Diogo Dalot | 2026/27 Performances

Had a good game, great energy - as usual. Ipswich understandably focused on attacks down the United left flank, which again showed the weakness of Shaw. Dalot, able to dedicate more of his game to the other half of the field, almost scored a cracker and delivered a few really dangerous crosses. It was good to see, wish him well for the season.

He's quietly become one of our most consistent performers - was the case for most of last season too. This is coming from someone who did not rate him at all in previous years - the brain farts seem to be a lot rarer these days.

Agreed. He's looked way better in a 4 in my opinion. Kinda nice seeing his name and not thinking how's he gonna mess up the game, just does his 6/10 and that's enough for me until we can finally get a better player.

Even with significant money, we are unlikely to get a substantial upgrade. He's one of the players in our squad who is good enough for any level we are aiming for.
Agreed. He's honestly the least of our issues. Some people haven't been fond of him for a while, but 3ATB definitely did a number on his rep.

Agreed, the hate he gets is crazy. He can have an almost perfect game and people will bitch and moan about a misplaced pass. Im also shocked about how many people discredit his athleticism and speed. Id spend money on a big athletic CB and LB long before I replaced him.
There are those that think Shaw is faster, so…

I don’t think he’s quite good enough, but he’s also not high on the priority list of outgoings.

Terrible. Don’t know if it’s by design but he needs to stop some of his runs and where he goes as him not being where he is supposed to be is not helping us sustain attacks.

Not to mention people covering for him when he is out on the LW then decides to jog or complain instead of getting back in to shape.

Yeah probably the worst game he’s had in a while. Both George and Grealish got the better of him.

It won't be his fault as it's clearly tactical, but he keeps ending up in the centre forward position when we attack and I hate it. Absolutely nothing good comes of it, leaves our right side empty, just awful.

Mmm, not sure about that. That would suggest our last three managers have all had the same tactics and thought it wise to have him in better positions than people with more than five career goals to their name. He plays where he wants. He used to fancy himself as a midfielder and now it’s an attacker.

Even if it is him doing it on his own, then the manager should just tell him to stop, so I'd still be bringing it back to the coaching/instructions.

Absolutely. I imagine we’d drop him if his backup wasn’t useless too.

He's crap but seemingly the least worst option at right back.

Sad state of affairs.

He’s not crap. The vision you have in your head of the perfect right back is not achievable
He really is crap. Far more negatives than positives. And should definitely not be considered a suitable RB for Manchester United. We aren't seeking the perfect right back...Just better than Dalot.

This is how he survives season after season at this club. There’s always a bigger problem so let’s stick with Dalot for one more year.

Denis Irwin is the perfect full back.

You don't think it's achievable to find a player who can contribute positively in defence and attack. Whilst not playing stupid blind passes into midfield.

How he's lasted as long as he has at Utd is ridiculous. Should have been dumped after the Ac Milan loan.

You keep saying this but that was years ago and he wasn’t. No point crying over spilled milk.

He’s our best FB left. Some People keep getting their knickers in a twist over him, can’t get past the narratives about him.

Could he be replaced? Yes
Is he a priority? No

With all honesty RB should be right after a LB in the pecking order, maybe striker and a CB in the mix but top 3 priority nevertheless. Top clubs dont let players like Dalot have a free run at the RB spot for years.

The amount of times he is in a good position (naturally) to play a final pass/ to score and does NOTHING is just appaling. These are the half chances we can convert and we do nothing because we have sucha limited player who runs around a lot and "do a job".

Right now Dalot is about as good as Shaw - more athletic but way worse in passing and under pressure, worse vision, when he tucks in midfield is actually very usefull. Delivery about the same for both players, it's only his legs he's got over Shaw who is in a decent shape now I think. So I'd say

I think once we sign Hall people will understand what having a fullback means and what having a proper all action FB which doesnt ruin every second promising attack means.

Doesn't mean he's a good player.

Both full back positions have needed to be fixed for years, it should be a priority.

Have you watched the last 2 matches at all?

I'll never understand why our formations keep resulting in him being the most attacking player - even in the opposition box. Surely he's the last man we want in those positions.

Yeah drives me mad how he seems to be the one who sees the most of the ball in the final third, while being probably the least likely of our attacking players to do anything.

Another reason we need an upgrade at RB. We need someone who can be threatening in these positions.

I think part of it has to be his nous when it comes to offensive positioning/runs. We don’t see this when Maz or Yoro play at RB.

250 games...

He's absolutely useless, brain dead, can't defend, can't attack, can't cross, can't pass.

Still he's played 250 games for Man Utd and will play more.

We need 4 fullbacks, I’m still baffled how we didn’t sign even one this summer.

He’s our best option at RB but he’s nowhere near good enough and he was awful today.

The mistake Dorgu makes for the goal, Dalot did about 3/4 of them and still stayed on.

Mediocrity being encouraged and you get punished for it.

What is he good at?

Passing - no
Crossing - no
Tackling - no
Dribbling - no
Ball control - no
Leadership - no

He really is a nothing player. How he finished the 90 minutes is surprising.

Turns out his ability to stay fit is actually self sabotage for the team.

How on earth is he still playing for us - utterly brainless and clumsy at both ends of the pitch.

Oh well, at least he’s a nice guy and first in for raining every day.

I start every game intending to count his dumb plays, and I always stop after the first half hour.
