Cristiano Ronaldo - Countdown to 1k

Maybe the stats say otherwise but it does feel like he's taking a ridiculous number of penalties there.

Was he more calm now after losing the supercup to Al-Ahli? I imagine after winning the nations league wih Portugal he's less fussed about trophies in Saudi Arabia

Does he care about team trophies that much though being so close to 1000 goals? I'm pretty sure at this point he'd very much rather lose a final after scoring a hat trick than win it without scoring, unless it's the WC final, perhaps.

Another final lost with Al Nassr
But at least he got his customary penalty

Another trophy lost in the mighty Saudi league:lol:
Kai Rooney as a kid had that Instagram post "Lost 5-4. Scored all 4" after some game. Ronaldo is probably like that. Would rather a game where they lose and he scores than a game where they win and he doesn't score. At this point all he cares about is probably getting to 1000 career goals. And he's getting there definitely, probably going to manage it next season.

❌ Lost 4 Saudi Super Cups (FOUR)
❌ Lost 3 Saudi King Cups
❌ Lost 3 Saudi Pro Leagues
❌ Lost 3 AFC Champions League
✅ Won 1 Champions Cup (Friendly)
❌ Lost 3 Riyadh Season Cups
❌ Lost 1 Riyadh Super Cup

Scored lots of penos. Checkmate!

The 1000 is all there is now, and he will have to be carried over the line. Is it even a victory at that stage?

How does this team keep getting in super cups without winning anything? Are they just making them up to try and get Ronaldo trophy's or something

Obviously yes. Ivan Toney called them out this week as they are doing everything they can to fix it for him to win.

Probably part of his contract

Yeah I think Rafael Van Der Vaart said exactly that in an interview - that Ronaldo would look more upset if he didn't score despite the team winning than he would if Madrid lost and he had his name on the scoresheet.

Interestingly, he looked alright when Portugal got eliminated by France in the last Euros when Felix was the one who missed his penalty and Ronaldo scored his, but was in literally, hysterical tears when he missed a penalty in the previous game against Slovakia and the score was still tied at nil-nil.

Look at his reaction after the final whistle, he was almost in tears yet again, blaming everyone else has usual. he defo wants to win these tin pot trophies.

I don't doubt that but do believe his main goal now is 1000 goals. Also that's another final and trophy lost with Al Nassr so of course he'll be frustrated, it's been happening since he's joined them it seems.

Harry Kane has 73 goals in 104 appearances and is far and away England's leading goalscorer of all time.

Ronaldo has 140 in 222. Almost exactly Kane's international career times two. Say what you want about him, it'll be a long time until we see something like this again.

For Portugal's sake, would be nice if he turned up for a change when it really matters in the WC next year.

He was the problem remember.

Remember when the cafe were adamant switching him for one goal Weigy was a smart move.
He was on £500k a week to do that, completely destabilising the team as it fell from 2nd to distant 6th. I didn’t rate Hojlund but for comparison he was on £85k, which almost 6 times lower salary.

Every single time he was subbed he made a strop, he made the life hell for managers, a complete circus surrounding him. Intolerable to keep him here.
