Donny coming out saying he ca play 6 or 8 is a message to Ole. Clearly Ole does not rate him one bit.

He would rather have a player who cannot pass, cannot tackle, has no game sense over a player who can clearly pass and is press resistant.

I wouldn't mind for a few games Donny and McTominay as a partnership. I mean Fred is just a number at this point in our midfield isn't he?

Doesn't managment discuss a purchase, with the coaching staff, before they make it? Why spend $50 million on a player thats going to ride the bench. If he's an 8 and theres no space for him, then you would think that someone would note that beforehand.

OK, he is an imbecile with more than 1.2 million followers. I hold my hands up and agree with you. How many followers do you have? What makes you an expert?
Why are you being so sensitive about him? You can be an idiot with a lot of followers who want to casually view the channel as a guilty pleasure. It's probably more than half of the content genre out there. Why do you think AFTV have so many viewers? Because it's quality debates or entertaining to laugh at?

But if you're trying to bucket him with someone as reasonable views then you're just wrong, because he's not that.

Not sure why you're bringing me into it, I'm not trying to grow some brand or media channel  you just seem upset that goldbridge is shite and won't let it go.

I am not sensitive about anything. What I have a problem with is you calling someone an imbecile just because he has a different opinion to you. I have a different opinion from yours, so can I call you an imbecile?

You have a problem reading and understanding things, because I quite clearly stated its got nothing to do with him having a different opinion.

I even gave you named examples of people in the same field with different opinions whom I'd happily listen to.

And after 3 times of repeating this to you, you've gone back to "you don't like him because he has a different opinion".

If youre going to insinuate this again you're probably wumming

My first thought was that you were what you described the other person to be and you just keep proving me right. I'm done with you.

Donny being allowed to do interviews is a great sign. If he was still miles away or going out the door, the club would never sanction him going to the press and talking about his lack of game time up till now and how he's been training and struggling.

Ah, but he talks something you disagree with, but that does not make him an imbecile. People will have different opinions like you and I are having. He has over 1.2 million followers, so he must be doing something right.
Your conclusion, that Goldbridge is not an imbecile by virtue of holding opinions someone may disagree with, is sound, but your argument that because “he has 1.2 million followers, so he must be doing something right” is not.

Adolf Hitler had millions of followers, and still has millions of followers to this day, but it could hardly be said of him that he did something right.

But I do agree that Golbridge is no imbecile. He may act the WUM clown, but he’s no imbecile. Like so many other social media personalities, he’s found the ticket to getting people to watch his videos, which no true imbecile is capable of pulling off.

Care to elaborate?
He stopped giving interviews because he was short on confidence and didn't want to be asked about how the bench feels, duh doy.

You seriously thought an employer is able to ban an employee from giving an interview and this actually happened in VDB's case?

Legally stop? Dunno, would depend on the contract.

In reality? Players aren't going to give out interviews willy nilly unless they're willing to risk torpedoing their careers with their current club. Donny's interview doesnt come off as one of those.

Mate, VDB can give an interview whenevere wants. He'd just avoid a certain topic or avoid saying something "wrong", just like any media trained footballer.

It'd be illegal as feck for Ole to demand he doesn't give one and it's quite obvious he stopped giving interviews because he was low on confidence and didn't wanna answer questions about how the bench feels. You've seen him stroll about the pitch with 0 confidence waiting for the 4th official to put his number up too right?

Influencers aren't exactly known for their intelligence. Pretty sure one of the most popular influencers among young people these days was an idiot who mocked a suicide victim's body in a forest. Having sheep, sorry, I mean followers hardly makes you an expert on anything.

As for Goldbridge, I'd have to agree that from what I've heard from him, he is a bit of an idiot.

So what is your point?

You are seriously going to compare Hitler and Mark Goldbridge here, seriously?

Nothing against you friend, but how am I to know that you are not an idiot? You are providing your opinion here as well. I form my opinion and don't get influenced by anyone. I just posted a video link because he happened to discuss what I feel about the topic we were discussing.

@ghagua @lex talionis @VP89 Stop responding please.
This is the VDB thread. Take your Hitler Goldbridge comparisons to DM or open a new thread on Goldbridge without doing a Godwin.
Mate, you and ghagua need to read more carefully. I wasn't comparing Goldbridge to Hitler. I was only suggesting that the logic used to defend Goldbridge from the accusation that he is an imbecile, a characterization which I disagree with, was weak on multiple levels -- including the implication that he has 1.2 million followers that he therefore is "doing something right", is profoundly questionable at best. We can swap the name if you like, but I can name for you quite a few individuals past and present who aren't doing much of anything right but have millions of devoted followers.

His close ball control is something we could really make use of. I'd love to see him in a deeper or box to box sort of role. Just give him a run -- we have to take risks sometimes.
Watch when he plays next time. He might have close ball control but what i've noticed is that he just passes it straight back to the defender in most cases.

"don't tell me what to do", followed by "move along".

If you can't take it then don't dish it out. And I don't know why you quoted me, I had ended my debate some time before your quote.

You're aware of NDAs right? Contracts can include language about talking to the media. And I don't know how you've gone from whether a club has a player to give an interview to Ole demanding that a player doesn't give one.

And I have no idea how your point is remotely relevant to mine. VDB is giving interviews *now* for a reason, and that reason is that people at the club expect him to start getting more game time now. That has nothing to do with whether a player may or may not be able to do interviews due to club reasons. This isn't some random time Donny has decided to go to the media. He's out there on purpose knowing he'll get asked about game time.

Then don’t mischaracterize the writings of others if you’re not interested in reading them in the first place. You may now sit down.

He was comparing Goldbridge and Hitler. They both are popular and his followers are idiots was literally his point. He could've brought up 'Lil Wayne and made the same argument.

And you'd have to be a moron to bring up Hitler on a football forum and not get called out for it.
Actually you'd have to be a moron to bring up Hitler on a football forum. End of discussion.

But my point was mostly that you can go feck off to a different thread if you want to endlessly discuss Utd related content unrelated to VDB.

NDAs means you can't disclose certain things, it doesn't limit who you can speak to.
Actually banning him from speaking to someone regardless of topic would be a violation of his rights.
VDB has not signed an NDA that we know off and NDAs in the UK are limited in scope compared to the States.

So with Fred ineligible for selection and McSauce injured, does that mean Matic and Donny get the nod in the double pivot this weekend against Newcastle?

this midfield pair probably will get us completely run over by Newcastle. add Hannibal on left to form a midfield of three could give us the energy, pitch coverage, and the mobility.

Still not certain.

Pogba - Matic is quite likely, I'd say.

If I'm Donny Van de Beek and McFred aren't playing, Pogba getting back from three international games on the spin and Hannibal starts ahead of me (no disrespect to Hannibal, he's going to the top) and I'm still on the bench, the first thing I'd be doing when I get home, is pack my bags.

Since you seem concerned about this legal rights issue rather than my actual point about what Donny's interview means going forward, I'm going to take it we have nothing to discuss.

Yes, I was just responding to you bringing up NDA's to try and invalidate my point.
I just found it funny you thought Ole wasn't allowing VDB to give interviews, is all really.
