Well Leeds wanted him, and Bielsa is a good manager. Pep liked him too apparently, so let's hope he's at least half decent, which will be several levels above what Martial, Sanchez & Lingard were showing for most of last season.

Should be a good test against world cup runners up Croatia in a competitive game.

I fully expect this thread to be full of rational responses in the coming hours. I look forward to reading them.

First involvement of James has come in the 42nd minute and his cross almost results in a goal. Apart from that it's been all Croatia with Modric and Perisic playing well and Wales struggling to string two passes together.

Wales are terrible but the game looks a bit too fast for him so far. Made one really good cross but otherwise he's struggled with how little space Croatia are giving him. He also did a Rashford at one point and left the ball behind.

Might have something to do with him not having trained with Wales tbh.

Quiet first half. Had a couple of opportunities to run the full back but has opted to cross into the box at earliest opportunity. Hopefully we will see the afterburners activated in second half.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion. Croatia have completely dominated in midfield and Wales can't even string a few passes together. James only came into the game when Wales hit it long at the end of the first half and his run in behind followed by the cross almost got Wales level.

The few times he's got on the ball he's been quickly closed or dispossessed. It's hard for him in 35 degree heat and in such a poor Wales team though.

One cross created a chance - should've scored really.

Alabama but always Wales in my heart
With Ramsey hurt the midfield lacks the quality to get on the ball and pick a pass. In the circumstances they have been looking for Bale at every opportunity as their one world class player which makes some sense but he is on the other side of the field to James which means Dan is not getting a lot of options. He has looked dangerous with the couple of opportunities he has had and could well have scored if Bale had squared the ball to him a few minutes ago, encouraging at least that he got in the box and was ready if the chance had come.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
:D Thread is so early.

Things to consider for next season --> he's too raw, too many drawbacks in his game already, it's too obvious. Do expect him to make mistakes.

Nothing wrong with that, as expected from a normal young player, no need to criticize undeserving harshly nor lambast his every single mistakes like how Dalot is being treated in his first season. Just need to continue improving and continue being himself (from the little I've seen) --> a hardworking player with balls.

Pep liked him. Which is basically our whole transfer strategy these days.

Wales looked absolutely rubbish, though James did alright, could have been a bit livelier, but he's had a weird few weeks and it was 35 degrees. I thought Brooks looked alright when he came on.

Brooks usually looks alright though he got lucky with the deflection for the goal

We need James to be able to do things in a rubbish side though ;). If he is only good when the players around him are great then there is little hope for him here.

Anyone watched the game? Bale the selfish clown had a perfect chance to pass James and it would 90% have been a goal but he made a horrendous shot instead that the goalie easily saved.

Yep you're right and he could (should) have had an assist too. Not bad considering Croatia are three times the team Wales are.
