Cristiano Ronaldo - 967/1000

Watching Martinez on The Overlap word-salading why Ronaldo is still worth his spot in the national team 11 was quite something. And also contradictory to everything Ronaldo is known for. He said Ronaldo giving one assist was proof he is a team player and was revolutionary for the dressing room. That Ronaldo is more interested in team achievements than individual accolades. PR speak when he probably wanted to say "he's fecked but I have to play him."
I bet it's in his contract that he has to play him.

I imagine it as they celebrated sarcastically that he actually passed it. Martinez was definitely word Saladin his importance, I think he’s gonna show how bad his legs are gone and it’s going to be to the detriment of Portugal with his ego on full tilt. Or trump pardons Portugal’s loss and they keep advancing

I thought the 2022 World Cup would be his last one.

I'm very surprised he's attempting to play this one as well.

It probably would've been if Portugal had won. If they go out early this time I genuinely wouldn't be surprised to hear him say he's aiming for 2030.

The thought of a 45 year old Ronaldo lumbering around the pitch at the 2030 WC expecting his team mates to set him up for tap ins or penalties is a very sad thought.

Are there portuguese fans in the Cafe ?

I'm wondering if some of you have watched Ronaldo and Quaresma at Sporting or maybe when they moved to the champions league.

934

Al Nassr 3-0 up against Yokohama in the AFC Champions League QF

He needs 33 more.

33 goals ago was end of April 2025. So at this rate he’ll reach 1000 in March 2027.

But that’s assuming he still plays internationally after the WC. He really won’t need to slow down his scoring rate too much though, before he has to start thinking about playing in the 2027/2028 season, when he’ll turn 43 to get to 1000.

Hopefully he can stay fit. Injury is really the only concern at this stage otherwise he’ll get it by default.

The goat ! We treated him so badly on his second stint.
Yeah, we sure did. We should offer him to return with an apology, a promise that he can play every game until he turns 50, and a percentage of ownership of the club.

I am a Ronaldo fan & no reason to hide it -

But I do think the Saudi League is underrated as a pensioners league.

Players of PL quality are playing there as youngsters, in their prime and as semi retired players.

I don't know if it's all spread out or playing in just two clubs -

But you see how Bodo Glimdt did in the Champions League - I personally don't see why a Saudi team couldn't go on a run like that either.

Imagine if they nab Casemiro & Salah this season aswell.

So I rate the Ronaldo goals in the Saudi League a bit higher than others, I dont think it's as easy as a league as it and there's many leagues worse.

If he could just be more of an experienced player than a commander for Portugal he has a big chance of winning the world cup & that's to do with the players around him than himself. If he acknowledges that then he could be a player that has ticked every box.

Although it's not really like Ramos is all that either but maybe he makes the players around him better.

Ronaldo when he scored 1000th goal: Siuuuuuu!!! the world is mine

Ronaldo when he found out Pele scored 1279 career goals and is the record holder in Guiness World Record: Nooooo!!! habibi!!! extend my contract by 10 years right now!!

...oh and make it so that I own 69% of the club, make me the clubs president in 5 years, give me an oil plant named after my eldest son, and dont sign Salah! Feck Salah dont sign Salah

There’s no way you can rate a league where this is a penalty. They literally are creating a penalty for him every day. This guy is the Mr Satan of football.

Dude just tripped over the other dude who had already fallen over, and that's somehow a penalty?!

The hilarity of the obviously bent competition aside, does anyone actually care even if/when he reaches 1k goals? I doubt even his fanboys care all that much nowadays as the ‘debate’ has died down since both of them pretty much retired from top level football.

His fanboys still care. He'll still have his loyal army of followers explaining how him getting to 1000 goals in a retirement league means he's better than Messi.

I do.

None of his fans rate C Ronaldo due to his technical ability.

Many players have better technical ability than Ronaldo.

Yet he has the best mentality I've ever seen as a footballer.

The guy sets himself hard targets and tries his best to succeed.

Him moving from Madrid to Juventus for example.

He clearly wanted to try conquer the Serie A in his career and I'm sure he wanted to win the CL with Juventus aswell. Juventus were not even a superclub but was the best club he could join in the Serie A since he won all he could in the PL and La Liga.

He did the best he could and when many players would retire the guy comes back and plays in the PL again.

You still see it in him..

He wants to score 1000 goals and the guy won't stop until he does. We all know it will happen because Ronaldo's mentality to set himself targets and succeed is insane.

He clearly wants the world cup but is delusional as targeting himself as the main man of the National Team.

I've never seen this type of Mentality from a player before. Moving from country to country playing in the hardest leagues even when his age is done. 98% of this forum couldn't just leave their job in England to do the hardest job in Singapore and adapt to their culture and lifestyle whilst taking their family with him and work to the same standards immediately. Ronaldo is someone who would.:)

I'm someone who doesn't judge a player purely on technical ability, I find things like players strength, mentality, physicality, work rate, durability to play in different leagues whilst acclimatising to different countries and environments etc all very valuable aspects of a footballer or infact any human being.

Thats why I am a fan boy. To me he is almost like a role model.

If I had any of his mentality I'd be 1000x more successful in my own life. It's sad but it's true.

His mentality is rooted in narcissism and ego. You might well be more successful, but you wouldn’t be any happier.
