Iran simply lacked quality in the final third, a couple of chances from crosses into the box but nothing sustained. USA deserved the win in the end.

I watched US-Iran. Is the replay of the England game worth watching in full?

Wouldnt be surprised if most teams at this World Cup don't have a Giggs child in their ranks…our Ryan does like throwing it about
Giggs captained GB at the 2012 Olympics. Imagine what went on in the Olympic Village.

If England had needed to score six or seven goals tonight they would have done so with relative ease, Wales were diabolical again. As a matter of fact they were comfortably the worst team in this tournament -- bottom half Championship-level stuff from them from start to finish. Even Qatar put up a decent fight against Senegal and even Costa Rica have managed a (jammy) win.

Ref was good, no complaints.
But the way Berhalter thanks him after the game makes it super awkward for the ref.
Yeah, the ref was good. One time, on a contested ball in the air, Robinson & the Iranian player got a bit tangled up, with Robinson's stud coming down the other's leg. Dude goes down very theatrically, then after getting up, asks the ref for a card. Ref basically laughed at his face.

Was busy watching Iran vs USA and missed Rashy's goals. Pleased for him.

Agree with this - was thinking this watching the game. Wales have to be a very strong contender for worst side in the tournament

Well done to United States - as much as Netherlands will be favourites, it won't be easy game for them at all.

I am, obviously, delighted we won. I am not getting giddy though. Wales, as others have said, are not a great team. Plus we were able to open the game up by scoring (wonderfully) from a set piece. That's no guarantee. We can't really bank on scoring from set pieces.

I am happy, we won, but also realistic. Senegal are much better than Wales and if they dig in and we can't open the game through individual brilliance it'll be a slog. Especially with their speed on the counter to worry about.

Countries from Europe, North America, South America and Africa will have their teams in knockout stages. Hopefully an Asian team joins, whether it's Saudi Arabia, Japan or South Korea, would be nice.

Bollocks. First half was a decent effort. Class was always going to tell in the end.
