It's a joke about Scott's obsession with his physique. That's all.
I always find there is truth to some jokes. Bruno could have not said anything or Joked about Mctominays physical appearance but he decided to be make a shady joke.

If you don't see it then that's quite astonishing considering many of his best games have come up against the stronger teams in the league. He may not be a permanent fixture for the future but who knows? He's been proving people wrong his whole career thus far.
Hopefully.

If you're going to use that Bruno tweet as proof of anything, I dread to think how your opinions on race relations have been informed by Bernardo Silva.
I merely found the tweet and Bruno’s joke amusing. It’s not something to be taken seriously. I don’t think anyone was/is trying to use it as “proof” of anything. The author of the tweet themselves were cracking a joke.

I find it extra humorous because it tugs at my own personal bias.

He could have made a joke about mctominays physical appearance which was what the instagram post was about but decided to make one about him concentrating on his footballing skills. We arent really projecting anything. Bruno doesn't rate mctominay and wants him to improve.
You don't rate and want him to 'improve'. And you're projecting that opinion onto Bruno. Footballers have never made jokes like that about their teammates and never will.

If you strip away any bias, it's clearly a joke about McTominay's vanity.

I do rate him and I also want him to improve his passing consistency. Ive always felt he was the ideal player for our middle because he has a large frame and comes from our academy.

Im really not projecting anything but I just find it strange that he chooses to make a joke about his footballing skills when the post is about his fitness. Maybe Im reading too much into it but oh well Im bored.

These are McTominay's participations since the October 2019 international break.

18 games, 13 wins, 3 draws, 2 losses. That's the form of a title challenging side when he plays.

He makes the team play better and win more matches. It's as simple as that.

Seems Bruno is not very impressed with Mctominay in training for him to make such a joke. I dont think he should be making those kind of jokes to be honest. Still its the truth. Mctominay has to develop a better technical side to his game other than the energy he brings to the middle. If he wants to displace Fred he has to at least improve his passing consistency.
So I don’t know if you’ve heard of this thing called banter? To be honest I’m not the biggest fan, so I don’t blame you if you aren’t really aware of it. But it’s this thing where people playfully insult each other, it’s very common amongst lads and incredibly common in football teams. Just wanted to warn you about it so if anyone does it to you you know not to take it seriously and maybe give it back a bit.

Bruno makes a joke about McTominay only working on his physique due to the pic and some clowns are taking it as a diss on his ball playing ability. Unreal.

The joke is just a joke.

If meant anything, it would mean 'to get a rig like that you must be working out so much I'm surprised if you have any time to train with the ball'. It does not mean 'don't forget to train with the ball too because currently you're shit, teammate of mine!'

It is embarrassing to have to explain this to adults who speak English.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
I watched a replay of MU vs Chelsea in the first PL match of the season yesterday, a 4-0 win. Scott and PP looked like they could form a very good partnership in the 4-2-3-1 Ole likes to play. Scott has exceeded expectations since he joined the first team. Playing in midfield 2 with PP or a midfield 3 with PP and Bruno, Scott would keep exceeding expectations, imo. Not that it means anything to his doubters, but WhoScored gave Scott a 7.3 rating playing DM and a 6.96 rating playing CM.
:drool:PP? Rare seeing that.

I agree with you. I do question how WS "counts" when he play DM and CM. Partnering up with Pogba doesn't mean he's playing DM. That system uses two base midfielders that basically play both CM&DM roles. Only the few games where Ole used 3 in midfield (excluding CAM) is where we can tell which two are CM and one is DM.

I can see from your point of view why. True, at times there is truth hidden within the jokes. Sometimes jokes are just jokes for fun with no truth so it's not always that. In this case and context, I doubt Bruno is making a shady joke. Seems more pointing to friendly banters.

Good post.

Curious of the stats for his previous two seasons. Bet it'll be similar.

And since people like to compare him with Fred... and at times Pogba. What are their stats may tell a lot. Additionally, stats with and without each other would also be far interesting.

It was a playful comment on an Instagram post, christ. Our fanbase loves reading into anything to criticize our own players, it's truly unique

Better than pogba at long shots?
I mean Pogba is supposed to have a great long shot but... for United McTominay has been better at them. Pogba has hardly scored any long shots, about as many in 3-4 seasons as Scott has in the last year or so, and Scott seems less wasteful of those opportunities. Although that could be to do with luck and the fact that we've been a far more attacking team in the last year.

No but he didn't cost £70m so he isn't good enough. I have seen numerous posts with Declan Rice mentioned.

This lad is much better than him and he is an academy product.

I love his attitude, and it is clear he wants to improve.

You have to go back to the season Leicester won for that form (88 points) to win you the league.

Love mctominay. Just saying.

He will play 3 maybe 400 games for United. Stats show he's pretty much indispensable. One sign of a top class player is that they don't have any weaknesses. Put him in the middle of the pitch and you win more games. He's no magician but you need technically capable beasts like him to win titles and trophies.

That is quite a big margin for error.
