Can't wait to overanalyze an 8 minute YouTube compilation later.
It's the footy financial year. July means it counts towards next year's spend. The July thing seems odd to me too. Why not just get it done? I know there's a world cup coming up but we've signed players before world cups. Remember Jaap Stam in 98?
Good to see us actually doing business early for a change.
Our #1 target wants to go play at the emptihad because they are offering 300k a week and would have cost 100m+But if we can’t sign a bigger target and it’s due to 15-20 million wouldn’t we look at ederson and say oh well wish we had our number one target?
We know the reasons - Mark Goldbridge et al moaning on that we are too slow and we fkd up etc. Sells likes. We do business no earlier or later than any other team. This is just one of a few transfer falsities that is strangely perpetuated for reasons unknown.

I’m not sure referencing a transfer dealing from nearly 30 years ago holds much relevance in the modern world! The July thing seems odd to me too. Why not just get it done? I know there's a world cup coming up but we've signed players before world cups. Remember Jaap Stam in 98?
Focusing on the priority is nice in an ideal world and we would probably do that if there was a release clause e.g. Cuhna last year.I would feel better if we got priorities over the line first.
I would feel better if we courted some players then signed them on a free.
I do see how the midfield is dire but still wish priorities were signed. Seems like clubs like to drag us out but people still believe he is 3rd choice. He could become first choice if we don’t do the other two deals
This is a very smart signing. He is very fast and covers a lot of ground. I suspect he will be playing a lot. We need someone in the middle of the park to work tirelessly.
We could have signed him for 20m and some would still be complaining.
Good signing and squad addition. Hopefully he makes the transition to the faster paced PL well.
Yes, as are some of the counter attacks this side produces. They're not that far away, although I'd definitely rate the 20/21 side higher. Is he now ? That 20/21 side was frightening...
If not for the awful start to the season which was due to the non-existent vacation the players got, that team would have fought for the title.
7 points from the first 6 games - but after that we lost once in 28 games. 18 wins, 9 draws and one defeat. Goal difference of 55-22 in those 28 games. Some of the counter attacks that team had was scary
PervertsYeah, the transfer perverts really only want big sexy names or the supposed next big thing with potential

It's because he's the first transfer. Nobody is going to talk about Ederson if/once we sign a proper first choice midfielder (for big bucks too I reckon). Ederson in isolation isn't a sexy signing. I think it's fair, he will be the supporting cast anyway. In that way I am happy with the transfer. But not impressed in the slightest by his football skills.find it weird how people are annoyed at securing an Ugarte replacement for 35m early June
Well, yes because most people don't care about the transfer fee anyway. At the same time, I also don't give a feck if we spend 100m on Anderson. In the end it's all about how the pieces come together. Ederson in isolation is hardly an exciting transfer, I think it's fair to admit that.We could have signed him for 20m and some would still be complaining.

He has been very good in Italy, but anyone saw him or an idea on how he played against English teams in Champions League or Europa leagueAtlanta demand £60m + for Ederson last summer. So an almost £26m discount is a fair price.
I know you are joking but the amount of people seriously saying this is embarrassing.Fred v2?![]()
The year Atalanta won the Europa League, I remember him playing very well against Liverpool over both legs. Seemed the best midfielder on the pitch. He has been very good in Italy, but anyone saw him or an idea on how he played against English teams in Champions League or Europa league
And no one went for him at 60million because he's probably not a 60 million player.Atlanta demand £60m + for Ederson last summer. So an almost £26m discount is a fair price.

Who do you think would pay that?We might get around 30m for Ugarte so we are not spending too much of our budget on him
Why not? Some Turkish or other British clubWho do you think would pay that?
You are right, but for sure he is a more than 35m player with the way market works nowAnd no one went for him at 60million because he's probably not a 60 million player.
Imagine demanding 100 million for Ugarte, and selling him for 30 million next summer. 70 million discount.
I just think he's shown himself to be very limited as a player, and we are in a bad negotiating position. He's virtually worthless to us, and £30m isn't even that far from what we paid. I'd expect us to get something like £15-20m, maybe with some upsides. But let's see - hope you are right. Why not? Some Turkish or other British club
£30m might be pushing but 25 should be doable. He's not as bad as all that. He would be expected to have a semi decent WC and then there will be interest.Who do you think would pay that?
He was exceptional against Arsenal I think. The days Capello quoted him as "out of this world"He has been very good in Italy, but anyone saw him or an idea on how he played against English teams in Champions League or

Good to hear, sometimes these kind of transfers looks underwhelming can be a huge success. hope he can do well here. The year Atalanta won the Europa League, I remember him playing very well against Liverpool over both legs. Seemed the best midfielder on the pitch.
Is 28 the new 30 now?27 next month. Has the physical peak of the modern player changed or is it reasonable to think his physical attributes may start declining after a season or two?
Depends on who we buy but I doubt it.I think he's gonna surprised alot of people. I can see him being the main partner for Mainoo by the end of the season.
