Predominately?

Anyway, I agree. Patriotism is pathetic.
Well.. There are a lot of poster from Ireland and Northern Ireland. Think 99% of us are happy for McGregor. It's hardly pathetic to start a thread on the internet about him?

Yeah. I thought he could have been a bit leaner. Maybe he wouldn't have punched himself out in the middle of the fight. Doesn't really matter now as he did spectacularly well to win the fight in the end.
Maybe. Big units like AJ tend to have that gassing issue. That why I wondered if Conor had been lifting too much.

He looked way bigger than Mayweather that's for sure. In any case, with McGregor it didn't matter that much as he's always had issues with cardio.

That's such bullshit comment. If you got into the ring with a professional fighter for 9 rounds you'd likely end up with brain damage.
1. "Warrior mentality" is not defined by how many rounds you make

2. That's not how it works.. If you're in there for 9 rounds, it means that the ref think you've done well enough to remain in the match for 9 rounds. The ref will not allow one boxer to punch the other one for 9 rounds straight without any response . He didn't even allow Floyd to punch Conor for more than 1 min without response before he declared it a TKO.

For that amount of money, whether it took me 1 round or 10 rounds (before I got T/KOed), I would show "warrior mentality" during the fight.

With all respect, I think you're missing the point. It's easy for us to say - id do this for £60 million etc.. but the truth is, them guys have spent all their lives aiming for this. Saying you'd go into the ring is doing anyone with a martial arts a disservice. Just my opinion though.

I'm not taking anything away from Conor. He earned his money. I'm actually a HUGE Conor fan.. In MMA..

I'm just saying that using hyperbole nouns to describe his effort is taking it too far given the fact that most people would do it for the same payday. And whether I'm a martial artist (which I am btw, not professionally though) or not shouldn't matter..

If you are competing then you should know the dangers of combat sports.

In any case - this thread turned into a black hole. I just wanted to see who thought the same - that McGregor did well, considering.

He admitted himself that he has cardio issues now. Knowing him he'll work on that more.
He's been working on it extensively since his loss to Diaz. He's brought in specialists to improve his cardio. 18 months and it's still an issue, he just doesn't seem to be built for endurance at all.

Interestingly, I remember in the build up to the Diaz 2 fight, Chael Sonnen and Eddie Alvarez were talking about how it takes years and years to improve your cardio to fight at championship level, that he couldn't turn 8 minutes of energy into 25 minutes of energy within the space of a few months. In the end he seemed to gas at the same 8 mintue mark again but hung in there and found a 2nd wind, but everything looked very slow and sloppy from that point, much like last night.

:lol: FFS. He lasted exactly how long Floyd decided he would last.
Nonesense. He even said after that he expected to get him out of there around 6 or 7, but he was surprised he was able to last a fair bit longer.

He was hitting him with unanswered power shots in round 9 and 10 because Mcgregor was so fatigued he couldn't defend himself, and he still couldn't put him down. The idea that he could have ended it in the 1st round "if he wanted to" is pure and utter bollocks.

Although I rooted for Mayweather I have nothing against McGregor - he's a phenomenon in the UFC - but I'll never understand why so many people feel compelled to root for an athlete, who competes in a sport they have very little interest in, just because they share the same passport.

It's like all the Norwegians - who know feck all about cycling - that goes bananas when Boasson-Hagen wins a stage at the TdF  Or the hordes of Norwegians who were just outraged that Johaug got suspended after failing to read a huge warning sign on a tube of cream.

That's is something that a person has little control over. It's actually quite bizarre - my colleagues have far better bleep test scores - yet I'm considerably stronger, fitter than they are.

@MaxiPaxi and fellow McGregor arse-lickers, what do you make of his pre-fight antics? Do you not cringe at all at the misplaced arrogance, the tasteless displays of wealth and general obnoxiousness?

Its hilarious that in 2017 people still hold fighters accountable for their pre fight behaviour / shilling.
Unless there is genuine hatred then everybody is in on it. Ellerbe couldn't stop laughing at his antics while Floyd visibly cracked up at a few of his performances

Weird that you're not interested in cycling in Norway after having an icon like Hushovd and with Kristoff having such great seasons a few years back. You could be a proper cycling country if you wanted to, but I guess it's just not in your DNA? I've always thought it's very weird how Englishmen are not into cycling despite them having Sky, Wiggins, Froome, Thomas, Cavendish, ...

That's kind of what I mean, I'm not going to get into a sport just because a talented athlete share my passport :p

Edit: I personally have an interest in cycling, but that got nothing to do with nationalities.

But yeah, Norway could be a force in cycling if the interest was there, but it's not that big yet.

I can't remember why I joined this war.
Pretty much. The McGregor cult is out in full force.
I thought it was quite strange. Every expert agreed at the very beginning that this fight was nonsense and McGregor wouldn't stand a chance against one of the best boxers ever. Yet the media frenzy and McGregor fans somehow convinced almost anybody that he actually stood a chance, just because he is a lot younger.

Just to be clear I'm not trying to trash McGregor or anything just the circumstances of this always being nothing more than a show fight, Mayweather would have stood just as little of a chance if they would have gone for MMA instead of pure boxing, probably even less.

With the amount of money they made with this fight we might even end up seeing this.

His biggest accomplishment would be him changing the purse structure in the UFC - currently Dana/UFC is taking too big of a chunk, that needs to change.

Surprised McGregor hasn't called out Money to a MMA fight to make it even - the money they'd make on that would beat this one! He was never going to win this fight but absolute praise to the guy for lasting 10 rounds and stepping into the ring, which would probably have been 2 or 3 rounds had it have been a couple of years ago with Money still at his peak.
Yeah a lot of people would pay good money to see Floyd get embarrassed in a cage, but it's never gonna happen.

Plenty of press today about Conor getting in a scrap last night.

I've heard this morning that the lad he punched was a main man in the Kinehan gang. Apparently he's in a lot of trouble.

Not quite the main man but close enough. I’ve posted an article in the Indo about what (allegedly) happened in the MMA thread.
Just read that there. Sound like the lad has gone off the rails altogether. There's an audio message doing the rounds from a North Dublin Garda who claims your man has demanded €900k or he'll do what this particular gangster is allegedly famous for doing in retribution.

This could cause him major hassle, the kind of hassle where money and fame isn't going to help him.

Have at them Conor, 1 scumbag at a time.
Could you imagine what would happen if they did have a go at Conor? The scrutiny that would bring? Theres names out there already that the scum wouldn't want spread about.
He's also best friends with the gangster former owners of the UFC, maybe thats given him a lot of fake confidence
