This deserves one of @harms description in players ranking thread, but how great was he? A talisman, a maverick who found his place in the most peculiar club in the world.

A club which was so great for him and his football ability, but at the same time the worst one for his destructive personality.

Since he didn't feature in the draft since his passing a bit of talk about him. You make your best possible and favorite team around him. I will start.

Elkjaer
Blokhin - Diego - Kalle
Bastian - Rijkaard
Brehme - Kohler - Scirea - Cafu
VDS

"you don't know what you missed" a graphite on a Napoli cemetery when they won the title...

"how do you know we missed it" was a response in the morning...

I can never bring myself to like strikers who are not good in the air so I picked a runner of a striker who could actually head it

For me a true tribute to Maradona should be an absolutely average team.

Probably the only GOAT not to be surrounded by great talent and then showcase how special he truely was.

None of the Don, Pele, Cruyff, Messi can dream of what he could do with what he had around him.

Will make my bang average all time favorite Diego team tomorrow. Would need some thinking.

I picked him in my first ever draft on redcafe and never managed it again. He was my first round pick as well - the problem was I got greedy and also picked Cruyff, Gullit, Rivera, and Schuster and played Schuster as the DM. I was a bang average manager, and the team was not bang average enough unfortunately.

And this is why he's GOAT.

A team with players full of cojones
Diego surrounded by players who will protect him and destroy any player who would like to touch Diego.
Diego is a fighter so you would need a team of fighters so Breitner/Beckenbauer would be in a position to join the party and battle midfield.

Make Platini the assistant/deep-lying playmaker and have a fluid trio >>>>>> Diego in a free-role
Platini and Diego could work together
>>>>>>>>> The French would attract defensive midfielders
>>>>>>>>> Rivaldo-Batigol-Diego would be a very complimentary
>>>>>>>>> Rivaldo can join Bati in tyhe penalty area
>>>>>>>>> Cafu to offer great options for Diego who would have a free-role.
>>>>>>>>> Beckenbauer entering the midfield

No - :nono: - Diego does not deserve to play with sheeps even if he can transform an injured sheep into a very good football player.

Nice, deserved fans in the stadium, although Brazil probably not the best place to do it.

This is an ad from Quilmes beer: "The first Copa with God in Heaven"
