As excellent as Ronaldo is, the only madrid player I think is in the top 4 of all time is di stefano. He looked incredible in matches I used to watch on madrid tv. He used to do everything. It looked slower than modern football though. Mad how madrid, whose success is unmatched by any club and are in a league of their own have only one player I regard that highly (ie top 4-5).

He scored in every single final except for the Euros (including the club football and international football). He has scored in the FA Cup final, League Cup final and the UCL when he was in Manchester. He scored in Copa Del Rey final and the UCL final with Madrid. I don't think that any footballer ever scored in every major final while being in England and Spain.
He even scored in the UNL final against the reigning European Champions Spain at 40. According to you that's "ghosting".
Why are excluding the UNL goals? It only matters when Mendes and Bernardo Silva are MOTM? He scored at 40 against Spain and Germany. His usual "ghosting".
He scored in every single final? I think you began to imagine things because he surely did not score in every final. That he appears once in a while in a final does not mean much when he is ghosting most times as in 4 UCL finals out of 6 where he was anonymous.
Who even cares about the Nations League? It’s a tier-2, made-up competition and even there the MVPs were Bernardo Silva and Nuno Mendes.
On the premier stages, Euros and World Cups, he just ghosts. 3 goals in 21 knockout games. That’s his now legendary legacy. If he’d a half-decent record at major tournament knockouts, you’d never stop reminding people every single day. I find it ironic how Ronaldo fans go full TED Talk mode about UCL knockouts, then all of a sudden become shy the moment you bring up World Cup and Euro ones. the double standards are too wild.
Anyway, Ronaldo seemed to have found his own genius coping solution: calling the World Cup “just a 6-7 game tournament” and claiming it “was never his dream" when in reality he was writing essays about how it was the biggest dream of his career on instagram, twitter right before the end of the last World Cup.

It is, but the 2 assists is probably even more damning, TBH. Take away the billion euro supporting cast that put tap in chances on a plate for him at club level and he appears to be pretty ordinary.

And you're still trying to convince me (us) that scoring 4 goals in 6 games in the UCL is somehow "bad". And to berate Ronaldo for not winning the World Cup is even more ridiculous because he literally made Portugal relevant and better.
Take away Xavi and Iniesta from the midfield and Messi becomes a ghost in the Champions league, by your logic. Not to mention that PSG became worse when the GOAT came to their team. This is a weak response. Ronaldo has scored 3 goals and registered 2 assists in 21 knockout matches in the Euros and the World Cup. 0 and 0 in the WC alone. It is extremely poor. Try and deal with that fact without mentioning any other player.

Historically regarding Madrid (and even beyond Real) Alfredo is untocheable.
Yet him, Puskas and in recent years Cryuff and mostly Platini have been sadly too many times kind of forgotten.
I've just recall too that in the beggining of the 2000's a lot of people put Zizou above evryone too, I never agreed with such (Platini fan for one), but it's quite incredible to rememeber those days and how high was his consideration, even if course today he still is an all time icon and preffererd as his bets for quite a number of people.
Back to Alfredo in many ways with the cards he was dealed, he was almost bullet proof if we analyzed in deep his carreer.
Anyway, it's the Cristiano thread. Maybe Alfredo deserves his thread to not derrail this one.
My guess is he'll retire after the World Cup. He's got enough money and no reason to be in Saudi after it's done.
Cristiano will seek those 1000 no matter what, he has a chance to win the WC too and if he does it? who knows what unlocks within him to maybe even prolongue his carreer. Physically he can still pull it out, he's fine motor skils seems the one more affected in these last years, but if he finds a team that puts the ball with advantage at times or spaces to blast it from diatnce, he can still play till beyond 40.
