Brilliant news this, has had a patchy 12 months or so however hopefully with the contract sorted he can get back to his best.

Such a stupid decision. This was the perfect opportunity to let him go and get a modern sweeper keeper like all the top clubs do, someone like Onana from Ajax. This contract renewal is purely sentimental, DDG isn't anywhere near the player he used to be.
I think it's a combination of football economic reasons and it makes sense

from financial point of view De Gea walks and you fork out 60m plus for a new goalkeeper plus wages.... Glazernomics wont fancy this as thats our net transfer budget for the last 2 years passed

People forget he's an outstanding goalkeeper. With his head in the right place I expect him to get back to his best....Dave Saves

Agreed. It's mental tying down a world class keeper to a long term contract when we could just as easily have let him go for free and dump a ton of money on the flavour of the month.

If it's those figures then it's a fair deal for both parties, means he has to improve his form to make the extra money.
Yeah, £250k seems to be the standard figure for our best players. Hopefully we're moving towards a more consistent wage structure.

Have United made it official? If so I hope he gets back to his best. His form has been worrying for a while now, but if he plays how we know he can we'll be solid at the back.

We will never get back to the top unless we start being ruthless. De Gea has been an incredible servant, but has been shit for over a year now. And he will only get worse with his reflexes slowing down.

Give your head a wobble. He’s 28 for goodness sake and still an excellent keeper. He’s earned the right for us to support him when he’s going through a tough period. DDG is way way down the list of players we should be replacing. If he goes, we will deal it, no players are irreplaceable - but we have far more pressing g issues to deal with.

Well he won't be leaving for free now.
So its a good thing if he is signed up

Well if true, hope his dip or what ever you call it is contract/transfer related, seems everytime there was a chance for him to leave or his future isnt 100% certain his head aint there, LvG got tones of hate for it but he played his cards brilliantly at the time.

I think that Juve has screwed us again. That's what happens when you pit men (Paratici, Agnelli and Sarri) vs boys (Woodward, little Ole)

We need a system in place from top to bottom. VDS/Marotta as CEO, Campos as DOF, Mitchell as head of recruitment and a new manager.
Nice screwing.
