Pretty sure Lingard himself is English too, but I agree. His all around game was never nothing better than Lingard's, identical players but Dele Alli had better end product was the only difference(altough big difference).

Yeah I think playing him sacrifices a midfield player which can be suicidal in Europe. He worked extremely well with Eriksen in that kinda two attacking midfielder formation they used a couple of years ago to exploit the space between full back and centre back with Eriksen supplying. But teams figured it out.

He's still a good player in the box, that's his strength since he arrived at Spurs. Scoring in the box isn't everything and while he was scoring, his touches, movement and threat is/was really good.
Right, yep. He was a left forward and was direct in the attacking third and made good runs into the box. Then he played that free type attacking role Son kind of does now dovetailing off of Kane. But outside of that, he's so so average.
Great player but needs a system that suits him. As the tip of a diamond he's never going to be good enough as he does have his limitations.

People think he has this great squad but only Kane and Son are near top quality, and Dembele before he left (jury is still out on Ndombele and Lo Celso depending on how they settle). Ali, Eriksen, Toby, etc, have all heavily benefited from having Poch work wonders as none of them are anywhere near top quality.
It's Fergie-eque in how Poch got the likes of Eriksen and Ali performing at the levels they once did.
