Cristiano:
Complains about how Man Utd are disrespecting him, Cristiano Ronaldo, by putting him on the bench

Also him:
Moves to a random nothing club in Saudi Arabia nobody has ever heard of
Has he moved yet?

Wonder what first attracted him to Al Nassr?
350m contract they offer would ensure him being top of the list in yearly Forbes highest paid athletes in the world, over the next 2 year or so.

I believe that would be one of the very few motivations left in his mind, apart from winning the WC, or extending his goal records in CL etc.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic tbh, money would be the only reason to go there

Point me out any young kid growing up in Madeira, kicking a battered old ball up and down the cobbled streets and lifting imaginary trophies who didn’t dream of turning out at the Mrsool Park stadium?

The scenes if he goes to Newcastle.......................... and then sits on the bench because they have Wilson and Isak

And I'm one of the biggest Ronaldo fans going.

Another one bites the dust.
I love how everyone says “he’s a great player” and then say they don’t want him. Even Joe Cole was drooling over him and then when asked if he would have him at Chelsea he said no.

You could tell Keane was gutted when Cole said no.

He would start ahead of them regardless of form at Newcastle I think. It would be the worst possible thing they could do to sign him and disrupt their form, all for the sake of trying to elevate their club status.

I'm not so sure you know. I think Wilson and Isak suit them much better.

Oh I agree, I just think if Newcastle sign him then they will have to play him.
This would be a great move actually. He could well disrupt the dressing room their and cause some issues, helping us with the top 4 battle. Eddie Howe would definitely be against it but the Saudis might just overrule him for marketing purposes.

Lets be honest, no football club that wants to win trophies in Europe will sign him.

Not even Burnley.

Football has moved on, unfortunately, he wants to play a style that suits everyone but him. Its not the winning method anymore, football has become more a team sport than 1 outstanding player carrying the team.

Finally, Ronaldo is finished, he cannot run, control the ball or press.

You have a player now that is tough to play with modern systems, that almost all of the top teams implement now. On top of that he’s going to whine and create problems if you don’t play him constantly. If he embraced a bench role it’d fine, by we all know that’s not happening.

The Saudi club is the only way he saves face at this point. He can claim it was for a once in a lifetime amount of money and he’d be a god that would start constantly. The perfect convergence of ego stroking, play opportunity, and money.

It makes too much sense…I think he’ll actually do this move soon because the top clubs all starting to publicly state they don’t want him for “free” is going to start get embarrassing for him…

I hope he goes to Newcastle. He might even go up in my estimation for indirectly boosting our top 4 chances.

A Messi - Ronaldo rivalry, even if its in an octogenarian stage would be an immense boom for the MLS and football in America.

Well yes, but nothing the new regime there has done so far suggests it’s the sort of move they are likely to make.

I completely agree.

When they face each other especially. It'd be a must-watch for many football fans. And it'll be broadcast Worldwide. Would do wonders for soccer.

I don't see it happening though. I can't predict Ronaldo any more because he's become a twat, but I think he'll join a Champions League team as he still seems to see himself as the best player in the World.

But will any CL team make an offer for him? So far it doesn't look like it.

His last real shout has to be Roma. Mourinho is one of the few playing the style he suits and both Abraham and Belotti have been abysmal this season. Reuniting with Dybala in Serie A may be attractive to him and he might well put up respectable numbers which would help to save some face, not to mention the potential of a revenge tie with us in the Europa League if both sides progress.

Was literally about to say Roma too as a potential club when you made your post. Still think the Saudi team will be more likely though.

On a free and 6 month deal, I'm sure they will.

Gives them the initial buzz and the talent and he leaves before the drama kicks in too much

I know they've denied it in the past, but I see a return to Real Madrid materialising

Hasn't he burnt bridges with Jose?

I remember this quote:
I had only one problem with him, very simple, very basic, which was when a coach criticizes a player from a tactical viewpoint trying to improve what in my view could have been improved. And at that moment he didn't take it very well because maybe he thinks he knows everything and the coach cannot help him to develop more.
I seem to remember Ronaldo answered with a withering quote of his own. I also remember Jose wasn't overly keen on Ronaldo's pitch side antics during the Euros final.

Probably right from a system standpoint, but I doubt Roma have the funds to satisfy his salary "needs". His ego is way too big to take a massive pay cut to go to Roma...

Perhaps, but I think from around the same time, possibly even the same interview, Mourinho supposedly said that working with Ronaldo was the highlight of his career.
https://bleacherreport.com/articles...-cristiano-ronaldo-is-highlight-of-his-career

Since then Ronaldo has said Mourinho was the best coach he played under:
https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...-news/cristiano-ronaldo-man-utd-news-23976859
Speaking back in 2018, Ronaldo named Mourinho as the best manager he’d worked with. Asked about a potential reunion with his former Real Madrid boss, Ronaldo said: "Work with Mourinho again? Why not?

“I would put him at the top, I always say that. I have played for so many great coaches, but Jose Mourinho was a big thinker analytically, he went into everything in great detail."

No chance Perez takes him back, even for 6 months.

So peak Ronaldo, the Madrid Ronaldo, you think today's teams wouldn't want that Ronaldo because he's not the winning method?

Is this the peak Ronaldo? No.
Obviously not but your initial point wasn't Ronaldo's decline being the issue. You said the game has moved on. Said it's not the winning method anymore to have one outstanding player being the focus.

So my question was peak Ronaldo, the outstanding player, you think the game has moved on and teams wouldn't want that guy?
