I wouldn't say winning the Europa League would SAVE the season. Just like winning the FA Cup didn't save last season. This is Manchester United, when you're so bad for so many matches, when you see the league as meaningless after 75% of the matches, it's unsavable.

Rather than save, I'd say winning the Europa League would simply mean we'd still get something out of the season.

It be great to win a trophy and all but like you said willing a trophy doesn't and should paint of the cracks that are there. If I had the choice next season of a league cup, fa cup win or see the team progress, I'd take progression every day of the week. Look at Liverpool when Klopp took over, that was a poor side, but we seen progression each season and they also got a slice of luck with some signings too, I'd of never thought salah, mane and firmino would of turned into the players they became. As long as I see a plan and we are in a better place this time next season than where we are now then that's all I want. A bit of fight and effort, we have seen it in glimpses this season but it needs to be consistent each week and if we lose a game or two or three then so be it but as long as the players give it 100% each game then you are on the right track.

Yeah, I remember that when Liverpool lost in the Europa League final at the end of Klopp's first season, people were talking about how he always loses finals. So he didn't win a trophy that year or the next, but it didn't turn bad for him or Liverpool...

It's the reward of CL football rather than the trophy itself that saves the season, and in fact the money will be absolutely vital for the rebuilding job that Ruben needs to do so it doesn't just save this season but potentially several!

Like I said on the pod, I'm currently ignoring our pathetic league form and just focused on Europa but at the end of the season we will discuss in more detail.

Just about to give this a listen while I walk the dog. Boss off today so getting a sneaky dog walk while I can and see what yous guys have to say

Very high potential, just hope he learns how to defend in the box better and in the air so he can be a complete player. Mentality wise he looks strong, loved his runs forward, looks like a future leader.
