Rumours that we're (and Arsenal) looking at Kauá Elias, Brazilian striker for Shakter Donetsk.
Apparently scored a perfect hat trick with our scouts in attendance. That would be enough for me (only half joking) but otherwise really like the profile from the highlights. Quick but doesn’t rely on pace, not exceptionally tall but has a good leap, very good strength and hold up (at 20 as well), and most importantly plays with his head up. Finishing maybe needs a bit more oomph - but yeah I like this one at £30m.
Either way with Zirkzee out we’ll be hearing things soon Im sure.

Not only does his finishing seem to lack power, he doesn't seem very fast either. Not sure where the potential x-factor in his game might come from.

I’ll be honest, I think you’re being harsh on all 3 goals, but I won’t try to convince you otherwise. On what he brings, I think it’s evident he got quite a lot of talents that could all improve as he matures, and I think that’s more valuable in a prospect than a single thing that they do exceptionally already. Greenwoods finishing was the best in any prospect Ive ever seen, but I do wonder if that’s why other elements of his game failed to develop - comfort in existing strengths.
Also just marrying this with the Santos transfer - I wonder if the recruitment team is putting a new emphasis on the intelligence and positioning of a player. When I see a player at this age who is getting a good amount of goals, but lacks that game breaking attribute like exceptional pace or a rocket finish, Im led to believe that they more often than not find themselves at the right place at the right time. That’s really valuable, and maybe what we’re seeing here.
Would getting Lukaku back as a short term back up / impact sub option be the worst idea in the world if the price and wages were right? Seems like he’s going to leave Napoli. Would need to check what his fitness was like though.
I'm not sure Greenwood is the best example to use to illustrate your point, considering his development has also been hindered by apparent attitude and laziness issues, together with his off-field issues.
Elias is currently playing at a pretty low level, and the defending is not good. At a higher level he may not get such chances and so maybe his game might be nullified.
On that note, it's interesting to see that United have also been apparently scouting Tresoldi of Brugge - he seems a pretty similar profile to Elias, and very much the kind of player you describe - a young striker without any particular stand-out attributes, but with good intelligence and positioning, often finding himself in the right place at the right time. However, he is significantly out-scoring Elias while playing in a more difficult league. He also looks to have a far more clean and clinical finishing technique than Elias, and managed to out-perform his xG last season.
I'm not entirely sure about Tresoldi for United either, but he seems a bit closer to United quality than Elias at the moment from my initial observations.
I would say that Santos' eye for a pass together with his passing technique gives him more than just intelligence and positioning. In that respect, maybe Tresoldi and Santos could be considered similar players but in different positions, with Tresoldi's eye for the net together with his finishing technique potentially being a comparable beneficial additional attribute.
Yeah, looked like a slower Vitor Roque from the vid. Didn't really blow me a away. Especially that last goal, had bags of space and still felt like he got caught up.

That’s funny I thought exactly the same about Tresoldi. I’m glad you brought him up. Again, I haven’t seen much of him. If you know more please say but yeah, like you say same profile. Sesko’s got all the technical and physical attributes you could want but in lieu of having another physical freak like Sesko, maybe you go with clever movement instead. Throw them on to find the gaps against tired legs. Im not against it.
Sounds like Tresoldi over Elias IF we move Zirkzee and Rashford which still looks like a huge ask

This Sesko injury is a concern and has gone on too long.
Now with Europe to compete in, we can't rely on using Cunha and Mbeumo up top all the time. We need them available in positions behind the striker and to have rotation options.
Zirkzee isn't a serious option.

One issue we have with Rashford, Cunha, Mbeumo, Amad, Dorgu + Lacey/Thompson being part of the squad, we realistically have too many wide attackers to give them all games.
I can see a world where they say Rashford, Cunha and Mbeumo have to share striker duties alongside Sesko, on the basis there won't be enough game time in the wide positions for everyone to share.
This won't satisfy a lot of fans as they don't consider Mbeumo/Cunha/Rashford as centre forwards but the truth is, if we did sign a striker, it's probably not going to be an impressive profile at this point and will just end up another body to fill a gap. A body that will have the fans asking "is he actually a better option than Mbeumo/Cunha/Rashford?"
My preference however is still to get rid of Zirkzee and Rashford and sign a genuinely decent striker. But I just have no faith in Rashford leaving now, and him staying leaves our squad horribly unbalanced with an excess of wide attackers. And I suspect we're too skint to afford a decent striker option, after we've sorted the midfielder and left back signings.

Seriously, if we're starting season With Rashford & Zirkzee as our attacking depth, Sesko better be running like that bunny from duracell commercial, entire season.
I still think this is a concern. Mbeumo looks reliable but no one else is looking like scoring consistent goals. Cunha and Sesko not looking fit to start the season causes more problems.
Let’s Watch the young lad from Villa Brian Madjo all season then put in a cheeky £50m bid, he might be the next big thing has the physicality and pace of a young Haaland.
