Everton - Newcastle postponed too.

for clarity they should make it public the covid / injury cases a club has. They don’t have to name the covid/injured players but just give us the clear info.

So when they play you again they might have Mbappe. Think they have pulled a fast one here.

How do the Premier League decide whether to postpone a game?
There is no threshold of positive tests that must be reached for a game to be postponed. Instead, the Premier League weighs up each individual situation before making a call.

A team could return six positive tests, for example, only for the match to proceed as planned because the results are spread among players and backroom staff. But another side could confirm three COVID-19 cases, all of which impact first-team goalkeepers, leading to a postponement.

If the Premier League board, based on the evidence they had seen, believed that there was not enough to suggest a postponement is necessary, then the match would go ahead.

Should the fixture remain unfulfilled for any reason, the Premier League board would meet to decide the outcome of that game.

How many Newcastle players are out with Covid?
Don’t think it’s that many, it’s the 13 available that’s the problem with their injures from last night which makes a mockery of the rule

Alisson and Firmino didn’t train today which has me thinking the worst.

After the next game we got a week off, will they add games into this?
Was just thinking this. Neither Brentford nor Brighton play in the League cup semi finals, so surely one game can be played on the Thursday, 6th Jan?

So they shouldn’t be. Newcastle are getting this called off on injuries and suspensions. The entire rule is fecked
Sure they'll want this, few quick deals with their new oil money in January, then they are able to play again.

Yeah this is totally unfair.

Just deduct points for teams that can’t play. Same rule for every team then. We all have youngsters to call on ffs.

Apparently the game is called off because a Newcastle player was booked in the last minute v us and has to serve a suspension. It’s ridiculous

That’s mental. Surely this should be for Covid reasons only.

Teams with significant injuries will just take the p*ss like Newcastle clearly are here.

Trying to get the Chelsea game rearranged for after AFCON, smart move.
Those players can all play.

Suits us to have the ACON players playing just as much as them, I'd take facing Salah and Mane if it means Mendy in goal instead of Kepa.

Not at all. They have the afcon boys whereas Chelsea have a lot of injuries and are in a bad place.
Probably why Klopp wants it on!

There needs to be some more transparency here, including a rough breakdown of numbers of Covids (obviously no names). Suspensions and injuries shouldn't be counted at all imo. It should only be cancelled if Covid has ripped through the squad or if there are ongoing new cases and the PL/ the teams are not sure they've controlled the outbreak at the club.

Palace have already shown how much some clubs are going to try to take the piss by trying to get the game called off and then having the gall to turn up to the match with a full squad.

Honestly I feel that any team that requires a game to be postponed deserves to have the game considered as a 3-0 loss.
So if United suddenly get 28 covid cases you'd say we should forfeit or play the u13s?

It’s insane that a competition with such high stakes can’t handle this in a transparent manner. If x% of your first team squad will be self isolating (due to a documented positive test or confirmed as a close contact) on the day of a given fixture then it can be postponed. If x is below that % then you play or forfeit. It’s not fecking rocket science.
