Apparently we tried to sign him on loan and Bayern want to sell him. Not sure if he's the same post-injury, but a lot to like about a Tolisso-Fernandes pairing in front of a 6. Lots of balance, energy and both are good finishers. If Pogba leaves and we sign Sancho or another right-winger, can't get Grealish and want to play 4-3-3, this could be a nice move for us. Could even maybe do a loan and option to buy type deal.

He’s a good player, one of those type of run up and down doing a bit of everything midfielders that the PL loves.

Reminds me a lot of Wijnaldum. Type of industrial midfielder every team needs and I wouldn't mind it if he rocked up at OT.

He's decent, but there's probably a reason why Bayern want to sell him. Only a dozen league appearances in the last two years? Could be another crock

I was wondering when this would come up here. The news about United inquiring about him only popped up the last couple of days.
He had two major injuries, I believe, in his Bayern time so it is hard to judge his potential as I don't think I ever saw him perform at full fitness. Also bayern had no shortage of alternatives for his position up to this winter break, that's why he wasn't allowed to leave, but he seems to be on the list for the summer transfer period when Bayern needs to free squad space and salary budget for Havertz, Sane, Messi and Ronaldo, apparently:lol::eek::houllier:.
I recon he will be a decent squad addition for any top club willing to grant him time.

Kind of feels like a much of muchness type of player.

One would assume he’s more talented than Fred and McTominay but if he’s an all-action central midfielder he’s basically doing the same thing we already have. Just at a slightly higher level — when he’s actually fit.

I’d much prefer us to get some sort of ‘specialist’ players in central midfield. A dedicated defensive midfielder; a no.8 who can pass from deep etc.

I think the case for him as a fit is that he could be a nice all-around #8 alongside Pogba or more likely Bruno as the most offensive CM and then Fred or McTominay would be our #6.

But there's definitely a case for us to buy someone like Neves who can pass from deep and just have him and Fred hold basically and let a front 4 of Rashford out left, Bruno behind a striker, a 9 and a RW run riot in front of them.

Was initially keen when I saw this, but I've decided he's a bit too similar to Fred and not quite what we need.

How’s Thiago been getting on this season? Injury record, performances etc?

no injuries i believe, has been meh under Kovac, benched the first few matches under Flick, which seems to have had the desired effect. Been an absolute beast since, ran the show like a boss. Would be madness to sell him imo, in that form there are few in europe who are better.

He's been a powerhouse of late. Looks like he hasn't signed a contract extension at Bayern yet. If we're smart, we'd go in and get him. Imagine a midfield of him and Bruno plus a DM (Niguez, Zakaria, Camavinga). That would be a madness and rival any midfield in the EPL.

Yeah thanks for the update. Always been a massive fan.

Have we ever sold a player to Bayern. I can't think of anyone at the moment.

Good box to box midfielder reminds me of a more technical version of Herrera in a positional sense but less dynamic in the tackle. He has a good range of passing, can shoot and transitions the ball from the midfield to attack well. He would be a good purchase for any club in the league if Bayern are looking to sell.

Not sure we need more midfielders, but would still take him. Although not sure Pogba or Bruno on the wing is ideal.

Can't imagine we'll bother going back for him in the summer. Would have been a good winter signing though.

He had an ACL in the last season - short after the World Cup - and this is the comeback season after a successful surgery that is the comeback season that always is difficult.

Bayern has a packed midfield with many options - that makes it always difficult for somebody that was out a year and who has a similar skillset to others. With Kimmich playing in midfield now that even got more difficult. Put Thiago in who for me is essential as creative part and let there be 2 healthy wingers so Müller is back behind Lewy and there is no spot left for any of him or Goretzka.

It is even easier for him in the french national team where he is a very good replacement for Pogba this season.

I like him, but is he really needed? He'd play the same sort of role as Fred and McTominay.

We don't need someone that will spend more time in the infirmary than he will on the pitch.

Hargreaves won a champions league with us.
Sorry missing your point? We paid a very large fee for a crock and Bayern knew he was a crock, same as Bastian.

We've won heaps of trophies with Jones, does that mean he's been a great signing?

The point is he was good for us and contributed to us winning major silverware. Good performance in the UCL final. So although I can see the parallels to Jones' time at United with the injuries, I'm missing your point as one was key and they other was a passenger.

By far the best penalty in the final too!

I can't see Ole signing an injury prone player. We've had too many of them for years.

I think he's cognizant of this and he sees it as an important area to improve on.

Every player hes signed here has a basically spotless injury record and is available every week.

Yeah, we seem to be really be looking at the player's background in depth, including injury record. Every signing thus far has been excellent in that regard.

Feels good to have players we can count on to be available, I always find it weird when I see some fans hoping the club takes punt on the likes of Tolisso or Dembele as if they will just magically get over their injury problems when they play for us. In fact looking at our record, it will likely get worse.

Lesson number 1, no matter what happens never NEVER buy timeshare accommodation.

Lesson number 2, don’t buy from Bayern.

Corentin #Tolisso has a Bayern exit voucher this summer. Bayern requires at least 35M € . Manchester United and Inter Milan are interested in the profile of the former Lyonnais. Manchester United even started discussions with the entourage of the midfielder. #RMCsport

If he regains fitness, he could be serviceable at best. He's had major injuries the past two years including a knee injury that saw him miss the majority of the 18/19 season and ankle surgery this 19/20 season.

Didn't think he was all that good in the World Cup when in the same midfield as Pogba.

His Bayern contract is until end of June 2022. So if United is able to negotiate a lower transfer fee and a reasonable wage, then maybe. But I feel like the club can identify a better player at a similar wage.
