Cracking match and what a final over from Shami! Great innings from Williamson but again they fall at the last hurdle from a winning position against a team that fight till the end.

Forget SA, New Zealand are the new chokers. They've bottled so many games in the last couple of years.

I miss the days when bowlers would at least attempt a yorker.

Shami, you beast. Sharma is the biggest hitter ever. Has like 120 sixes from his last 60 games.
Has played a lot more games than others

81 in 49 innings over last two years in ODIs

Gayle had 78 from 24
Morgan has 60 from 35

Those are the top three

T20 (ignored an Irish and Scottish cricketer in 2nd and 4th)

He has 57 from 35
Munro 43 from 24
Finish 42 from 25

With Rahul making the opening spot his own I will not bring back Dhawan, at least not in T20's. The team is slowly shaping up for the T20's, I would say even the ODIs with Pandey and Iyer may be finally solving our middle order woes.My preferred line up for T20s going into the WC would be

Rahul
Rohit
Kohli
Iyer
Pandey
Pandya
Jadeja
Shardul (not a big fan of his bowling but he can hit some mighty blows)
Chahal
Shami
Bumrah

I know Pant would sadly miss out but Pandey and Iyer have shown they can build and can be trusted to build an innings which Pant has failed to do.

Thats fair enough. But the biggest difference is his average is absurd in ODIs over that time. He hits big whilst scoring big.

Yes it is in Aus. Kuldeep can be a better option but in T20s he has always been underwhelming. Unless another spinner does really well in this IPL or we see a resurgence of Ashwin in limited overs then it will be either Kuldeep or Chahal.

Looking back that team, I'd drop Thakur as well. Play an extra batsman and maybe Chahar has to be there. I'd even see how Rahul (Chahar) does in the IPL.

Going with just 5 specialist bowlers can be suicidal, one bowler has an off day and we are done. Chahar can replace Shardul as he is also good with the bat. Dube needs to develop his bowling a bit more and maybe he can add that extra option to have. We badly miss some batting allrounders. Strange how many we used to have in Gangluly era, Sehwag, Sachin, Yuvraj and even Ganguly himself were more than decent part-timers. A cheeky part-timer who can get you even one or two overs would be immense

Yeah, I know. Where are all those crappy off spinners who could do a job?

Just reading on Reddit that Unmukt Chand plays for Uttarakhand but not playing well for them.

Just weird how seemingly talented kids fall off their projected trajectory. I saw that world cup and I remember thinking 3 batsmen - Unmukt Chand, Prashant Chopra and Baba Aparajith were good. Must be a decade since then and none of them made it at the most senior level.

This u-19 Indian batting side reminds me of the one that got knocked out in QF 2 or 3 world cups back, which I think had Vijay Zol, Sanju Samson, Sarfaraz. Samson was already a known player, but did not perform well in the WC. Zol and Sarfaraz had lots of hype, but they looked pretty normal.

Shubman Gill was there in the last one and he looked leagues apart.

Bangla are going to win this unless Jaiswal does something extraordinary.

Way too many extras conceded. That's going to end up being the difference I'm afraid.

some brave consolidation from BD batsman Emom and Akbar. Have taken the game back to evens.

50 runs out and its all to play for on both sides .

Matured performance by Bangladeshi batsmen, especially their captain. Could be huge for Bangladesh cricket.

And thats that.

Massively historic win for Bangladeshi cricket and will inspire a new era.

Perhaps not close to Indian standard in mens game yet, but these kids will certainly help the team on the rise!

So proud of this team. Cant wait for next ICC 50 World Cup!

Saw very little of this world cup - the Pakistani player Haider Ali looked impressive.

Always been my favourite stadium in India - the noise levels felt insane. 110,000 should be incredible.

Shaw has all the talent but he needs to learn to stay in the pitch more. Plays too many rash shots.

Is Division 2 really as bad as being made out in the comments in this thread? Who are some players who've been selected in the basis of division 2 performance for the national team?

I know Labuschagne played there and made 1,000 runs.. any English players recently?
