He's such a fecking moron. Bolton could cost him his presidency, so instead of treading carefully he decides to try and demean Bolton further with this 'very public termination' shit. He really is a stupid, vainglorious bully.
No. Nothing could cost him his presidency, and he knows it very well.

There is no doubting Trump's guilt its only a question of whether the GOP Senators decide to do the right thing or not .If witnesses are allowed its hard to see Trump being acquitted. If the Republicans see the big picture they will get rid of him. They may lose the election later this year but they could rebuild their party with a view to 2024.

Talk of the office staff floor today - Kobe and the Grammys - not a word about all the crazy shit that came out regarding Donnie. I kinda get it but still - most people are just woefully ignorant of the important things in a way. (And no I'm not minimizing the drama of Kobe.. Thats indeed sad) But you know....what the feck.

By the way - not sure it's been mentioned yet but there are reports that the WH lawyers and McConnell, etc knew about what Bolton would say in his book for weeks which is why they tried to rush the trial.

Again, complete bollocks. You can get the latest news summarized in your hand via your phone in seconds, whereas in the past you had to rely on once daily newspapers and perhaps a nightly news show.

There is zero reason for anyone who wants to to not be able to stay up to date with events, practically in real time. Any shite about people working too hard now is fecking laughable. People just don’t want to be interested in politics these days, and would rather care about stupid shit with Kardashians and reality TV than the stuff that actually matters to their lives.

I have no idea why you felt the need to explain that working people have it tougher now btw, I’m a socialist and a big Bernie fan, this stuff isn’t news to me.
How many Americans do you talk to on a daily basis?

You claim its "bollocks" from the UK but I talk to dozens/hundreds of American working/middle class every day and this Impeachment simply doesn't register with anyone outside the 10% of MSNBC/CNN watchers.

If you want to pretend this impeachment matters to people then continue pretending it does. People just aren't following the impeachment for a variety of reasons as I summarized. Just because YOU follow the "news" on your smart phone doesn't mean that's what the majority of the American working/middle class are following on their apps. What you are missing is that there is far more competition for attention on smart phones than there was 50 years ago when you only had the Big Three nightly news. Yesterday I saw probably over a hundred people talking about Kobe Bryant, zero people talking about impeachment from Friday to today.

There was a feature on BBC radio echoing this sentiment recently. They talked to a local radio station in an area that went from Democrat to Trump in the last election (I forget where) but they were not even covering the case in any detail because they said their listenership wasn't interested and saw the case as a bit of a nothing burger.

Ah, when in doubt fall back on the 'well if you're not American you just can't understand American stuff!' argument. Good work mate.

I didn't say it mattered to everyone, I said its fecking bullshit to argue that people don't have time due to work. They might use that excuse but its nothing more or less than an excuse for not bothering. Sorry if I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who can't follow impeachment because they're too busy playing Angry Birds or watching the Kardashians.

I asked you for evidence and all you did was post again "this is bolocks" without any supporting evidence.

Fact is, this impeachment is just not gaining any traction among the people. You have evidence to the contrary? Feel free to post it but your "that's bollocks" shit posting doesn't merit any more discussion when you can't even post anything to back up your assumptions from across the pond.

These things have zero material impact on the day to day lives of normal people and the crimes hes being impeached are inscrutable and most people dont care about them. The Democrats have failed to even impeach him properly, which isnt surprising since the people who run the party are beltway insiders and people who vacation in the hamptons.

So on a scale of a nothing-burger to a pizza with pineapple and jalapeños how big of a deal is this Bolton stuff?

I cannot tell anymore.

It's shaping up to be serious with Collins and Romney suggesting that they will vote for witnesses but I reckon they will end up at best being conscience votes agreed with McConnell leaving them 51/49 short. If it's 50/50 I can't see C.J. Roberts voting for anything other than allowing witnesses. It would be absolutely unprecedented if a Supreme Court Judge voted against having anything other than a legitimate trial.

It's either that or they choose to selectively pick the witnesses that favour them, hold them in a closed, classified setting and then have a series of votes deciding what evidence can be submitted on record from each testimony which would be the most Republican thing ever.

Not a big deal. Just embarrasses Trump.
Nothing is a big deal because the Senate will not convict him no matter the evidence.
They have already made it clear. Even if he's guilty, it does not rise to the level of impeachment.

It's extremely unlikely to be a "Donald Trump impeached" big deal. But it might feasibly lead to some Senate Republicans forcing through letting witnesses be called, i. e. John Bolton. And if John Bolton dislikes Donald Trump as much as this might indicate, which seems to be the case for everyone Trump hires, fires and then criticizes, then that could be a problem for either Trump's approval rating or his GOP cred. Both of those could hurt him in the general election.

At the very least, it's funny.

They need 2 more senators for it to matter. Can't believe the ones retiring because of Trump are still voting with him.

You were the one who made the initial claim that Americans work too much to follow impeachment. If you want to back that up then go for it, but until then it’s bollocks. As for this ‘traction’ stuff, that’s a whole other subject, and one I made no comment about.

They have a massive material effect on everyone’s lives, I’m so tired of hearing how people don’t think politics effects them. Sure if you don’t have a job, use healthcare, pay tax, claim welfare, travel or a million other things, then sure this doesn’t effect your life. Otherwise, yes of course it bloody does.

Exactly as expected. The entire point of this impeachment has been firstly to ensure that Trump's behaviour is condemned by the House and that goes on his record. Secondly to put the Senate Republicans on trial and show the country just how corrupt they are.

The polls show that the trial was effective in changing opinion about Trump and we've just got to hope that the Democrats are able to make their argument about the behaviour of Republican senators and propagate the message that they are all corrupt and complicit and breaking down the fabric of the country to protect a mad man.

Support amongst independents has jumped 12 points since the impeachment enquiry was announced:

Why are Trump's defense providing us with a history lesson?? They really are clutching at straws. They haven't spent much time refuting the actual evidence. Just harping on about the process. They are an embarrassment.
