I thought he was excellent, found space well, drove with the ball, his passing was very good and solid defensively.

Always said you would struggle to find an available upgrade on Dalot. He’s our only defender who can get up and down with a good burst. Sure he may have moments but you would need to be getting a Hakimi or someone to replace him.

Never understood the hate for the guy. Solid performance today.

Credit to him. He's playing with confidence and having fewer brain farts these days. On the rare occasions where Spurs tried countering, he showed good recovery pace to win the ball back.

Has he really been playing as a right-back?

His starting position looks to be at RCB with quite a lot of freedom to join in attack.

Players finding form playing in their positions. Who would have thought.

Another solid shift, sat back a bit more than was needed but in the end fit the groove of the flow of play.

Glad to see him prove people like me wrong in the Carrick term, has been much improved. I understand the over exuberance from his fans too but I think it remains the fact we must improve on a RB. He has showed the reasons before which will prevent him being a top class player, however games like this can only help his case

I'm very happy to see him playing well. I'll say it again, Dalot has all the tools to cement himself as a top class RB, his problem has always been putting it all together. Carrick has identified his strengths the same way Ten Hag did, inverted RB who steps into midfield and plays as a 3rd CB in possession where his strength pace and technique enables him to kill off attacks quickly or progress the ball with ease.

His passing range is really good as well, he's very ambipedal as well.
Dalot's never been a bad player, frustrating sure but you don't get into that Portugal national team if you aren't a serious player. Long may his good form continue.

Seems Carrick has him more inverted with Amad giving width, which is smart since his best ever season with us that’s where he played (22/23).

Dalot is a phenomenal athlete and good carrier, he’s far more useful tuck in than he is as a true flying fullback (although he was fantastic today all around)

Solid again, but too many of our fans have a hard on for wanting him to be shite

Yeah it's disgraceful. There's a lot on here who really seem to hate the guy.

It was the same with Fellaini. Guy got bullied by a portion of the fanbase.

Yeah, he's letting him abuse his athleticism while giving solidity to the defense and midfield. He muscled off Sarr at one point coming from an unfavourable position. It does leave Amad a bit isolated at times which probably why Mbemo was playing more on the right in the 2nd half.

He's been very solid after Carrick took over. Playing in his best position will do him a world of good, and he also keeps it simpler. Obviously, he was unfairly treated for playing in a position that isn't natural to him. Gary Neville would've been a terrible wingback, especially a left wingback. Continue like this, buy a young up and coming RB with real attacking intent, and we are set for that position.

It's funny when players try to outpace him on a 30-40 yard run. Has that ever worked?

Strong game from Diogo, excellent assist too

Even though (i guess) he was aiming for sesko, it was a very good cross for Sesko as well. Not every good shot or cross find the target always, so it is nice it wasn't wasted.

The amount of people saying RB is priority 1 are clueless. When he plays in a back 4 he’s been very good, Amorim was ruining him at a position that was always going to be unrealistic for him to fill.

Look at his average position on Sofascore and compare it to Shaw on the other side in the last two games. Their heatmaps are also quite different. He's more central and very close to Maguire.

Exactly. He has always been a decent Right back. Switch him between right wing back, left back and left wing back you have a shit player.
And fans blame the player.

He’s a right back. We’re playing with two CBs and two fullbacks.

Thing is when he finds form and remains consistent he is a very good premier league right back. He's not exceptional and maybe he never will be, but he can have the occasional excellent game. Ten Haag’s first season Dalot was really good for a lot of it. He is such a confidence player. There have been times over the last two seasons where he couldn’t trap or pass a ball to save his life. But now he can and he has the potential to just be one of those players that is always a 7/10. He’s hitting the classic ‘peak’ age, so it might now be his time to just be consistent for the next few years.

I think to be a prem and CL winning he needs replacing, but if he can maintain this form (which is also directly related to him being a RB again and not a wing back) then he’s not top of the list of replacing for the next few windows. Him and Maz are two very good options for RB.

Diogo Dalot vs Garry Neville

Who do you pick as your RB choice?

I honestly do not remember what Garry strengths really were. Obviously he had many as you do not start every week for a club this size. One thing Dalot has over Garry is his versatility as he can do a job in different positions. Would we be this successful if Dalot was played in G.Nevs position back then?

I’m glad Dalot is playing well, but there’s no one who has seen both play that would ever pick Dalot.

He's inverting instead of playing at wingback and that's where his strengths lie. Sometimes it's just as simple as that.

Bobby Noble was the best right back post Munich

It’s very strange.
I don’t think it is. Yes he’s played better since Carrick came in…but I will never be convinced by him as he has an extensive body of terrible performances and braindead mistakes spanning several years and countless managers under his belt
