Why is it so hard for Solskjaer to give Van de Beek a proper chance, especially since the midfielders he starts every fecking game are utter shite? Hell, forget about a proper chance, at least give him a fecking start. Keeps talking shite before the games and then reminds us what a fraud he is with his selections.

Thanks Donny for your 2 years of nothing. We royally screwed you and wasted your career.

Wasted money buying him. Wasting his career not giving him any chances, no matter how poor the other midfielders are. Made even worse since he apparently had assurances he’d be given chances this season. Absolute incompetence from the manager.

If he's not starting today then he's never gonna start. Sick to death of all the stories about how impressive he is in training when we all know what the end result is gonna be.

Might have something to do with Donny not being a central midfielder. But hey ho.

Can't believe people are still surprised. Pretty sure all those "he's impressing in training" stories must be planted by his team/agent to help with a January move.

Wasn't allowed to leave in the summer.

Not allowed to play now.

Most likely wont be allowed to leave in January.

Great man management from Ole, a thing he's supposed to be good at and praised for on here.

If we started playing him regularly and he did well, it would make Solskjaer look like a complete clown for barely giving him any game time over the last season and a half.

Why ole is treating him like this ? It’s almost personal now like he is hell bent on destroying VDB even at the cost of getting sacked himself. We aren’t talking about a league 2 player, we are talking about a international for a country like Netherlands who was a key player for a club like ajax who has tonnes of experience not only domestically but also in the champions league playing against the best sides.

How bad he can actually be if ole gives him a fecking start? Especially the players he has been playing are dogshit game after game. What an absolute fraud. I’m have no sympathy for him.

Indeed he’s painted himself into a corner now. I’m not defending it but it is in the manager’s interest now that he never plays

Yet he’s still more of a central midfielder than McTominay can ever be.
According to his old manager he plays number 10, false nine and move into spaces of number 11 and 7. Bruno’s ol manager said he was at his best as number 8. Not sure what you and your compadres base that statement on, but hey ho. As long as we got a stick to be negative with, eh!?

It must suck seeing your career being wasted by an amateur coach. It’s not like he’s being benched by Pep or someone who can properly assess one’s ability.

Beyond all belief. It’s a documented fact that McTominay has been horrific this season, yet he gets the start yet again while Donny rots on the bench, we’ll into Season Two of United “career”.

He should bin him into the stands then. Leaving him on the bench with the occasional 5 minutes is humiliation.

He really should put in a transfer request and leave. It’s for his best. As long as Ole is at the club, only McTominay and his other favorites will start, no matter how awful they perform.

Or.. He could just go and out and perform and make it hard for Ole to leave him out.

Last season he didn't do that, for all the wailing and gnashing of teeth, he didn't impact games, thus his opportunities dried up.
It’s pretty hard to impact games when you don’t have a run of games, playing 90 minutes only three times, two of which were in the last weeks of the season, the other a win against Southampton.

I don’t think anyone expects us to be title contenders in the team, it’s more of how he’s being treated and how other players can play like garbage but retain their spot in the team.

This could also apply to Lingard who has been promised “chances” only to not play at all really this season and several other players.

Ole will never start VdB. Not because he doesn't think he's any good. At this point, I think he knows how good he is, but if he starts him in the first team and he does really well, he's going to have to answer too many questions about why he didn't start him before. The problem is, Ole isn't man enough to admit that he may have been wrong...

So we are playing Bruno out of position at 10 then?

No. I usually go through heat maps after games. Suggest others the same. He is everywhere and has the freedom to be so.
But his old coach said he was at his best as number 8. Meaning he has a longer passing rate than DVB, who’s coach highlights the opposite. But Donny was and have never been a rival of mc tominay. But hey ho. Enjoy the match fellas!

So he was reported as doing really well in training that the manager publicly praised him…only to be parked on the bench so he can bring in Matic?

I knew he wasn’t starting. Ole is a coward — he’ll never give Donny a chance when his job is on the line.

That’s why his job is on the line in the first place — he does not have the ability to rotate the players at all.

Makes sense.

Hoping he could introduce him gradually at least.

Ease his mistake in.

Half an hour today. Second half the next game.

A start and 60 minutes....etc, etc...

This Donny lad looked decent, shame we didn't have him from the start of the season.

Easily our best player today. Played the balls in behind to pick out others movement and when he didnt have the ball made the runs forward to create space for others with the ball and offer them the chance to play him in. Fought hardest of our midfielders to win the ball too. Absolute joke we havent seen more of him

Not going to go overboard based on one cameo, especially given how tempting it is to do so based on the general fact that Ole isn't a good manager.

But....

It should be immediately apparent that putting a player with better technique and intelligence into midfield will have it's benefits and that's what VDB bring over Fred and McTominay. And it's bizzare that there haven't been more games where our manager decided that was a priority over whatever the feck he thought they were supposed to be providing.
