A much needed 3 points and hopefully a big confidence boost for the lads.
One step at a time. Bournemouth is now a must win, otherwise we could slip right back down into the bottom half again.

We’re only 4 points above Newcastle and 5 points above a relegation spot. All the teams below us, apart from Brighton, lost or drew this weekend. That’s a double win for us. We needed 3 wins out of 5 and with a bit of luck, we’re on the way. The reality is the squad is still too thin and we’re still weak in a few areas.

We need Leicester levels of confidence and commitment to overcome those deficiencies.

If we need to win the Europa league to get into Champions League next season, we will have to get players in here in January. We will also need a second half of the season free of injuries. We are very thin in midfield and forward line.

This thread is incredible. As of this season in the league against the "big six/seven" we: beat Chelsea 4-0; Leicester 1-0, ended Liverpools win run with 1-1(could have won) and had a 1-1 against Arsenal;. A couple of bad games against poor teams when we had 11 injuries and we are relegation material?:houllier:

Sack Fergie sell Giggs!

With upcoming games against Spurs and City, it pains me to up this thread. We are 6 points above the relegation spots as of now. I suspect more points dropped in the upcoming week; confidence is low.

We could be in quite a state by the time the Everton match comes around. I thought we had turned a corner after Brighton. Clearly not.

Since Fergie left we have turned so many corners we are the only spiral in the league. Utd need flushing, out with Woodward and out with the glazers. Unfortunately until there is a captain sailing the ship to a destination fans deserve, then all we deserve is playing in lower leagues because in the Prem we are a laughing stock. We have become a team every other team looks at to get possible points. Gotta sell these morons on and replace the whole infrastructure.

Although I don't think we'll get relegated, this season is turning into a complete embarrassment.
My mind always goes back to Nottingham Forest around 20 years ago who were far too good to go down, but the results just didn't go their way.

Relegation 6 pointer coming up against Everton. Still the Ole faithful will be spinning it in some exciting way I suppose.

OGS has the ability to get United relegated, no question.

Agree with most of what you say particularly the parts in bold but I think are too good to get relegated.

Hey. Watch it. If you don't support Ole as Manchester United manager, what's the point of watching football at all?

You should never say never. History proves that it happens rarely, but better teams than this United side have been relegated. The players have never been in a relegation fight before, it's not easy to fight for your life in the bottom of the table.
That being said, I just can't see it happening myself.

If we do go down, the price of the championship tv rights will go through the roof. I guess we will be doing our part in spreading cash through the lower leagues.

Agree. Also if we go down, which I don't expect and really don't want to happen. The Glazer's may decide to sell the club.

Its not gonna happen but just the fact that its not the most ridiculous idea anymore is an chilling indictment of our current state. Its football and anything is possible. If Leicester can win the league we could go down. It would need a perfect storm. Lower clubs playing out of their skin and us getting loads of injuries and capitulating. We have Fred and Periera in midfield now. If say we loose Fred the only midfielder then what. Lingard and Periera midfield? It could happen.

We are not going to get relegated but we could be looking at a few years of mid-table mediocrity which is going to to be soul destroying. It a vicious circle now , the more you fall the harder to attract the elite players and without these players we just stay very average.

Mid table teams get relegated quite often so if united becomes one, relegation would be a distinct possibility.

How in he name of feck has this got to 18 pages, state of this place at times, embarrassing.
Because we are 6 points above relegation zone and our next 2 games are against Spurs and City (both probable losses). We have a Championship / League One manager in charge and a board who don't have a clue.

While the chances of us going down are very slim, it's hardly all rosy in the garden is it?

We are a safe(ish) mid table team , could possible challenge for top 6 but that is about it. Very very unlikely to go down even with this squad of players.

To think of the near billion quid spent on transfers since Fergie stepped down , plus one of the highest wage bills in Europe and yet look what we have to show for it now , has ever a club wasted so much money on so much dross.

We are not getting relegated because even though we have a useless manager who is dragging us down to relegation, players are better than that. We will finish closer to relegation than TOP 4 however, that's for sure.

Glasgow resident these days.
Cardiff were relegation fodder before Ole took charge of them. He just didn't help them do anything other than confirm they were crap.
We won't go down - there are far worse teams than ours, given the players we have available and to come back.

Of cours we could not, teams get usually relegated with 33-34 points (18th team), but we are still closer to relegation zone than TOP 4, not even mentioning TOP 1 and thats embarrassing. After one year with Olé we are somehow at worse spot than last year and we are going to play against Spurs and ManCity. Why are they talking about three years plan when its obvious that Ole doesnt even have a one match plan...

Look at the current table, Southampton and Norwich are both in the bottom 3 - both these teams have won 3 games, united have won 4. Looking at out form since last march when Ole was made permanent manager, then yes we would go down. (6 wins in 22 games ) Thats a fact.

Spurs and City next. Loose these that would make it just 4 wins in 16 games this year... we are already sat on the stat of worst ever premier league start for this club.

No one is too big to go down.

They weren't relegation fodder in the Championship when he took over and they spent heavily in the Summer. He drove them to being relegation fodder in the Championship as well. They were 17th when he was sacked.

I think the championship has a 5 year deal in place with sky but if we went down it could get renegotiated. Would be great to see Neville doing punditry for United championship games, "People upset at this result haven't been paying attention to how good of a structure Luton have put in place and how much money they've spent recently".

Quite scary when you put it like that.

Whaaaa, our players are better than that?. What team are you Watching? The worse thing is we have poor players who think and are constantly told they are so amazing. This makes them even worse than the mediocre talent they are. At least if they know they are crap they can adjust and at least put a shift in. Parreira is the only one who knows he is mediocre so at least he tried. The problem with being mid table is the position bounces from week to week and if the last day of the season catches you on the down bounce you are playing championship Football. The whole club needs flushing, but this is easier said than done.

This is the strangest league at this stage of the season, with it being so tight from 5th spot to the relegation zone.
By 14 games in, there is usually a bigger difference in points.

There are only 6 points separating Spurs in 5th place, from Everton in 17th...
and only 8 points between Spurs and Southampton in the relegation zone (18th).

Spurs (5th) are 12 points below Leicester (2nd) and 12 points above Watford at the bottom (20th).
So 5th place is halfway in points terms, between 2nd and 20th place !

We (United) are 20 points below Liverpool (1st) and only 10 points above Watford (20th).
On the negative side, we are only 4 points above Everton (17th) and 6 points above the relegation places.
On the positive side (if there is any) we are only 2 points behind Spurs (5th) and 8 points behind Chelsea in 4th place.

Mathematically and on current form, every team outside the top 4 is in a relegation fight; however it's unlikely half of those 16 teams will face a relegation battle come April and May.

So will we get relegated?
Well 4 or 5 games ago, it was a very distinct possibility. Today it's much less likely, even on current form over the last few games.
The next few games could, or very possibly, change it back again.
Spurs and City look worrying, especially City, where I fear our goal difference will be completely wiped out by a big score.
Following those 2 games, hopefully with Scotty McT back and if Shaw can get his good form back, we can cling onto a mid table place.

apart from Liverpool the rest of the league are pretty much average anyone beats anyone on their day. Anyone from 4th down wards could be in trouble.

Pretty much only way we're in a relegation conversation is if Pogba spends the rest of the season injured, which is pretty telling.

Leicester, City (not great for being City) and Chelsea have done well too. Then there is a gap down to the pack.
