He's the only player we can't afford to lose which is a sorry state of affairs to be in but there you go. Pay the man what he's worth. He's carried us into the CL almost single handed which has given the club well over £100m.

He could play for real, in his city, win titles and be champion of europe. He stayed without transfer request and was and is our best player plus best in the world on his position. He deserves best contract in club.

Just curious, would anyone accept a direct swap with Oblak if he drags on one more year without signing? DDG gets to goto him boyhood club and we get a very good goal keeper.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Of course he's not going to be happy with the offer. We won't be happy with what he wants. Ultimately we'll meet in the middle, as pretty much every single contract offer always does. As long as we didn't offer him an insultingly low contract (which I'm sure we didn't considering he is already the highest paid goalkeeper in the world I believe), it's just normal.

You know football's a mess when normal folks pick the side of these greedy millionaire primadonnas.
the greedy millionaire primadonna is basically our entire defence in a nutshell.

Just paper talk and nothing else. A lot of people think our board members are daft and would let De Gea go to another club. They really aren't.

He is going nowhere and it won't be long before his new bumper deal is signed and announced to the delight of us all. No worries at all.

Is it a case of now Madrid have got 'their man' in Courtois we're now trying to just undercut De Gea now Madrid isn't a looming threat?

He has been our best player for the best part of a decade and some matches carries the team. He deserves to be our top earner.

He deserves it - we wouldn’t have been top 6 without him recently

After giving in to that twat fellaini if we don't bend over backwards to offer De Gea the contract he wants i'll be disgusted with the club.
Who's said we gave into Fellaini. I'm pretty sure he signed the offer we made that he didn't want originally

Club is a mess from top to bottom.

Get the impression no one wants to play for the club unless we pay them over the odds!

I don't see why people are bringing Sanchez into it. If players are available on a reduced transfer fee they tend to command bigger wages, do people want us to turn them all down in the future?

Whether Sanchez is delivering or not is a completely separate matter to what his bargaining position was when he signed.

Given that he's worth probably twice as much to us in performances as Pogba and Sanchez have been (so far) put together, he's absolutely justified even if it's demanding to be the clubs top earner. Even if it's by an extra £100k a week.

You wouldn't find Jim leighton complaining about the contract we've given him

Knew this would happen when we leaked that we thought De Gea signing a new deal was a formality.

We'll mess him around

Let's take it easy here. The club know what they are doing. Earlier, they have made him the highest paid goalkeeper in the world so I don't see a reason why they would penny pinch.

Most likely, we are in a middle of a negotiation and each side is playing their cards. Why should the club blindly agree to what De Gea is asking? In real life, they would probably end up somewhere in the middle.

I am sure the club will snap it up if things go south and there is a real risk of losing him.

I’d be annoyed too. Sanchez joins the club and has been absolutely shite, and earns more than Dave.

He’s been our best player since Fergie left. He deserves to be the top earner

I can't see anyone paying more than we do, but at the same time I can see our executives lowballing him now that Courtois has gone to Real Madrid.

Hopefully his renewal will end up resolved to everyone's satisfaction.

Ultimately, we wouldn't even need a goalkeeper if they had just bought another 5 or 6 centre halves in the window. Piss poor planning.

Guys, we didn't pay Sanchez his salary based on what we have gotten from him, but rather what we expected to get from him.

So let's bare that in mind.

Mass hysteria is something else. Do we take every word from the Bald guy as a gospel. Even if he's not satisfied with the offer I'm sure club and him will meet in the middle.

He must think he has a lot of leverage, which he does, so it would be silly not to use it for maximum effect. Squeeze Ed dry of juice!
