It seems contradictory to me that people are saying he is pegged to his line, yet the criticism is he fought out of that situation to attempt to come and claim 2 crosses.

What it says essentially is that Ederson is the best GK... It doesn’t sound good to be frank
That isn't particularly surprising, Ederson performs remarkably well on a lot of stats. So much so that my opinion of him has shifted a bit, as I previously thought he was very overrated.

Here's the same table for this season from a few weeks ago:

We again see little improvement in Henderson over De Gea, with the former now attempting to claim more corners but not being particularly good at it while the other tries less but has been better in terms of handling. Meanwhile Ederson is again safe in that top right quadrant.

Also, note where Kepa is in both. He's actively hilarious.

MEN saying he is our new first choice and De Gea will go

Big call imo. I like Henderson a lot but I can only see us looking for a new #1 in a seasons time

Dean Henderson has only made 4 punches, 2 catches, and 4 high claims in general this season in the premier, yet alone off corners alone. Trying to draw conclusions off that graph is futile. Likely a single catch could take him into the upper right quadrant.

The limited info for this season is a fair point. Though that also applies to the stat posted praising his cross-claiming ability. We do have last season's stats too though, where he was also distinctly unimpressive on corners.

And while trying to draw conclusions off his limited appearances this season might be futile, that's literally what we have to do when it comes to making him our #1. We can only go on what we've seen.

And subjectively I think it's something backed up by what we have seen from him in his appearances for us. For all that he's happy to try and claim crosses, he's looked weak on set-pieces. Even in ways that don't show up on the stats, like getting himself in a bad position for the third Leicester goal.

If he wasn't being compared to De Gea (who has his own obvious flaws) then I don't think "commanding" is the word anyone here would be using to describe him.

I wonder why they don’t hold daily training sessions aimed at catching crosses?

There is nothing between them ability wise at this point. Add De Gea's wages plus he is a father now means he probably is going somewhere south soon. It is not a big call, since De Gea has not been at his best for the last 3 years

if DDG is actually off I wonder will we be shopping for another keeper? Whatever happens we will be paying him about 200k a week for the next few years. Another genius contract brought to you by Matt n Ed

We always have our sister club Internazionale to sell de Gea to.

Still looks a bit edgy to me! Last season he was commanding for Sheffield United and not dropping stupid aerial balls that he was last night! De Gea leaving may just make him feel at home!? Would be in favour of giving him a season to prove himself as undisputed number one and take it from there

Well that is something a lot of goalkeepers mention - that unlike other positions where competition can raise players' levels, goalkeeping is so reliant on focus and the mental side that when there isn't a known no1 it causes distraction and doubt in the minds of the keepers and you don't get the best out of either

Nothing he could do about the goal, nobody saves the follow up unless its right at him.
Nice to see a keeper not be glued to his line, I think he should be the #1 for the remainder of the league games with DDG playing in the EL.

Great goalkeeper. His shot stopping ability is probably as high as De Gea's even when you compare with the De Gea of old which won 5 player of the year awards. Truly astonishing player!

Hmm seems like Inter may be winning the Serie A title though. Happy for Ashley young. Maybe a little for Lukaku as he is finally winning a team trophy. Not so sure for Darmian. Definitely not happy for Alexis.

Excellent today.

Would like to see more assurance from him at corners and continue to show the good sweeping we saw today but no reason he can't continue improving in those regards.

We concede in the first half if he doesn’t come out to clear that ball. Can’t remember the minute but Shaw had been done.

This is what I like in my GK. Complete performance. Saves ? Check. Controlling your box ? Check.

Was impressed, he really commanded the defence. Could hear him telling the team to get up at the end there.

Good saves & commanded his area. Glad that he’s now being given a run of games to prove himself.

How many times was he quick off of his line as well?

Best GK performance since De Gea v Spurs (ironically) in 2018 and that was just him getting battered for 90 minutes

He's officially our number one now. Covers up Maguires lack of pace too.

Mentioned it in the Match Day thread, but today he looked like a Utd number 1. A really good performance.

Some really good saves with his feet. Sniffed danger and came out of goal when needed. Assured on crosses. Overall, solid performance from Hendo.

Didn't have much to do in terms of saves but he was brilliant sweeping today. Rock solid from him

He’d a very good game. I just wish it didn’t always have to be ‘take that De Gea, you has been’ from people here. De Gea is still a good keeper too and had a perfectly good game himself during the week.

Great performance. Positioning to sweep up was top class and a couple of good saves.

Came out like a sweeper keeper a couple of times, which was really good to see.

Thought he was excellent, particularly sweeping up, thought we’d been caught out a couple of times but he smelt the danger really well.
