I'm going to pay a compliment to him and say that I felt safe with him having the ball in possession. That might not seem like much, but it's not something I generally feel about our wingbacks. Even with his rawness he doesn't exude brainfart on the ball, and given his age, that's a very good start.

My prediction is: He will be our starting left back in 3 years time, then at Real madrid, Barca or PSG in 6.

The BBC have a glowing article about him already so he can't have been that bad?

For fecks sake...

People are already writing stuff like "I don't trust him..."

Give the lad a chance...even for an Internet forum, that is ridiculously early to make such a harsh remark. He is 17 years old, right? Literally just got off the plane and joined his new team...and plays 45 mins of a friendly...

WOW...just, fecking WOW...tap the brakes on your criticism guys...otherwise, you will be in for a very miserable ride.

Early Valencia was an underrated beast.

But later Valencia almost became a meme for just getting to the edge of the box, completely stopping like he's heard the tape go off musical chairs and absolutely smashing a ball aimlessly into defenders' shins.
Was this around the time Mourinho called him the best right back in the World and captained us to the Europa League trophy, being both right back and right wing at the same time?

I was at the game, he looked lost tactically. He was ok on the ball tbf and looks physically ready but will need a lot of work (which is to be expected).

He had 1 personal issue yesterday where Gnonto played a pass as he came out to pressure him and then he ran in behind for the 1-2 and Leon had switched off. Other than that while Pedro Leon and Shaw had a tougher time than the other flank thanks to Gnonto and the defender combining, it was just natural from them being Leeds better players. Unfortunately he only had 1 chance to open his legs and run at full speed near the beginning other than that we didnt get to see him racing. He did flick one pass through in attack. Mediocre game overall and Dorgu was better when he came on, not too surprising in the first game

Standard reaction you'd expect after one half of a pre season game.

Well summed up

Completely agree. Too many children expecting him to be Roberto Carlos right away.

A huge talent - but he is far away from starting in the P.L - and at 18 in a different country, he should be. The fact that he is given this oppotunity so quickly says a lot about how talented Amorim thinks he is. Use him some months for the U21s and drill him in the defensive thinking - and he might be pushing for a first-team spot in a years time

He's a unit - seems to be handling the physicality of PL teams well in the pre-season games. I can see why the coaching staff allowed Amass to go on loan, and keep Leon in the squad

I think the decision to send Amass on loan is he needs to play football at this point and make the physical development for his age. For Leon, he's a young guy just moving to England, he'll need to settle in and get used to the country and environment before we start sending him on loan. I doubt he'll get actual game time this season in the first team. Probably just reserves, unless we have an injury crisis. Dorgu will play every game he's fit for, otherwise it'll be Dalot at LWB I'd bet, or Shaw.

Would agree with this. In my opinion we keep him because he's new to the country and continent, not because he's more ready. Might get a few minutes here and there, but don't expect him to feature regularly

I think he's class. Give him a couple years as an understudy and he could turn out to be a very underrated signing.

Physically he is there, technically he looks sound, just needs time to develop in terms of getting used to higher & faster pro level of football.

Yep from what I saw until now he needs to work on positioning and awareness. He has all the physical attributes and willingness is already useful going forward but looks lost defensively. But he can learn that. He has time on this side.

Evra played in 2 back to back Champions League final campaigns with Monaco and was in French Ligue Best XI for like 4 years before coming to United.

So enthusiastic and competitive, I really like his attitude already. Think he will add to the dressing room with energy alone. Keep him until Christmas at least.

I don't know why, but his tumble makes me laugh every time I see it. I've seen others, but none make me chuckle like this one.

Why did he not participate in the unveiling before the match yesterday? Is he not considered a first team signing? Going out on loan?

He was presented before the game, but wasnt in the photo that Sesko, Mbeumo and Cunha took iirc

That's what I was referring to. Didn't catch the first part.
Yep they gave him his own presentation after Cunha and before Mbuemo. I thought it was strange he wasn't in the main photo but they may have done separate pictures with the foursome.

Considering his age and his story its understandable. I think he'll spend this season as 3rd or even 4th choice LWB though so don't see him getting many minutes at all.

He had his own picture with them group tbf
