Weghorst is shite and I'd like him gone in the summer but i'd take him all day every day over current Ronaldo
At least Weghorst knows he’s shite and plays a willing hard pressing foil role to Rashford and Fernandes for the sake of the team. Getting Ronaldo to ever do that would have been impossible, there’s no way Rashford scores that many goals with Ronaldo starting every week.

The stadium was packing, Al-Nasser was playing against the team that is leading the Saudi league.

Ronaldo himself is one of the reasons there were a lot of people.
there were a lot of people last season as well. There are Messi chants against Ronaldo too. He just can’t escape it, it seems.

He should have shut up and he should have retired in January.

Just had a quick look at the stats and Rashford has doubled his goals per minute ratio since Ronaldo left. Might be a coincidence, but it probably isn't.

This is what he is up to these days. Still throwing his toys out of the pram but without at the usual mollycoddling. I am glad that his ambitions, which weren't being met here, have found their ideal place.

Continuing on from where he left off here then.

What a sad ending to such an illustrious career. If he had just a tiny bit of humility and self awareness things could have been so much different.

He could have been the guy that helped shape the next Manchester United team to win it all. To be seen as a man helping others to achieve what he has already mastered. Establish a legend, not just as a player, but as a person.

Instead hes kicking water bottles in a tunnel.

He must really hate staying on the bench. I don't see how being a bench player helping a United team that looks set to start competing at top level again is not attractive for a 37 year old. And the fans loved him too.

I'm glad he's gone though too much drama. Of be was still here, Pundits would have probably criticised eth for not starting him after that liver pool loss

It probably is a bit more complex than this but you only have to look at the stats.

Rashford in 19/20 - 22 goals
Rashford in 20/21 - 21 goals
Rashford in 21/22 (Only full season with Ronaldo) - 5 goals
Rashford in 22/23 - 26 goals and counting with the vast majority of those goals since Ronaldo left.

Because in his deluded head the same drive that made him the best player on the planet for a time also has him convinced that he's still the best player on the planet. In his head, he's not washed up, he's not past it. He's still the best in the world and it's everyone else that's wrong. And how can the best player in the world settle for a place on the bench? That would break his delusion and he'd have to come to terms with reality.

I would love to know how he's justified this move in his head in alignment with these delusions, it could be his anger is partly that realization. But more likely he blames his inferior team mates.

Are his chances of winning the top trophies in Saudi Arabia basically tied to his team being better/worse than Al-Itihhad ?

From the little i've seen, Al-Itihhad does seem to have a better offensive/creative team.

Them and Al-Hilal, the strongest side there, who won the last three league titles… Hi side will make the Cup final and face one of these two. The league could still be a race of 4. Al-Shabab (the team of Banega..) is close behind.

What’s going on with him

I’ll either hear that he hasn’t scored in 5 games or that he’s just scored a ton of goals in one game

Thats a very good rocket free kick, not many older players can pull that out for sure.

Some interesting stats after the goal:

Ronaldo 828 career goals
L.Ronaldo 414 career goals

Exactly doubling the number!

Career freekicks all time:
1. Juninho 77
2. Pele 70
3. Legrotaglie - 66
4. Ronaldinho 66
5. Beckham 65
6. Maradona 62
6.. Zico 62
8. Ceni 61
8. Messi 61
10. Koeman 60
11. Ronaldo 59

Only 2 behind Messi. He needs to score 3 more to get to top 6 with Maradona/Zico. I doubt he could touch Beckham's freekick record though among top 5.

Freekicks in currently active players:

1. Messi 61
2. Ronaldo 59
3. Calhanoglu 28
4. Pjanic 27
5. Neymar 19

None of the current players could reach near even half of his numbers. Are there any upcoming freekick specialist among younger generation though?

Maradona scored 62 free kicks? Feels surprising doesn't it. Arguably the best ever of those of my generation, but perception Is he didn't even close to the numbers Ronaldo and Messi posted.

Any stats from the farmers league should be null and void.
