Exactly my brother. Ronaldo has been played out of position in EVERY GAME. There's no accommodating no one here. Ronaldo is doing the Cavani job at number 9 because OLE lacks any understanding of his players, not just Ronaldo. He punted Greenwood to RW instead of benching him and has Sancho at his disposal, how can people be this blind? And as you said, last season he had a good number of dribbles playing on the LF role, HIS role.
His role doesn't exist in our side. He'd do well as a 9 if our second striker could hold the ball up but that isn't the case either. It's a mess.

Tbf I don't think our players are in awe of Ronaldo that much. I'd say most seem do not really like him.

In the incident last match where he kicked Jones basically the entire Liverpool team jumped on him and there was only Bruno to come and defend him.

Greenwood was close by, Rashford was close by but none bothered. Rashford usually is very eager to defend his teammates. Very late on I think McT and AWB or Fred showed up and that's it. Against Liverpool and at OT. People may say our players are cowards but they always defended each other in the previous matches. They didn't for Ronaldo yesterday though.
They should, in fact they should cherish our old strikers and learn from them. Since RVP left and we started using Rashford, Mason and Martial i never seen such a non-fluid united attack.

Maybe they should start showing they care on the field instead of twitter messages about how they care.

yes it is a mess. He never can play CF. He never was one. He always had someone playing as a CF to hold things up. None of our forwards can lead the line or hold the ball up. Not even Cavani. He has unbalanced the side as we never were geared to play with a CF. Honestly though we score goals our forward line is the most disjointed I have seen from a top club.

Nice and cosy in here in your little echo chamber...be objective for a second...

Atalanta and slick link up play in the box? You are a complete and utter liar. Plain and simple.
Here is the fabled Atalanta game...all his touches...now let’s rebalance ourselves here...I’m a Utd fan...And I’m delighted for his winner but who is watching this and determining that this was a wonderful performance??? One cross...one goal...zero hold up, zero link up and as for the tracking back??? It’s Shaw that gets the block in. I’m not Ronaldo bashing- I’m telling it like it is...watch it back and dare tell me he was amazing or anything like it...and I have already given him untold amount of credit for what he IS good at...right place right time cold as ice...he is unparalleled! He just shouldn’t be starting every game as a first name on the team sheet! Be fuking honest with yourselves...close your eyes and imagine that highlight vid was of Martial and not Ronny...you would all be saying shite bar the goal, diving for free kicks, shite free kicks, yard off the pace...etc. Etc. But somehow, Ronny tinted glasses make it sound like he was Roy Keane in Turin!

Ronaldo bailing us out? Would we need him to bail us out if we had of started without him? I happen to think we wouldn’t...I wouldn’t start him against ANYONE except teams I was pretty certain were gonna hand over possession...why? Because a back line that’s good on the ball will pick through us due to all the time they would get on the ball.

now head over to YouTube and watch his highlights against Villarreal and Leicester as well...fuking useless. Not me having an agenda...fact...show me anything in those games he did that you wouldn’t completely EXPECT of a Utd forward??? So stop wanking over memories and convincing yourselves he has been our saving grace...he hasn’t...he has added to our plethora of existing issues albeit still contributing goal wise unlike others .

Fuking agenda posting...cop on....wouldnt it be boring if we all just remembered what we wanted to remember and patted him on the back. Go watch back his performances- then criticise others for not agreeing with you own agenda.

....edit...sorry, I forgot...if Ronaldo doesn’t play well it’s the teams fault for not using him properly...well if that’s not an agenda I don’t know what is. The GOAT should be and is old enough and experienced enough to take responsibility for his own performances- not just shrug and point and run off down the tunnel.
Are you okay?

No mate...just don’t like when groups of people gang up on posters who have different, valid and reasonable points...it’s frustrating as hell when people keep regurgitating an arguement you are not even making, not actually engaging with the points being made and telling you you have an agenda...its like talking to my wife and I come on here to get a break from her!

Nice...try wind someone up instead of responding to the part you were wrong about...ya see what you did there...you ever see those movies where some arsehole tried to get a bunch of other arseholes to join in and pick on one guy by themselves —ya know...think Karate Kid or teen wolf...well you’re that arsehole...

Well look...I’m not the first guy to get wound up on this forum and I won’t be the last...Interesting that neither you or your posse have engaged with the fact that everyone was on here blowing up his performances and when you actually show them back a video ...people would rather distract from the matter then engaging with the point? Pages and pages of sarcastic comments about how idiotic you must be if you don’t think Ronaldo is the dogs...take away the slight air or irritation from my post and I think I proved at the very least ...that my counter position is valid and doesn’t warrant derision.

and I’ll stick with captaincantona...’deeryisbellend’ was taken

Just like the other day when you, Bebestation and the rest were piling on but I stood my ground and never complained just give straight answers didn’t resort to name calling or personal insults. But now you want to play the victim because Bebe went and got himself banned.

Why can’t you just be a proper fan and support the players and the team instead of page after page of ridicule?

And you’d need to watch what you post or you’ll end up never getting promoted.

Name calling? Ah here...I’m not bothered about being promoted but if anyone is taking anything I said in anything other then tongue in cheek(Perhaps I use bad language too often)using a karate kid analogy isn’t humorous? ...same way your calling me captain aggressive or trying to get other posters to gang up on my opinion...I’m sure that’s not taken as an infringement!

Also, if you actually read my posts...I’m not even criticising Ronaldo...I have an opinion of what he is good at and not good at and I’m backing that up. Just because my opinion on this particular player seems to differ from the majority...that makes me negative?

I’ll leave it there so until someone who said Ronaldo was awesome against Atalanta can explain that video...

Grand thanks...Why? I think considering the pages of smarmy patting each other on the back without any response deserved to be called out. I can accept appreciation of the guy...but tell the truth at least.
Truth is, he is our top goalscorer and best matchwinner, he scored 109 goas in his previous 126 games. But he has never been the type of player which you could rely on pressing and defending. No one should expect him suddenly changed his game at 36, to run his socks off to chase every loss ball, or to drop deep and create something out of nothing. His overall game has been regressing and he is more of a poacher these days due to his age, its up to us to utilise the best use of him, as he is still one of the very best poacher in the game, instead of asking him to do everything.

His primary role is to score goals, and he is doing just fine for us. There are quite a number of players who didn't do their primary job for us at the moment (defenders who couldn't stop anything at all, midfielders who are way too easy to be outplayed and bypass, attacking players in supporting role who couldn't even create anything at all), maybe you should spend your time having a go at them instead, to play it fair.

Accepted.

However, I simply say 2 things-

1)I don’t care what he has done before Utd. I know he was amazing. I’m talking about his performances for us- on reflection...have not been great at all. Goals-perfect. Ronaldo 101 last minute...exceptional...but performances...not good.

2) yes he has scored two goals that won us matches. That’s what he is amazing at. That’s why I would have him as an impact sub. Because I believe that if we started without him, we may not be so reliant on a last minute winner.

in short, from the performances I have seen thus far, and what I saw of him in the CL for Juve, the benefits of playing him for 90 minutes do not Outweigh the negatives. Simple.

I’m not bothered if you call me names or use bad language but the Mods will give you a warning for it, I’ve read your post and that video didn’t give a proper look of what Ronaldo did in that game he basically dragged us to a win.

Yes Ronaldo is getting on and yes we understand that and don’t expect him to do all the leg work but when he’s still delivering on the pitch we will get behind him.

Can’t say fairer than that...I disagree that he dragged us to the win...but I seem to disagree with a lot of what people are seeing in Ronaldo’s performances. Regardless, I’m thankful he is in the squad and I hope whoever is in the driving seat going forward uses him better than Ole is.

I agree with Mark Goldbridge.. Time for Ronaldo to be our captain! The only player who's won major trophies in his career, has experience winning trophies with Manchester United and experience of playing all over the World for great teams. Basically he's gone to the top of the mountain in football many times over and he can tell the young lads how beautiful view it is up there, and how they can do it too if they listen. Ronaldo is the only one who can handle the pressure having already captaining Portugal.

Why has Maguire got the captains armband? the only experience he's got is getting relegated 3 times he's never won a trophy in his career. And it's hindering his performances he needs to focus on his own game. Same for Bruno Fernandes who is playing badly that would just hinder him more when he needs to focus on his own game to sort out. Plus Bruno Fernandes hasn't won any major trophies in his career he's not a winner yet.

the true leader and who should be captain of this team is Ronaldo who does it for Portugal and is a massive influence behind the scenes with his work ethic and mentality and has experience playing all over the World with the best teams. Ronaldo is the only one in this team who is a winner and has experience winning trophies going to the top of the mountain. It's the obvious choice since he's already played for the club 6 years already. I don't know why he isn't captain already with Maguires only experience getting relegated 3 times. Fernandes hasn't won any trophies in his career so how can he tell other players especially young players what Manchester United is all about!? Plus if you see Ronaldo on the field he's vocal and not in a headless chicken sort of way.

While I'd love him taking the captain's armband, he wouldn't accept it at this stage, hierarchy and time at club and all. He was 18 months into Juve when the captain got subbed off, he was offered the armband for the rest of the match, and he refused it and handed it to another guy on the pitch he felt deserved it more, so I wouldn't see him accepting the role so soon here.

His overall game wasn't good so far, but its hard for any poacher to perform when the whole team is disjointed and there's lack of service provided. For example, if you look at Sancho, another new attacker joining our team this summer, his performance/output here has been far worst, even though he has been best performer in BL over past few years.

I'm a massive Ronaldo fan and was over the moon we signed him back BUT did our season get derailed by his signing? Yes he scores a ton and yes he's still quite clearly an excellent player individually but as a team player he lacks in areas, he doesn't track back, he doesn't press and he constantly berates those around him when they don't pass to him... Would we have been better off giving Cavani the starting role up top?

All questions but I'm not sure of the answers, I think Ronaldo has brought positives but not sure if they outweigh the negatives.

It's a tough one for me.

Hang on pal...read the thread back before you get on your high horse...I made a point yesterday after multiple posters made accusations about me having an agenda...I put across valid points in an albeit frustrated manner...and instead of responding to the points I made he tried to get others on here to take the piss...I called it out and made several tongue in cheek comments which I later clarified with him was not meant in any serious confrontational manner.

Deery is a big boy(or girl...or other I don’t know) and they can look after themselves...if I offend you...you are easily offended.

I feared this when we signed him to be honest, my Dad asked me if I was happy and I could only say I'll let you know in a few weeks. He is a passenger in all phases of play, where to compete you need 11 players giving maximum effort off the ball. You only have to look at the top 2 teams in the league to see that workrate matters at every position on the pitch. What's worse is that his lack of positional discipline is rubbing off on the younger attackers in the squad, and I believe harming their development also. Cavani at least brings drive and energy up front that shows Rashford et al the workrate required to compete.

Our form over the last 20 or so games, stretching back to last season would say he hasn’t ‘derailed’ the team/season. Cavani played 26 times in the league last season, 13 of which came from the bench. We weren’t utilising a pressing striker last season when our league position was lauded [although it was really due to others underperforming].

Ronaldo doesn’t press, which is an issue but we aren’t losing to a Villa because Ronaldo didn’t press & the rest of the team were perfect. I’d personally rather we’d have gone with youth, trusting the likes of Diallo & Sancho as it would prove more fruitful long term but the skewed analysis of Ronaldo is becoming a tad tedious. Put Liverpool Suarez up top & we’ve still got the chuckles brothers at CB & a midfield partnership that provide no actual defensive cover. If his presence is detrimental then the manager should drop him.

Good to see him in a striking partnership finally.

Will stop alot of the pressing and positioning problems.

Hope it works.

This guy is a monster.

Put him somewhere else other than a static peon at number 9 as I've said multiple times and suddenly he is scoring world class goals and assisting.

I'm outta here, have fun discussing him in the next 3 days.

PS: absolutely murderered the Spurs dude in the 2nd goal.
