despite their deal for Rogers.

However, if there was a possibility of getting him then I would say he’s definitely worth chasing.

He is capable of things not many players are. Knowing us though we would pay a premium to get him and play him out of position most weeks and lambast his output.

The last thing we need is another number 10 ...also apparently we're skint as we can't even fill the positions we're desperately lacking in quality and depth like CM/LB.

Knowing Man Utd though I wouldn't be surprised, just like when we decided to buy Mount for no apparent reason when we had much higher priority positions to fill.
Admitedly Mount was a Glazer signing but I don't think Sir Jim is any better.

If this lot were trying to build a sandcastle they'd end up on a pebble beach.

Mbeumo was much better than Palmer last season. There is a lot more to come from him Sesko and Cuhna this season. He had a blip towards the end but both Amad and Mbeumo are quality players.

I don't understand why people think he will be available. Surely with Alonso's 3-4-3 and dual no.10's the plan is to play both Palmer and Rogers as both are opposite footed. Which I think is quite is quite good tbh.

I'm not a fan of his personally.

No thanks.

We need more dynamic players in attack. He's not really that at all.

You’ve got to factor in the discount clubs would be entitled to on account of his haircut. That would knock £40m off at least.

We've got no issues with the flanks. What we do have an issue with are the fullbacks who provide zero support in possession. Shaw is slow, Dalot isn't great while Mazraoui's crosses are meah. I'd say bring Hall and another RB and let's sell Marzaoui to Milan.
