Sounds good. Any reason you only used tracks from Please and Actually ?
I did it for a friend in work who loves their early stuff but not the 90s 00s stuff. The original mix was with all full length tracks, but I edited it down for soundcloud.

Just sold my copy of [a:rpia:r] 01 for nearly 70 quid. Paid 45 a couple of years ago. Madness.

Some mega tracks on it that sound unreal on wax though. I already regret it

Did this 70s Euro Symphonic Disco Mix some years back. Beat matching on 70s disco grooves is tough with manual drumming.

"Paradise" refers to the legendary Paradise garage in New York.

cheers Guys,

I reckon I should probably get another one out. Got a load of tracks in my Trazsource basket. Just need to clean up my selection as there's way too many for a single mix

Wondering if there's anyone here who used to mix in the old days with nothing but three Sony SLR decks, a mixer, a reel to reel and razor blade, and effects modules?
Desperately wanted a sampler in 89 but they were insanely expensive back then.
Software is so easy compared to those days!

Nothing like a wicked crowd, and feeling inspired on the decks. Used to play various venues in Hertfordshire in the late 80s / early 90s, and hung it up for 25 years, getting back into it.

Amazing feeling when you're in the zone as well, and everything is coming off for you real nice, and the crowd is vibing perfectly. Like anything you throw on they'll love.

On the contrary, nothing worse than one of those nights where it feels like you're fighting with every other mix. Dunno why that happens.

What style (house/trance/techno etc) ?
I play minimal technoey stuff with electro elements. Minimal like Francesco Del Garda, Margaret Dygas, Nicolas Lutz, DJ Tree kinda stuff, but maybe a little bit more driving. Not minimal like the old Hawtin type.

Big fan of Romanian minimal too - Rhadoo, Raresh, Priku and the like. But tend to play a bit more upbeat.

Did a 2020 re-work of a massive club classic from 1982. Don't usually tend to do re-edits and reworks, but it's fun to overlay old funk dance tracks with a more serious drum pattern, and loop sections with sweeping phasers etc.
Anyone remember Sharon Brown - I Specialize In Love?

I was quite lucky to meet them all last year at Epizode just before Corona.

My brain can't get pregnant!
I've started a track I.d. group on Facebook as there doesn't seem to be many decent ones and the ones I do know are genre or era specific. The best one around used to be on Discogs forum but that's hardly uses as much now and again that's great for oldskool but not so much recent house and trance etc..

So I have started one on Facebook and amy trying to get as many join as possible to help with everyone's unknowns. Please could you all join, and after doing so just send out as many invited to like minded friends and fellow DJ's and music lovers as you can.

Yeah it is good but it requires email to join, you have to follow their Instagram account too and they only accept new members every month. On top of that you have to answer questions about your music tastes. As I said, it's a lot of faffing around and it puts lots of users off from joining.

Really like this. Been playing it with call of duty this week. Really has that chilled balearic house sound.
Also been playing some of your earlier mixes. Love the classic house mix from the early 90s.

Has anyone here dabbled with music production software like, FL Studio, Ableton, Cuebase etc in reworking and re-editing old dance classics?
I've been using FL Studio with a midi keyboard to rework some old 70s and 80s disco classics. These studio packages are so bloody complicated for people who not musicians.
I really like the Dr Packer, Joey Negro and Dimitri from Paris reworks.

I use Ableton and have had several EPs signed. It does take a long time to learn, especially if you want to do it properly and not just throwing sample packs together.

Cheers man. This sound has been one that I've been really into recently. I was 18 in 1991 so went through the rave (just missed the summer of love) and house era first time round... so playing those classic tunes takes me right back to some very hazy nights! Crazy to think of them as 30 years old now

Has a bit of Salted Music / Miguel Migs at the outset.

Very enjoyable.

Blending music patterns, effects and automations throughout the project timeline is so complicated, but the rewards are amazing.
The plugins you get from Arturia when you buy their midi keyboards are absolutely fantastic.

Yeah Arturia makes some good stuff. In the early days I always found the hardest thing was having things change up enough to keep it interesting. It's also really difficult to gauge your own work. I'd be super critical of my own, then listen to someone I love leave the same 4 bar loop going for ages.

The early days of house were really exciting. Back in the mid 80s, the electro hip hop scene was phasing into gangster rap, and soul funk was running out of steam. There just seemed to be an anticipation of something new, and when the early chicago house sound hit the pirate radio stations and clubs around 1986, it was huge. It was pure underground in those days, and I used to spend a fortune buying imports in London. Grooves, Hitman, Blubirds, Virgin megastore. Commercial radio hated house in those days, so people tuned in to pirate stations instead. For me house will always be underground.
