Whitwell talking up potentially Hojlund leaving and strong Juve sources talking about Sancho gives a bit of hope. Antony and Garnacho has gone quiet and Rashford well that's gone nowhere
 
I’d be tempted to pull out of the Mbeumo deal, play Amad at 10 and sign Dumfries. Then use the leftover money on a striker

100% economically also makes tooooo much sense. Bruno, Amad and Cunha for the AM positions. Dumfries, Amad and Dalot for RWB. Dorgu, Shaw and Dalot for LWB. Getting Dumfries instead of Mbeumo means we suddenly have €50m more to invest in a CM
 
Is there any indication that Dumfries would want to join us? I am sure we would be quietly enquiring, and a very good alternative solution if Brentford are being too demanding for Mbeumo.
 
We could get Dumfries, Theo Hernandez and Maignan for the price of Mbuemo. But we wont

He would have been a good signing even with Ten Hag. I think we're prioritising 10's, Striker and CMs. Without european football, I'm not sure we'll invest in a right wing-back unless we sell. We'll probably make do with Dalot, Amad and Mazaroui.
 
Surely the release clause situation would've been known to the club going into the summer, so if we're not in for him, that implies either the club isn't interested or he isn't interested in joining.
 
A bit of a beast physically this guy. Quite impressed with him whenever I've watched his games.
 
I'm happy enough with Amad, Dalot and Mazraoui as our options at RWB, especially compared to our depth in some other positions. We also need to move away from offering last big contracts to players knocking on the door of 30.

It's a complete non-starter for me even if he was interested, which would be fairly unlikely in itself.
 
Ornstein reported he was keen on joining us last summer. Know a few people close to him and he's always been interested in the PL. Think United could really choose to go for him and skip Mbeumo.

Mbuemo and Amad is a better duo than Dumfries Amad. I say this as I think Mbuemo Amad can both hit double figures G/A next season. I'm not so sure about Dumfries. Also he's better than Dalot but not by enough. I'd be waiting for a Diego León type player and try and develop the next big thing in house.

In an ideal world you would have prime Mendez and Hakimi at wing back...

Mbuemo and Amad is a type of duo I don't recall ever seeing succeeding in any top 5 league. They are two left footed right wingers, who like to drift to the inside who are supposed to play next to eachothers. Both being very similar players.

Dumfries has starred as a RWB for years with high offensive output both for his team and nation, where usually plays of a right winger that either inverts or goes in both directions. It is a much safer option. Though Mbeumo - Amad would be very exciting.
 
I’ve always been impressed when I’ve seen him play, release clause is cheap for nowadays.

I must be missing something though as at that price everyone should be over him…..

That's not a bad shout. But if he's available for 25m euros due to a clause, I could see us just activating that regardless and hoping we can do a deal for Hojlund separately. We seem to love a clause due to how easy they are, and we'd be writing off a fair chunk of Hojlund's PSR value

If we do the swap instead of activating the clause, the values could be inflated to align with PSR. Teams do this all the time…

Agreed. A mbeumo/Amad partnership would frighten opposition defenders

But surely auditors would ask why on earth you paid €40m euros for an asset that was available for 25, when Ed Woodward doesn't work for you anymore? I thought these deals had to stand up to market value tests.

40M in the PL is a relatively normal amount… Just do the deal after the clause has expired…

City and Juventus swapped Danilo-Cancelo in a similar deal, even though Juventus got punished in Italy (for doing this plus an even shadier one with Barça Pjanic-Arthur), City did get away with it, not one single question about it…

IIRC Juventus got punished because no cash ever actually changed hands in that deal

True, but picking Dumfries over Mbeumo leaves you with 40M to spare. Can we still buy that half decent striker (don’t ask me who though)
 
If you want to increase the physicality in your team, you would be hard pressed to get more physicality at wing back than this guy.
 
I know he hasn't been well rated on here over the years so thankfully Man City are on the case
