6 European Cups to 3 says otherwise.
Also not quite sure where you get that assurance from, given we'll be just one league title behind if we win this year.
It's not like we're clawing back from 7 vs 18 or something improbable like that.

The League Title trumps the CL. We will still be on our perch even if you win the next 2 League Titles. We'd just have to share it with you rather than stand on it alone. We won't be shit forever though. If you want any chance of standing on the perch alone for any significant length of time you are going to have to win a fair few titles under Klopp. Much like us with SAF, it took you a very long time to get a manager who could deliver the title. It could be the same again when Klopp leaves.

All this talk of Scouserpool winning the league. Yes it looks rosey but you win nowt pre Xmas but you can certainly be out of it.

Three scrappy wins & within that huge luck to turn 2 points in 6 = errors. The argument is that they are not playing well so they can only get better. I stated end of last season that you can knock 10 points off their 97 last season = enough to give Citeh another title as I still see them hitting 90+. A couple of injuries etc & they will drop points guaranteed.

The only issue I have is VAR, as with all their diving last season (Fabinho v the Mags, Salah multiple times) I thought hey ho thats 12 points gone but no it will the chuffers to still con refs even more after the Leicester game. Pretty bonkers that any ex pro can say it was a soft one. FFS he dived after minimal contact. Cheating in any sport is bad but FIFA have had 25 years to sort this out very simply via a red card (even retrospectively) and a 5 match ban. This would stop it instantly.

If City beat them at Anfield, City will win it, imo.

With the problems City have in defence, it's not probable. It's not impossible though. Compared to Leicester City have a much better attack, especially if KDB is fit and in form.

Liverpool win this game and only a really bad injury crisis could stop them from winning the league.

Klopp is leaving in 2022 (said as much) so you'll be fine. That said, I can see us winning one, perhaps two titles by then.

Perhaps Gerrard will step in. Right now he's nowhere near managing a club of Liverpool's stature (no disrespect to Rangers, they are big but LFC are huge), but he's definitely making all the right moves. Either way, the days of Fergie domination are long gone and it will never happen again if the football demographics remain as they are.

I agree that Utd are still on the perch, and it was a daft thing for Moores to say. It was nice winning the ECL for a sixth time though, but as Shanks said, the league title is our bread and butter. I couldn't care less if we were knocked out in the group stages if it meant concentrating on the league title. That's what we want. Everything else is a distraction.

What would you have rather won last season? You'd trade any of the Champions Leagues you've won for a PL Title.

League titles only trump European cups if you've gone decades without winning one.

I'd trade a European cup for the next PL title. Rather win the league and then cl than two league titles though.

You would go out of the CL group stages and concentrate on the PL?
This is your golden time. There will never be a time when all the top clubs in the PL and Europe are so poor. You should be thinking of taking advantage and wining the lot. In our Fergie era, a PL title alone would be classed as an ok season.

We've not won the PL in 6 seasons but i'd still take the PL over the CL. At the end of the day the CL is a cup competition & it's not always the best team that wins it.

Re the perch, with that logic Liverpool were still sitting on it in 2008/09 when you joined us on 18 titles which is absurd as Liverpool had long since relinquished their position. Also bear in mind that United have not won a league title with anybody other than SAF since 1967, whereas If Klopp wins it this season he will be the 5th manager of Liverpool to do so in this timeframe. They say no one man is bigger than the club, but in SAF this may be the exception.

The way it works is that whoever holds a record has the right to be acclaimed as the best ever until that record is broken. Bob Beamon held the long jump record for over 20 years. He wasn't even competing in this event for a long time due to retirement. He was still acclaimed as the best ever for over 2 decades. The record was eventually taken by Powell. He too has now held the record for over 2 decades & is acclaimed as the best ever. You were on the perch alone. We then joined you when we matched your 18 titles. We didn't knock you off the perch until we had won 19. In turn you cannot knock us off the perch unless you win 21 before us.

It was not that SAF was bigger than the club. He was the greatest manager there has ever been. This is taking into account his early years & then his time at Utd. This is borne out by the fact that no other team has dominated the PL. It is only since he retired that Leicester & Liverpool (likely) have won the PL & City have retained it. We will eventually find the right manager & win the PL again. We won't dominate as we did as it's unlikely we will find a manager as good as SAF. The fact is nobody will.

They will win the league and to be honest its kinda what we deserve at this stage given the shambles we have become. My only hope is that Pool winning the league actually becomes the proper catalyst that forces the powers that be at our club to finally enact some meaningful change for us to get our sh*t together finally (here's hoping I know)

In a world of my own. People know me here.
I'd certainly trade an early exit from this season's CL for a PL title. But no way would I swap one of our 6 big ears for the Premier League. Too many great memories for me who's old enough to have witnessed them all. I'm also old enough to remember how blase you can become as a supporter when you see your side winning league title after league title. Winning the European Cup/Champions League is basically sudden-death most of the time. So when you get through all that & end up lifting the trophy it's nothing short of euphoric. You can experience something similar should you win the league the way Arsenal did in 1989, or City back in 2012, but by & large winning your domestic league generally gives you a strong feeling of satisfaction, along with bragging rights through the summer & beyond. So yeah, the next trophy I'd love to see in our cabinet is the PL. But for me personally, & I'm sure I speak for many Liverpool fans, I have a this indefatigable obsession & love affair with European football.

CL trumps PL by a factor of 3:1 in my opinion

We only want the PL to shut everyone up about 30 years and counting but after that I'd take CL every time. It's the prestige that comes with it. Few in Europe know about Trevor Francis or Brian Clough but they all know the name Nottingham Forest.

Perhaps we'll win them both this season! Only slightly kidding; we failed to do that by one point last season. That said, I'd happily bow out in the group stages if it meant accruing more league points this season than last season's.

Nah. Your poor record in Europe would see you well below us. I think one of SAF biggest regrets is not winning more than 2 European Cups. Don’t you agree?

All united fans know deep down the champions league is the much bigger trophy worldwide. When a league title is won it's only really a big deal in that country, when a champions league is won it's a big deal everywhere.

Also the number of chance to realistically win the champions league is much smaller. Juventus have 2, compared to countless league titles. United only have 3, even Bayern and Barca only have 5 compared to their umpteen league titles. City and PSG have none. As a previous poster said a champions league win is worth about 3 league titles going by the number of times clubs tend to win either.

It would be interesting to know the thoughts of young and older supporters as concerns which they deem to be more important, the ECL or the PL. I'm guessing older supporters like myself would look to a Premier League title.

I suppose it depends where you've been least successful.

Aren't there any Liverpool forums you lot can go and hang out on? Why would you want to post on the forum of an irrelevant Mid table team when you can be with your own kind. Even when we were winning everything I would have never dreamed of joining a Liverpool forum and acting like an obnoxious bell end.

City can do what they want. They’re a nothing club injected with steroids and if they win another title I couldn’t care less.

Liverpool however; well i’d rather eat a tramps crusty boxers than watch that lot win a PL title.

I have to say, as a Liverpool fan, I'm surprised by how much I log into RedCafe. It's certainly not because we're 'winning everything' because we're clearly not. The fact that our club feels like its in the best shape (Owners, Manager, Players, Scouting, Commercials) for 30 years is brilliant, but even if that weren't the case I think I'd still be on here watching Man United go in completely the opposite direction. I think the term is 'schadenfreude'.

Granted you've had six years of fairly mediocre results compared to when you were at the peak of your powers, but put yourself in my shoes. Imagine you have another 24 years of mediocrity with your arch-rivals winning year and year. Suddenly the tables are turned! I'd assert you'd peeking into their forum to enjoy the 'banter'.

I think you can get lucky winning the ECL, especially because of the knock out stages, but you rarely if ever win a 38 game league title campaign because you were predominantly lucky. So for me, winning the league a more accurate measure of a team's ability.

It's true that Leicester City won the title one season but then finished in mid-table mediocrity the next season, but I think what was more to do with them losing key players like Kante.

I don't think anyone would ever deny that the Champions League is the biggest and most prestigious trophy in club football.

I do tend to think that seasons where you win the Champions League but are not the best club domestically have a little bit less gleam.

Why do people have friends even when they have best friends and family members they can talk to? Because if you listening same talks, views and thoughts, they get boring.

More often then not your best friends and family members say exactly what you want to hear, more often then not they agree with you without much fuss. Everybody likes confirmation but it gets boring after a while.

Whereas listening to other's opinions and ideas on same topic, is much more stimulating, sometimes hurtful but you always learn alot whether about yourself or others.

I think that should answer you question.

Also some wise old man somewhere once said "Keep your friends close and enemies even closer."

I have no issue with rival fans having a discussion but most of these Liverpool fans that have suddenly appeared are only here to rub our noses in the fact that they are quite good for a change and we aren't, not to discuss football in general.

Might as well turn the forum into a Liverpool one at this point, because it certainly doesn't feel like a Manchester United one, let alone being worth of calling it "the leading".

You are on 2 CL titles same as us. You won 4 European Cups previous to the CL incarnation but this was a different era. It was easier to win in those days as there were less teams in the competition.

It's hard to proclaim yourselves as the best team in Europe when you are not even the best team in your domestic league. It's an anomaly we have with the new CL format.

That's a load of shite though. If the CL's weren't as special to us there wouldn't be the previous "we won it 5 times" chant (now 6). I'd take beating Madrid's 13 record than any amount of league titles.
