Ederson - Atalanta Midfielder | no recent links to United

Ederson has had a mediocre season. His levels have dropped off so why are we paying more than what we offered last year. If we get a cut price deal it makes sense. Not otherwise. What we need is a Wharton type profile who can carrick those balls into the forwards.
Strange bump as there is no recent links to him

Talks between clubs for 35/40 mil fee.
Out of contract in June.

Nvm, missed the 2027 bit

All those years of stories linking us with him for way too much money and now hes going to Atletico for 35-40 million euros (£30 million to just under £35 million)

That's a fairly cheap 3rd midfielder signing. And he's all action too. We should be in the sweepstakes if that is truly the price range.

Clearly something has put us off him for making a move, however unsure what exactly that is

Meh, not too fussed about him, he doesn't even make it into a weakest Brazil team ever.

In a few seasons, I think the club will look back and wonder how they didn’t go for him at that price. For what he offers - complete, all-round quality - it feels like a genuine bargain in today’s market.

He's not that good.

I mean, at that price, things change. Great for a 3rd choice after getting in two primaries.

Would buy him for 40m, we wont get anyone better for that price, and we need quality and numbers.

Reminds me a bit of players like that Arthur lad, Felipe Melo, Emerson (Roma, Juve one) plus a few other Brazilian midfielders Sandra & Paula that were at Spurs.

I'd avoid paying over the odds for him.

Both are strictly balls winners or at least that's their main attributes. Ederson offers more, in my opinion.
No, both are more than ball winners but I havent seen Ederson and so, no comment on that. Point being, if he was good enough , he wouldn't be in his last year of contract with no links to big clubs.

I said that's their main attribute, which it is. I also consider Atletico a big club. He's also been linked to us and Arsenal a few times.

Not a good player with below average underlying stats. No idea why some people have a fascination for us signing him, he’s not great at anything

He’s got to be about 50 by now, feels like one of those we’re always linked with for years. We should be aiming higher and at better players.

Strikes me as player that looks good in Serie A because of his physical traits. Scott McT has just won POTY, and Lukaku before him, because of their physical traits. Think he’d look very ordinary in a more physically demanding league.

I have no idea why I'm saying this but I don't believe people have watched him play as much as they pretend they have. He feels like a player that's heard more on newspapers during the transfer window than actually during a season.

I haven't watched him but this guy gets linked every transfer window and no one buys him.

Surely he can't be that good? I guess Lookman looked very good for Atalanta and was surprised he didn't get a move sooner than he did

Reminds me of Andrea Belotti. Got quoted for a ridiculous price, only to be sunk into obscurity later.

His distribution is very average, and even though he's very athletic and gets around a lot, his positioning isn't great.

I’ve never seen Ederson play, but this is how I would describe Fred. How does he compare with Fred?

He is better than Fred, more technical, better at running with the ball. He is a b2b which is what Fred was (even if we didn't really use him like that).
