P'd me off today. Felt his touch was off. But, if you ever want someone to win you a game it's Ronaldo.

Sure, but we're talking first half hour here. Plenty of simple errors he never used to make.
Yeah he didn't have a good game on that level, definitely. Wasn't on his game tonight, his feet looked slippery on first touch.

At the same time he also dropped two Norwich defenders on that first half chance with awesome footwork. And he's a bit like this now. He's gonna be a bit more bipolar with the first touches and ball control, whereas 5 or 6 years ago he was simply insane in this aspect. One game he'll be not as good, another he'll appear godlike with everything he touches like against Tottenham.

Today however was really bad, but that's an exception not the rule. He'll go back to normal levels in a flash.

Edit: regardless of that, he was needed or called upon to give United the win, and he did not fail.

He’s playing against players who in some cases he’s technically old enough to have fathered…

He should be an impact sub, not having the team built around him.
This is all I ever said about him and people believe I had an issue about him.

He can come off the bench and do what he has always done- score the winning goals that no one else can do better than him.

However, when he starts and plays 90 mins; he can look lost - almost like he needs a different type of football played to get the best out of him than alot of the team does play.

What a pressure penalty, that's why CR7 the GOAT should be taking our penalties as he proved against Arsenal and again tonight! Iceman under pressure.

Viva Ronaldoooooo! Saving United again and again this season! He's worth every Penny! He can play until he's 40 easily!

I worry for him in the second half of the season. It's been a long time since he's played straight through without a winter break and he's already starting to look tired. And we can't even rest him much because we have nobody else scoring.

Worst game I've ever seen CR7 play, no composure on the ball, couldn't pass the ball, not his best. The penalty covers up some of his failings tonight. Poor, but then again so were 93% of the team.

He made a really bad decision for his career when he decided to leave Juve last minute and rejoin us. PL is a high tempo league and our squad is clearly unbalance and lack proper coaching for a soon-to-be 37 year old like him to thrive.

The league is exposing the flaws in his game and he seems to be lacking in arrogance and confidence which made him a winner. I doubt he will be a regular starter next season. Already, opposition defenders, tv personalities and fans don't rate him anymore, which is ridiculous for a player of his calibre.

He is still a world class finisher and would've easily been the league's highest goal scorer had he joined city. Perhaps could've even win another ballondor with the kind of service he'll get there.

I hope we improve as a team soon and his confidence returns. Otherwise, it'll be easier to part ways come end of season for the sake of both parties. Defenders usedto be afraid of his name but now he's inadvertantly destroying his legacy playing for us. He won't be happy on the bench and we can't change the way we want to play for a 38 year old even if he is Ronaldo.

A player who wins the game gets this criticism is disgusting.

Blame the other players. He score a penalty which isn't easy you know!? Scapegoat

He saved United from disaster with a pressure penalty . Give him credit.

The scary thing is that he had a bad game but still managed to get the penalty and finished it nicely. It might look ugly, but he has won the game for us again.

Eh I mean, that's the thing with this guy at his age. He produces the goods even when his moment to moment football isn't up there. And it's not like its sporadic either, not the first time he's had a mare and scores one or two goals and the end result is points/win.

He was appalling, as were all United's attackers. His penalty shouldn't cover up his poor performance.

His old legs are struggling to keep up with the pace of the premier league unfortunately, I saw it against Palace and the same today. He needs to be used more sparingly, maybe a sub in the league and starting the CL games.

Not really. It says everything that needed to be said. Sorry if the truth offends you.
Ronaldo was poor by his standards, yet still won, scored the penalty and gained the all important 3 points.

No need to say sorry.

Actually it didn’t, it neglected mentioning winning a penalty and winning the match. That’s the only thing that matters.

It’s always amusing that when Ronaldo has a poor game, the whole “we’re worse off with him in the team!!” line gets trotted out.

Sometimes players have off days, and this was undoubtedly one of them. He was awful. However, that doesn’t always have to mean he’s causing an issue in a tactical sense. If any of our frontline play that badly on an individual level then the flow of our attack will suffer (obviously), but that’s not unique to CR7.

If he was playing like this in most matches it would be a big issue, but that clearly isn’t the case. Just recently he scored a brace against Arsenal and contributed very well in general play too, and then didn’t score against Palace but received a fair amount of praise for how he linked up with others (at least in the first half).

It doesn’t automatically make it a system issue if Ronaldo has a bad game. He just had a poor game.

Still tucked away the penalty with supreme confidence; testament to his elite mentality.

He was bad, but the game he tried playing isn’t his game.
He needs to stick to being a penalty box poacher, playing on the shoulder.
He’s dropping deep way too much and it’s a mistake. He’s not very good at shielding the ball or holding it up and him coming back trying to do it is just a recipe for failure.

What’s best for the club long term is him not starting. He is 36 for Christ sake how can we keep giving him so many minutes? It doesn’t matter how many goals he scores he shouldn’t be playing this much.

Wait he was bad. Like every other player. Yet he won the penalty and scored it. Where is the respect?

All the younger players were cack aswell. Rashford was absolute rubbish, Bruno even worse, sancho average, greenwood anonymous. Let's be honest he still won the game where the others couldn't

Folks, We were horrible all over the pitch and Ronny was the only one pushing players to get on with it when we needed a goal and time was running out...he was poor on the ball but his attitude was spot on...unlike others. Bruno was sulking from about the 6th minute. Dalot and Telles were passive...Rashford and Sancho genuinely didn’t looked arsed again which is bizarre. Ronny at least put in a shift. When you are as bad as we are at this point...that counts. If our other forwards showed more urgency...like Mason when came on...it’s a different game. Bad game from him but not the worst out there by a stretch.

Great penalty - otherwise pretty bad in possession. Just couldn't hold or protect any ball he received. Was not physically up to the treatment he was getting from Norwich and was basically bullied out of possession constantly. Poor shot choices too though half of that was due to receiving poor passes from Rashford.. but needed to hit some balls immediately instead of switching feet 3 times and had a few airballs.

Have to think he was tired and needs a rest as he was looking much better in previous games. But he was never one who excelled vs the more physical CBs with his back to goal. Always has been better running on to crosses and moving into the box, than hold up play.

100% this.

He will always score goals through his amazing ability but he's struggling to adjust his feet to the speed of the game in the Premier league.

I absolutely love the man and what he's done for United but this shouldn't go beyond this season. He's slowing down and as harsh as it is to say he could become a problem as he will insist on playing.

Ronaldo has been our best player this season. He has 1 rare bad game (which even the GOAT can have yes) while scoring a crucial winning goal (penalty under immense pressure from away fans) and people jump on him going in too hard. It's disgraceful and out of order. There's no balance. He gets the blame when we win and he scores the winning goal now, not just when we don't win! Every player can have bad games, you don't need to start kicking the guy who has single-handedly saved our season. It's bizarre some peoples first person to blame is Ronny. Agendas for sure.

What about the rest of the players who have been winging it all season long?! They lucky they have CR7 saving their backsides otherwise it'll be a much much worse season.

I don't see Fernandes getting so much criticism who's been poor all season.

Ronaldo should have credit in the bank to cut him some slack. Every player was bad but Atleast he tried and forced the keeper to make saves.

He was awful tonight, but he still managed to get the penalty and convert it. He's that kind of player, even when having a shit game you just don't take him out because he can produce.

Odd reaction here today. Not at his best at all but the supporting cast were even worse and he's now at a point where he needs them to perform and to feed him. Whether he's what we need in that position at the mo is a different argument (I would never say no to having him in the side) but to focus on him in a game where there were far worse performances seems odd to me.

Exactly. Ronaldo is a United legend. And he's been our best player this season. Has 1 rare bad game and peoples first reaction is to blame Ronny is bizarre and seems agenda driven when the other players have been poor all season and poor tonight. He saved United tonight.. he misses that penalty we don't win. Massive pressure he was under and he delivered he loves United.

Where's the respect for a United legend and our best player this season,
