Will be interesting to see if any of the tour lads play in this one! Could be good experience for them!

Completely disagree with PL academies being in this but anyway... what are the rules regarding eligibility?

Assume Gomes, Chong and Greenwood will play. Perhaps Dalot will play at right back.

Will Ole have any say on who plays? Assume he’d want Lee Grant to get 90 minutes in a competitive game.

    According the the united website....

"The rules are a little complicated but state we must have at least six of the starting XI aged 21 or under by 30 June this year, and no more than two players who are over 21 and have made more than 40 appearances for the first team (either in the XI or as a playing substitute) - again, as of 30 June. "

According to those rules, I reckon Sanchez qualifies ;)

I can't complain. I get to watch more of Gomes, Laird, Garner, and O'Connor.

    Looking forward to this.

Can watch youth games knowing full well they have a chance to be seen in the first team with Butt and Ole (phelan too) in charge

Work in Rotherham was confused when I was walking to the station only to meet a group of pissed middle aged men singing the Maguire song.

    Laird looks a powerful runner.

Could have scored 2 already here. Rotherham had a chance too.

I like that they have the same squad numbers as they most probably will have in the first team, as well as the same formation.

Yeah. Struggling to deal with physicality but playing some good football.

    U23s are also playing 4-2-3-1.

Pretty even game so far. They are roughing up our lads a little bit. Chong should have scored though.

Its good that they are getting kicked a bit - something they have to get used to

This game is infinitely more useful than the U23 league! Really enjoying seeing the young lads against seasoned pros

Players don't get kicked like that in the Top tier anymore.

Gomes, Garner, and Laird have been our best players. Followed by Chong and Williams.

Not sure what you guys have been watching. It’s been pretty abysmal so far from our lads. Gomes has been probably the best of a poor bunch and that’s not even by saying a lot

    Quality by Gomes that.
Only had it on for five minutes but Garner has impressed me a lot already.
