Hoping he has a full year at right back to forge a really productive partnership with Amad.
 
Complain all you want until we get someone else in. Mazraoui may be better in certain aspects but Dalot is twice the athlete and ergo the default better player for us at RB.

That's a bit much, but I do agree he's better than given credit for. The difference between him and Maz is quite clear. He's a 7/10 player most games and as a FB that's usually good enough.

He's a definitely better off the ball than on it, but he's one of the few players we have who I would guarantee would move upwards if he left us. Would be an asset for any team in the world with his professionalism, flexibility and injury record.
 
He is a great athlete and that helps a lot at fullback. Glad to have his energy back.
 
Gets fair too much vitriol from the board. He isn't as big as issue as everyone makes out.
 
As others have said, his athleticism is an absolute must in this back line.
 
Created space and opportunities by virtue of simply having the legs to be there on the overlap whilst also having decent technique and game awareness. Unfortunately, an invaluable attribute in our squad that very little possess.

Shocking by others to lump him in with Maguire and Shaw.
 
He's close to being a very good player. Ultimately tends to fall short at key moments to hit that bar, but he's always fit, has very good energy, strength, size, speed, is good in the air, and is very good on the ball as well. Very good final ball today, and did his part defensively.

Gets far too much hate from people when in reality he is very low down the list of positions that need addressing.
 
His physicality just improves us. His acceleration is very good and it's essential while pressing high. Him being able to instantly burst forward and pick up loose balls helped us keep Ipswich away from our half for long periods. We tend to do well when he starts.
 
Very good as he has been for a while. His engine and pace alone means we are much more effective going forwards and backwards. If we could clone a left footed version of him for the opposite flank we'd be a scary prospect.
 
As posters have already said it was typical Dalot. Some good moments going forward, good runs, good energy, a good cross at one point, a decent shot too. And a couple of good pieces of defending. But also switched off at the back post for a Davis chance where he had a tame effort straight at Lammens, etc. a few poor moments. He's a mixed bag and somewhere around a 6.5 to 7 out of 10
 
I will say, whenever you watch him live, he makes countless central runs in behind which are very often excellent, but are largely ignored.
 
I’ve liked him for the past three or four years. Always been perplexed at the hate he gets. A very consistent right back and one of the best in the league imo
 
He has a great engine,if he could only whip in a good cross he would be what we need as a RB. However it is all a bit hit and hope.

What this does is makes it easier to break down the opposition.

Dalot is making runs like an inverted forward everywhere.

He lacks end product from this but makes the rest of the team better because of how industrious he is with his running.
 
He has his limitations but he is the best RB and makes the team better. One bad lapse in the first half but decent all round performance in the end.

He was with Maeda, Davis should have been marked by Mbeumo. The same situation as the 1st goal.

Nah Maeda skinned Mbeumo early on. Dalot let Davis in at the far post where he had that weak effort that went into the floor and straight at Lammens, not the goal.
 
He is easily our best Rb.

Use Maz only for games where there is a top winger to defend against.

Dalot gives different level of energy.
 
Was chatting to a mate during the game, if Dalot could shoot we'd have half a player on our hands. He gets himself in a lot of goal scoring opportunities.
 
I haven't bothered to fact-check it, but apparently we've won 45 out of 51 possible points when Dalot starts at RB and Carrick is the manager? It could of course be one of those freaky stats that doesn't really mean much, but I've never thought that Dalot is as bad as suggested in here.

It seemed to be a theme in the 2nd half of last season whenever we dropped him for Maz we put in a stinker. Newcastle and Leeds come to mind. Maz to be fair wasn't playing much and looked very rusty whenever he came in, he started to look a bit better in the final few games of the season.

But in general Dalot is just a better option, he seems to have better chemistry with our attackers, more involved in attack, has good ball carrying, and adds a bit of pace and athleticism to a defence that is lacking it.

When we come to sell one of them next summer to make room for hopefully a new top class right back, at the moment it would be Mazraoui I'd be moving on.

Even with significant money, we are unlikely to get a substantial upgrade. He's one of the players in our squad who is good enough for any level we are aiming for.

Agreed, the hate he gets is crazy. He can have an almost perfect game and people will bitch and moan about a misplaced pass. Im also shocked about how many people discredit his athleticism and speed. Id spend money on a big athletic CB and LB long before I replaced him.
