the free kick came in from the half way line it doesn’t matter if his leg was poking forwards as he was onside when the kick was taken and it wasn’t flicked on. how do people not know the rules?

How is it offside by the lower leg when the ball goes straight up, arguably backwards abit for the bicycle kick. Its not offside when the cross is played to the guy who headed it. Isn't the offiside finished once the ball goes backwards and kicked forward by somebody else?
