Yeah, Adu is a poor example. The one 16 year old I want is Cherki. He has Brazilian Ronaldo's feet. He probably won't have the same athleticism though which just highlights just how insane of a talent Ronaldo was.
Is he the kid who signed for OL, with the porn 'stache?

We’ve just spent 10 million on a French teenager, where on Earth have you got this idea in your head from?
That deal was 6 months to a year in the making. All our other signings have been players from the UK Maguire / Wan Bissaka / Dan James. Other player we were interested in were Sancho and Longstaff (both English).

I wasn't serious when I made that comment. But I do have facts to back up my sarcastic comment.

That's not how nationality works and he is the only one deciding what his nationalities are. The only thing that is sure is that he is born in Angola and spent 15 of his 16 years in France, if he wants it he has a right to french citizenship.
He's in the process of getting French citizenship. That's why he hasn't featured for France underage sides.

You don't even need citizenship to play for youth sides in most games.

Alphonso Davies played for us without being a Canadian citizen, as have many others for other countries.

It depends on federations policies I guess. Nowadays in France, you need the citizenship since people complained about it in Rugby.

You need to have it for actual tournaments which is why England were without 2/3 of their players for the u17 Euros

Yes but a large amount of youth fixtures aren't official tournaments so it isn't a reason for him not being included in an u16s national side who don't even play official tournaments.

People complained about youth rugby players not obtaining citizenship yet? What a bizarrely specific to complain about.
No, they complained about rugby players playing for France without being nationals.

Well he really exploded in the scene last season when he was an u17 not an u16 so it partially explains why he wasn't involved in a group that were trying to qualify for the u17 world cup via the European Championships

Looks a very good player, hopefully he gets a full season of games in Ligue 1 to develop and then doesn't move too soon. Easy for his development to get blown of course if he ends up on the bench at a big club or gets too much money too soon and isn't used to it.

Side note, if PSG are going to be unsettled by Neymar transfer debacle this year, might actually be quite a good season to watch Ligue 1, not just a forgone conclusion like last few years.

How good is he? I am yet to see him play. Pretty impressive feat that.
He plays very maturely for his age, has a good range of passing, and very few games played. Let's see how he develops first, especially when he's being marked more closely as he makes a name in the league.

Got to see this lad live on Saturday (Brest vs Rennes) and while he didn't quite have a performance that wold suggest he was August's player of the month, I was still impressed at what I had seen from a 16 year old. The maturity in his play is what surprised me the most. He seemed to be operating in a type of deep lying playmaker type role from the game I saw (not sure if this is where he usually plays) and he did very well. Showed a very good range of passing, including a couple of very nice passes. He was always open for the pass and quite often came deep to get it from his center-backs or goalkeeper. He was demanding the ball from his team-mates at times, even having a go at his keeper for not releasing the ball to him at one point.

Wasn't a great match (ended 0-0 but with a big VAR controversy) but I thought he was of the highlights, particularly in the first half. He certainly didn't look out of place on the pitch. Probably one of the taller players in that game, and nothing I saw in his game suggested immaturity. Again, nothing outstanding in that game but a solid performance and very impressive when you consider his age.

Just watched the youtube video, I don't think I've ever seen someone that age getting stuck in like that. Impressive.

He's a big talent but his debut for France is meaningless. That France u21 side is great but incredibly lazy, they should be beating that Georgia side around 5-0 easily. It's a terrible game to judge him in, almost anyone would look great in that role for them. Georgia u21s are really poor, all of his league games are a much better way to judge him.

Agreed. His MOTM performance against PSG was more impressive.

It just shows though how advanced he is for his age that he looks so complete as a player. He’s got everything.

Reminds me a bit of Wilshere in those clips from U21 game, maybe it’s just the left foot.

Agree as well, a lot of the smaller nations are very weak in age group football because a small pool of talent is narrowed even further by the age group restriction. Many of these sides camp inside their own box so you can play almost anyone at the base of midfield. I watched England u21 against Albania the other day and even when they were losing the game 2-0 Albania wouldn't abandon their ultra defensive style.

Much love for the thrilling exchanges on the kid's nationality ( -_- ) where's your breakdowns on him!?

How is he rated by yourselves, and in France as a whole?

He a player United could do with or is he [way] too wet behind the years for such a leap?
