YESHHHHH, We'll GOOO for it.
1. 500m earnings in 2.5 years playing in a desert at lower standard football, in a country made of oil. You probably don’t want your children to live/go to school over there. You basically end your football career the moment you sign the paper, it’s a great business deal though.

vs

2. 40m earnings in 2.5 years playing in some mid table clubs at top league but without any hope of landing major trophies (ie Newcastle, Roma etc). But you still get all the media spotlight.

vs

3. 20m earning in 2.5 years playing in a farmers league (top 6 league) with some hope of winning domestic trophies, getting some CL appearance and extending his career/CL record (ie Sporting)

Hmmm difficult decision right? What would you choose?

Will be interesting to see how the Ronaldo fanboys react. They say Messi play in a farmers league. What will Ronaldo play in then?

I feel a bit sorry for the Al-Nassr players. Imagine having this ego maniac turning up on millions more than you are, automatically starting every week no questions asked, waving his arms around at you because you can't pick his forehead out with a perfect cross when he's surrounded by 5 defenders, stropping around the pitch because he didn't score a goal or claiming that the tip of his hair brushed the ball on it's way in... nightmare.

Ronaldo’s been playing in the best league as a farmer.

Just imagine all the arm waving and back chat he’ll be giving his team mates because they’re shit.

Exactly my thoughts, if he gets in a pap that Bruno or Shaw can't pick him out then imagine some of the service he's going to receive over there

fecking left the club that made him, earning half a million per week by the fecking way, to play in the fecking desert? Couldn't help the team grow and be there for them because he didnt want to be a super sub., Absolute fecking ball bag.

If he does end up signing for the Saudi teams, all the Ronaldo fan boys who were out here saying... Ten Hag and United were at fault, they should have let him leave in the summer, all the lies they made up, can do one.

A player who is a free agent, can only get a Saudi club shows what his stock level is... No team in a competitive league wants him.

He isn't good enough anymore to play in the mid tier leagues, let alone the best leagues.

All those people who though, Ronaldo wanted to play CL, he cares about football were wrong.
It is clear he only cares about his inclusion in Forbes magazine.. yet we had him say "United is a commercial club"... the irony.

Thinks he's too good for our bench but the best club he can find is Al Nassr FC? What a plonker

Reality is he's finished in Europe, his profile is too big to play second fiddle anywhere and most if not all clubs are now wise to the fact he will demand to play at all costs.

Look at Portugal on Friday, he's 38 and he played a dead rubber fixture where half the team was rested. You aren't telling me he was played for any other reason than him being more powerful than their coach.

Why didn't he join Saudi club in the summer? I'm sure club wouldn't have stopped him if the offer had been reasonable
Doing all this shit to join them 6 months later, for what purpose?

Spot on. Looking forward to the fanboys defending this move.

Could be.

I kept thinking that it was all because he still thought he was the Best Player in the World (30+ goals for club and country last season in a terrible season for United was genuinely impressive to his credit) and he couldn't accept that his legs needed resting more now and he wasn't as important.

But maybe he just realises that he isn't going to be getting 30+ goals for his clubs any more in Europe and would rather do it where he can.. for substantial pay. Better than retirement I suppose.

United got the very last top level season out of him

Quite possible because he thought he could find a club in Europe that would take him and by the time he realized that is not happening, United probably said its too late for us to find a replacement now so you have stay another year.

I will be surprised if he does actually go to Saudi Arabia. Don't think his ego will allow it.

It’ll be some fecking cheek to go on TV and accuse us of having low standards only to join the fecking Saudi League… I’m sure they have a nice swimming pool though.

Apparently for all his peak professionalism and desire to compete at the highest level, he would rather play every game in a desert junk competition than face the humiliating prospect of facing City, Liverpool & Barcelona without being an automatic starter…. Hmmm

This is all quite amusing - clearly had lots of offers as promised..

You do wonder if Messi seemingly off to the US helped make his decision, as his Champions League scoring record will now remain intact

Crikey. I knew he's faded a lot this year, but I didn't realise he's turned see through.

A few things. Of course he was badly advised to do the interview and there was a copious amount of cringe in it. To do it with Piers as well. The timing. All that. But, I do get why he wouldn't want to finish out his career under a manager who obviously plays a style he's not suited to and thereby end up being a bit-part player here. And I also think he'd have become a phenomenal player if he'd have gone to another club from Sporting back in the day. He was simply an outrageous talent.

It is a shame that he's both done that interview, been a massive prima donna all season, while ending up in a non-league for money. Pretty anti-climatic way to go.

Sporting for a couple of years before chasing the money would have been less undignified.

He was too good to play in the Europa League or settle for a reduced role at United as he can still play at the highest level and…. Oh wait!

Let's be fair. Most of us would be off in a heartbeat if an employer came in and offered 7-8 times our current wages. It would be absolute nonsense to claim otherwise.

Who knows what other potential offers were out there. Who's going to bother even envisaging it when he's received an offer for 3m+ a season elsewhere. It'd be like Wigan considering a bid for Mbappe.

It actually a bit pitiful. I'm pretty sure United would've given him a free transfer to the Saudi league had he quietly asked.

However, so convinced was he about his status, so sure of himself has been that, he thought if he was just a free agent first a big European side would come in for him. So he blew up his reputation at United and forced his way out.

Honestly, for his sake, I hope he suddenly has a flash of form at the World Cup and someone in one of Europe's top leagues makes him an offer. How humbling must it be for Cristiano to have to chew on the fact that, even on a free, the clubs he wants don't want him?

Constantly at the STD clinic.
I don't see Ronaldo going out in public and kissing her though, he will stay in his mansion away from the rest of the population.

It's what you do with your kids, because its literally just sand, its too hot to go outside in most of the year around noon.

Life is just malls and it's not like he can go there because everyone knows him.

The money is sportswashing again but when you realise that they're paying Ronaldo pretty much a half of the money they spent on Newcastle its absolutely bonkers.
This is normal Saudi. Even the upper/middle class live in compounds and frequently travel to resorts in Europe.

For someone like Ronaldo he can probably fly to games from a nearby European country as well

Just wow. He could have played for ETH, become a real Utd legend - I’m confident we’ll have CL next season, but CR will never play CL again. Is this what he wanted when he sat down with Piers? Tragic.
