He'll look better if the team is better because he won't have as many chances to get confused at the back post, which is his most significant weakness. Should be just starting his prime, he's not going to get slower for another 3-4 years and presumably he can't get less sharp mentally. Fantastic athlete, only Dorgu looks in his league in that respect among our squad.

But I expect him to stay inconsistent, he's just a jumpier player than someone like Shaw, Irwin or Neville, all of whom rarely created chaos defensively by mis-reading play or falling asleep for a half second or losing their man or get their positioning wrong leading to gaps between him and the CB, and he's not quite as quick over short distances or has the same compete level as Evra did.

Always said you would struggle to find an available upgrade on Dalot. He’s our only defender who can get up and down with a good burst. Sure he may have moments but you would need to be getting a Hakimi or someone to replace him.

Never understood the hate for the guy. Solid performance today.

Precisely. It's the same irrational hate towards Bruno.

I think a lot of United fans are just redirecting their own personal angst or rage onto our own footballers.

Very precise sum up. Now or the next year would be a really good time to target promising talents for his and Shaw’s position. That would make the progress of the new player better, while also pushing Shaw/Dalot to perform more.

I think the ceiling we see with Dalot, is as high as it will ever get. It would just be nice if it was constant.

Thought he was decent today, he’s really improved overall since Carrick took charge, making overlapping runs for Amad, still has the odd sloppy error in him, but no complaints, would be a great squad player in a title side.

When he had space he really ran into it and pushed everything further forward. When he needs to defend he is in position and usually deals with the danger. He has been solid although I have given up on him years ago

Yes, he's back in his best position, but you can clearly see his touch and ball control is back. Dalot is simply back in form; the way we used to see him a couple of seasons back.

He, in my opinion, over the last few seasons, earned himself some slack. He is doing well, and hopefully, with this new, more balanced, settled, and confident team structure, he can still learn how to highlight the good aspects of his game. His cross for Sesko resulting in Bruno's goal.. plus he should shoot more often, but engage his brain before he does so..lol.. both he and Luke Shaw should be looking to score a couple each before the season is out. They are both good enough.

The tools are all there, he's a supreme athlete and good technician (other than most of his crossing). The issue isn't application as he's always been a trier. It's just his brain. Might be too late to fix that but I'd love to see him find the mental consistency.

Ironically it’s only aimed at certain players. Each poster has their own agenda or narrative in their head.

Credit where it's due. He has been really good lately. The cross for Bruno's goal was a peach.

He's a very funny player in the sense that he has everything in his locker, but just has some crazy brain farts at times, especially on the ball and sometimes just loses focus defensively. Haven't seen a lot of that in the last 4 games. Please keep this consistency till the end of the season.

Summerville has scored 5 in his last 5 games. Dalot's been quietly good in these last few matches, but he's gonna have to be on top of his game especially tomorrow.

I really like the lad when he's in form. He's got great energy, good movement, and is always capable of firing in a great cross or a fierce shot, as well as combining delicately – even if he sometimes has the occasional brain fart.

I'd prefer him being more of a utility player, but with Maz and him, I think we'll be fine even for next season.

I do like the positional tweak that Carrick has made to invert Dalot at times. It feels like our midfield has more control than you'd expect when Bruno is roaming forward as a 10. I credit that midfield control in part due to Dalot contributing in central areas of the pitch. He is a more intelligent full back than people give him credit for. There is a reason why all of his managers seem to like him.

Struggled with Summerville and had some poor moments. Will have to be taken off the leash a bit more if the plan to have Shaw free on the otherside because that can't be the answer going forward.

This guy cannot help himself. He’s like that guy during a kick about you have to say “easy pass” cause he’s going to try some foolishness in his own half

We need to do something urgently with that position. This guy fecked it every single time he had the ball. It was irritating to watch.

Back to being woeful. If he isn't physically superior to his attacker, he always struggles defensively. That's always going to be a major issue with him, as he's not electric off the mark - he's great for top speed, but not acceleration. His positioning and anticipation when defensing quick wingers simply isn't good enough. Also, his crossing can go from excellent to atrocious in a couple of days, as is the norm with him.

Rumoured that there are some clubs interested in him this summer - ship him off.

He has a problem with any tricky winger. You could see his brain almost freeze in real time.

I also don't think the positions he's taking since Dorgu got injured are helpful in a game like this.

West Ham packed the centre. Not sure why we decided to put Dalot in there too.

I've got nothing against him, he's just bang average and very clearly just a squad player. Lacks quality on the ball, and his passing and crossing are both simply not good enough to be a starting right back for a top 4 team.

So bad. It felt like he just sucked all the confidence out of the back line with some of his decision making early in the game.

Can’t play simple passes or make simple decisions. Purely based on that he’s not top half of the table quality. Might be a decent right back for Burnley

Did one good thing all game, the run in behind early in the second half but then Amad refused to pass him the ball.

I'm still annoyed about that. I get it likely would have resulted in nothing but in a game with so few opportunities to get in behind you have to take that.

I was shaking my head when I read the praise last week. He's been so bad for such a long time. We better get rid.

Got shown up today as the weak link in a game where we boss possession, so many moves ended at his feet. Game was crying out for the extra quality of Maz.

Can our coaches just stick him on crossing practice in every training session until his technique improves? It's been like this for years. For every assist for Bruno vs Spurs, there's 100 overhit crosses in between.

We need a starting RB in the summer.

He's been unreliable the past few seasons. Besides 1 purple patch under ETH, I'm not sure he's had a good season besides that.

Not sure AWB is that much worse than him and he's at West Ham.
