Cristiano Ronaldo - 965/1000

I am not sure if another 39 goals are worth the embarrassment. If Al-Nassr and their fans don’t even want him and there is a sense he is actively hindering the teams’ chances even at that level, what is the point of it all?

He was an unbelievable player, he doesn’t need this and none of it is positive for his legacy.

They definitely play a man down until the ball is anywhere near the box. He can no longer dribble past the worst defenders and the only few times he does track back he looks too gassed and ends up walking around shaking his head. The novelty of the league has definitely declined quickly

He does look genuinely terrible at times from what I have seen. His body can’t do what was so easy for him. I don’t know what his WC appearances will look like in 5 months time.

Another 39 goals will be painful in legs that have given up a few years ago.

Don't underestimate power of penalites.

Yup. Probably manufacturing a move with his latest antics. Time is not on his side and I wouldn't be surprised if he's prioritising 1000 goals while keeping his legacy largely intact. He's way below the level required of Al Nassr and needs to drop a couple of levels before hanging his boots within a year. No idea where he goes next though. Maybe India or Indonesia.

Such a baby. It’s only fun when playing for the best team.
Al Hilal (the team he’s complaining about) signed Nunes and Theo Hernandez in the summer and just completed the signing of Meite from Rennes.

His team signed Simakan, Felix and Coman.

The teams look equal to me, if anything id say Al Nasr has a better squad. Not sure why he’s complaining.

Weirdo.

EDIT: Apparently he’s throwing his toys out the pram because Benzema has a deal to join Al Hilal (a rival for the title) and they have suspended the deal cos Ronaldo aint happy joke of a league.

His fanboys will probably applaud this latest move as yet another proof of his competitiveness, but honestly I find it kind of sad that an athlete as accomplished as he is can’t find it within himself to just enjoy the sport in what essentially is his retirement tour in Saudi.

I've seen that Al Hilal (top of the table atm) are close to signing Benzema from al Ittihad, while al nassr, having led the league for some time season, are falling back now and might not be getting anyone in january to stop al Hilal from pulling away.
Anyway, thats what i'm reading into it.

Yeah apparently there’s a whole bunch of deals held up because of this. Benzema to Al Hilal - El Nesyri to Al Ittihad - Kante to Fenerbahce - Marcos Leonardo to Atletico Madrid.

Fabrizio said its a domino effect.

What a baby, he's really ruined the legacy. It's weird that he has a new fanbase of online trolls that only have seen him in the last 5 years and think he the best player of all time and will defend him to the ends.

In effect it was to help him reach the 1000 milestone in Saudi Arabia, and his fans could salivate over each stepping stone goal along the way, whilst the team achieve nothing as a partial consequence.

It’s emblematic of modern ‘fandom’ really.

If only there were better reasons to go on strike for as one the most famous persons working in Saudi Arabia.

Find it odd that he'd strike. I thought he'd be wanting to play as many games as possible due to his age and ever declining mobility.

My thoughts exactly with those headlines.

They've stopped Benzema transfer to appease Ronaldo... What a way to run a league...

What Ronaldo doesn’t mention he earns more than two or 3 of the best players combined. Thats not fair either since he is past his prime and can’t win the title.

Ultimately, no one would really remember or care about the antics. They'll just be another line in wikipedia. A scorer of 1,000 goals, however, will be a headliner that will follow him forever.

Every time I read about yet another thing he's done, I'm genuinely glad I chose to be on the better side of the Messi Ronaldo debate. The man is embarrassing beyond belief.

Had an absolutely glittering career but is ending it in the most undignified fashion possible, all because he’s teaming with insecurity.

Probably his way of getting back at Benzema for having the gall to win the Ballon Dor and lead Madrid to another CL when he had left.

When he was with us in his first stint, it was obvious there was a massive ego there, but I never imagined he would turn into the absolute cringe fest that he has. It's embarrassing.

I still say he fecked up by leaving United too early. Fergie's fatherly influence helped keep him grounded. Without it, he's obviously just been surrounded by yes-men who let him do whatever he wants, which has contributed to him becoming the utter trainwreck he is today.

I think that’s an age before the internet and social media. I don’t think that will be as true inn the future. Everything is analyzed to the Nth degree. An extended and painful decline coupled with poor showings that cost Portugal real chances at major tournaments will be more than just a line.

Fabrício just gave his Here we go! Benzema to Al Hilal.

Ronaldo must be furious.

My favourite part is the bbc article mentions Benzema is on £1.6m a week but whatever they offered him to extend caused him so much insult he chose to just not play the next game.

Didn't sound very grounded to me when he called himself a slave. Let's be real, as brilliant a footballer as he was, his personality had always been problematic.

True - somewhat grounded would have been a more accurate statement.

It has always been problematic but Fergie definitely helped reign that in to some degree. Once he left for Madrid it started spiraling out of control.
