Seems like the virus is here to stay for a while. How will football handle all the outbreaks?

How will European/international games be played? The CL qualifying draws have been a complete mess in terms of every country having restrictions to lots of other countries. Neutral venues?

Will games be postponed if one of the teams can't play? Or walkover to the opponent? How many positive tests can a team have before their match is called off?

Will leagues agree on PPG in case the season can't be finished? Seems like there's very little margin with the season already being jam packed and the Euros pencilled in June (less than 9 months to complete the season).

What about fans?

I read today that Brighton are taking part in the pilot scheme and will have 2500 fans at their friendly vs Chelsea.

Also A deal has been struck to make all Championship, League 1 + 2 games available to stream. You have to pay though.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Still can’t believe the PL isn’t doing anything like that. You’re going to end up with hundreds of games played without fans and not on tv in this country either. Seems mad.

I think with the amount of players returning from so many different vacations there is a decent chance the start of the season will be delayed by a week or two. Could turn into a farce. They probably should have started a week or two later anyway so that every team could play the first gameweek in my opinion.

Spanish Club are more damaged then everyone else's . It seems Real Madrid asked their players for another wage cut and Barcelona are financial ruin. Valencia is also collapsing

If all these players are catching this as they come back from holidays and going into 14 day minimum isolation there's no way the season can kick off in September.

That headline is utterly ridiculous. Nobody at Chelsea has Covid. Even the article itself says nobody at Chelsea has tested positive.

The players who went on holiday to certain places are self isolating, as everyone has to do.
I think the "club" might actually refer to nightclub, not Chelsea

The PL is supposed to try it in October but Germany will( has?) announce that there will be no fans until 2021. Somehow i trust more the german way.
Imagine if during October/November, fans are allowed back in and it creates a spike in contaminations. Christmas lockdown will be a thing.

" Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has tested positive for COVID-19 & won't be in the France squad. "
Jose Mourinho is manager of Tottenham and French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele won't be in the Tottenham squad.

It’s important to not spend dumb money in the market in this period, player prices will fall in the next 6 months

Spanish banks will bail them out again.

Spanish banks which then have to be bailed out by us (North Europe) again.

You mean that the banks will be bailed out by the Spanish state who will be bailed out by other parts of Europe and in order to pay back the loans to the other parts of Europe the State (aka the banks) will be bailed out by the Spanish citizens?

Northern Europe can pay, they become rich being the biggest tax heaven of the world for holdings and big corps. No problem

Can’t read the article. Any mention if they can they can sell the rights to the additional games? May help clubs with the funding black hole they face.
Doubt it, a lot of countries have them all already anyway and the PL, being as rich as it is, would lose a lot of goodwill if English/British fans were forced to pay up. It's okay for lower leagues with ifollow as they desperately need that income.

Why the feck they have the audacity to go on holiday during this pandemic?? Even stupider, to fly outside of country.

The FA, the club, everyone responsible should've made these guidelines due to the short break before the new season. It's ridiculous and stupid.

I understand that they have so much money, they can go on private jets and party, but feck me. Just stay home.

Many people from all professions did that. Went to holidays, often outside of the country. If I was in Europe I probably would have done the same.

Seems shaming people taking trips is the new shaming people for sitting in the park or driving for a socially distanced walk.

I think the problem was that they didn't go on quiet holidays exactly. They went out partying in large groups as they would any other year. Look at what happened to Maguire. Sterling was at Bolt's party who then tested positive and now you have this business with the Chelsea lads. Rashford and Williams were also spotted socialising with Maguire so it's possible they were with the Chelsea lads too as Barkley was with Maguire at some points.

It will be interesting to see how many positive tests come up among the players.

Going slightly off topic but I cannot believe all of this travelling lark, spreading the virus country to country and seeing the infections rise again. Borders should have stayed closed until the end of the year, with only essential travel being allowed.

Open borders aren’t the reason the infections are rising again, it’s people’s behaviour and quite simply, no longer being in lockdown.

We’ve never closed a single border here, our authorities believe in open borders and our infections have dropped and dropped and dropped since March.

It is within the topic, rich people think they can do anything. Travelling within the country is fine, but throwing parties during this difficult times?

What happened to social distancing? They can just ignore that?

It’s not just rich people man

There have been reports absolutely everywhere of parties and illegal raves that involve no rich people.
That was always inevitable though, people do dangerous shit in normal times and travel to places with Malaria or jump out of airplanes, climb mountains etc. People, especially in the younger bracket were never going to distance for a year or two.

It’s 40% extra games and they’re saying none will be free to air this time so supporters are already going to have to pay for them. At the current cost per game that’s a giveaway to Sky and BT worth 1bn. And clubs are paying them a 20m rebate. Seems very generous to me.

Oh I hadn't seen that they'd said none would be free to air.

They have stopped protecting players highly now it seems. Lots of players infected recently.
