Tielemans should maybe retire after that.

Great game so far. Fear Canada will tire themselves out and KdB will end up scoring a pen to win 1 nil.

Belgium wasted their golden gen on Martinez. He belongs at clubs like Wigan or Everton where he can coach bums like Shaun Maloney and Stephen Pienaar.

Real generational change incoming at this WC, so many old stars having their last hurrah.

Every time there is a world cup, I am surprised that smaller football nations surprise. It sometimes seems as if there are many talented players in parts of the world that the European clubs do not get to know thoroughly enough. Players from the Middle East, Asia or North America who should be playing in bigger clubs.

Belgium is really the perfect team for Canada to upset. Their defence is ancient and slow as feck, Canada's attackers are ridiculously fast, just lump it behind them and press them high. Danger is if they get past that first press then it's a big chance every time for Belgium. Makes it a fun game at least

This is really insane, Belgium reduced to counterattacking when Canada let them. Lots of good chances for Canada as well. Great advertisement for soccer in Canada, but it would be nice if one of these chances went in finally!

That Belgian team selection is awful, talk about sticking with old favourites. No legs in that team at all. Canada are outrunning them by miles. Surely Trossard and Onana need to play, a few others too.

Belgium is also being outmuscled all over the pitch.

Multiple people in here were able to point out that Belgium's team of geriatrics and lightweights could easily get done here. They've got plenty of youth, energy and physicality on the bench as well.

Martinez is a moron and should consider himself very fecking lucky if this side survives long enough for him to make changes.

But also that there’s way more to football than just 5 European leagues. People even won’t respect the best 5 leagues, calling ‘farmers’ for Ligue 1 and Bundesliga, never mind weaker leagues.
