This guy any good? The Portuguese league is not one I keep up with at all. He's only 23 but he's being linked pretty heavily with a move to City and the Premier League. It would make sense after the season Bravo has had.

What happened with Rulli? Didn't City have some fairly complex deal giving them priority in signing him?

it is not complex, they have a buy back clause and can trigger it. Caballero has a contract til the end of the season, so i expect them to buy Rulli back at some point.

So why would they want Moraes too? Signing 3 GKs in 2 summers...?

Maybe one of the two, could be that Pep doesnt rate Rulli as highly and goes for Moraes. They could also sell Bravo next season and get the other one in if Bravo doesnt improve. I still expect Rulli to end up at City, maybe not this season. I remember reading reports in the summer and winter as if it was only a matter of time.

He's been great for Benfica, saved them a lot of crucial points this season. He'll probably leave in the summer, rumours say he already has everything agreed to go to City. But portuguese media is not trustworthy

Was great in the first leg of CL against Dortmund(only game i saw) saved Benfica.
He's in the Brazilian nt to the wc qualifiers.
Majority of pundits want him as starter over Alisson(Rome).

He's been very very good this season. Prone to an occasional rush of blood to the head but not many aren't.

Let's be frank, a cardboard cut out of Bravo would be of more use than actual Bravo as it wouldn't dive out of the way of shots, I reckon they should stick with having Willy at the back, seems they're settled with that now.

His contract runs out at the end of the season so I expect Bravo will become #2 to a new GK. Unless he wants games in which case Rulli could come in as well as the guys above discussed.

Surely you'll give Willy a longer stint at the rear? His handling has been smooth, controlled the balls well, he's very vocal which is never a bad thing really.

Pep better hope this guy can cut it in the prem, he's gonna look fecking stupid if not. Spunking 50 odd million on 2 keepers he needs to get this one right.

Think he will be a very good keeper. Didnt watch many Benfica games, but i watched them against Dortmund in the CL, looked like a top keeper, better than anything i have seen from Bravo

Will be interesting to see how the PL will adapt to his unique long shot power, i reckon alot of teams will struggle with their strong/bulk defenders.

I don't think Pep lets him kick long that much. Doesn't suit his style of play.

Would be foolish not to take advantage of it, of course not on every play but fast counters when the opponent is unbalanced.

I think he's a very very good keeper.

Apparently at fault for both our goals in the friendly.

I'm already thinking he could be the weak link that stops them from winning league. If he takes time to bed in, or has wobbles throughout the season, it's going to be very difficult for them.

If I was a City player, I'd already have lost confidence in my manager's ability to put a keeper in goal that is right for the job. So, there's a lot of pressure on Ederson right from the off.

Definitely the first was a boo-boo bombing out like that, second was a good cross shot from Rashford. It didnt phase him either, he was outside the box again quick enough in second half and got the ball first. Thought he done alright in the end. Was hoping he'd keep getting worse after the Lukaku goal, didnt really happen.

Remains to be seen how he handles it in a competitive environment.

Whilst he made a mistake with the Lukaku goal, other than that I was generally impressed with him. He was put under lots of pressure and generally stood firm apart from that Lukaku moment which was an error in judgement.

I think he'll overall turn out to be a good signing, but may struggle with growing pains in the first season.

Thought he was alright, but probably at fault for Lukakus goal, not for the second though. He's better than Bravo.

They're not having any luck with erratic, small, exotic goalkeepers, I say give it to Giggsy for a season.

Sweeper keeper!

On a serious note he's a good shot stopper. However, crosses aren't his forte. That will hurt City in games when they don't totally dominate the ball (as will Pep's insistence that his goalie participates in the build up and can't stay on his line ).

The mitigating factor for Lukaku's goal was that the ball spin towards him after the bounce. But I hope he turns out to Bravo Mk v2. Guardiola should genuinely be sacked if that happens!

Probably at fault? He most certainly was at fault. If he stays in his goal Lukaku doesn't score. Instead he came rushing out like a mad man to then bottled any attempt at the ball.

Good one-to-one reflexes though. Was hardly fazed at all, other than the Lukaku error, showed a cool head. Impressed by Phil Foden though. Good confidence, strong on the ball, looks like a Guardiola player. Probably, the next big thing from City's academy, if that's a thing, though! :smirk:

he's a sweeper keeper, his instinct is to try and clear up in that situation. Lukaku was too quick and rounded him suberbly but I'd rather praise what was a fantastic finish from our player than slate the keeper.

I'm not taking anything away from Lukaku, his finish was clinical. He still wouldn't have score from that angle had the keeper done his job. Even if he see's himself as a sweeper keeper.

He was a bit to blame for the Lukaku goal but aside from that he done ok. He made some good saves.

I think he will end up a good signing overall, although I do hope he is Bravo mark #2 obviously.
