I read that Raphinha turned down the call up, so how is it fair that he’s not able to play?

2 poor games where he was left to hang out to dry a little bit. People were praising him after Leeds.
It is clear that Fred cannot shine without McTominay, the plaudits he has got have all come when he is playing with McTominay.

It is clear that Fred cannot do a job in CM on his own, he just isn't good enough.

He was hung out to dry? How so? he was the one making passes that led to counter attacks?

he was the one mis controlling a ball that led to Wolves attacks.

How are those mutually exclusive? If he got the call up and didn't go he wouldn't be sitting at home doing nothing.

This is so confusing. Why do Brazil dictate quarantine rules for players arriving in the UK?

Also. Why different durations for some players vs others?
It's not quarantine rule. 3 years ago Irish FA invoked this rule when striker refused call up.

IRISH FA INVOKES FIFA FIVE-DAY RULE OVER ABSENT STRIKER KYLE LAFFERTY

The statement read: “The Irish FA has written to Rangers FC regarding Kyle Lafferty who was selected in the Northern Ireland squad for the UEFA Nations League matches against Austria and Bosnia & Herzegovina on 12 and 15 October 2018 respectively.
“As the player did not comply with the association’s call up, the player is in breach and as a result, the association is invoking the FIFA regulation (FIFA regulations for the status and transfer of players, annexe 1, section 5).
“This states that ‘the player is not entitled to play for the club with which he is registered during the period for which he has been released or should have been released pursuant to the provisions of this annexe.
“This restriction on playing for the club shall, moreover, be prolonged by five days in the event that the player, for whatsoever reason, did not wish to or was unable to comply with the call-up’.”

Explain to me the purpose of it then

Edit - I assumed it was covid/isolation shite. Just petty shite instead.

Oh right. It’s punishment for not travelling. So fecking crazy to use this rule during a pandemic. The Brazilian FA is a mess.
Yeah, it's like we are dealing with robots here with only binary answers.

Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
I get why they want to prevent clubs/players from dropping out of international games with "injuries" that are mysteriously cured in time for the next league game but this isn't that.

The likes of Silva and Cavani were pissed off they couldn't travel, now there's a chance they get punished?

Maybe they should end this while "retiring" from international football too.

You can retire when you're 70

Seems very punitive. FIFA are responsible for this mess. Internationals during this pandemic is such a moronic idea.

Football associations should be paying the clubs for taking their players and disrupting their season year after year.

Wait… first they couldn’t travel due to Brazil‘s covid quarantine rules and now Brazil is punishing them for not traveling?

The Brazilian FA want to punish players for not playing in a home fixture which was interrupted mid-game because they were unable to ensure both teams were safe to play the game. Fecking morons.
If you put it like that, this five day thing seems frivolous. Hope FIFA tell them to do one

What happens if they play? Will they get fined the moment they return to Brazil? Will Bolsonaro personally banish them from the country?

He was hung out to dry in the sense that we already knew his limitations and the fact that he isn't suited to a role as a solo holding midfielder.

Also to those saying thank god Fred is out. Watch Shelvey and Longstaff dominate a midfield of Pogba and Matic again and create chance after chance.
Lads it's Newcastle.

I genuinely wouldn’t care if they scrapped international football altogether at this point.
The summer tournaments are still good, but the rest of it just feels an utter procession.

Seeing England batter some miniscule country 4 or 5-0 nil every game round is utterly pointless, and just means someone like Kane will end up on 100 international goals, as opposed to the 50 or so Lineker and the like got.

Stopping our league for 2 weeks, and then them at other times cramming in 4 or 5 games over 2 weeks is nothing short of ludicrous too.

VdB Should be getting a chance, but expect to see a Matic and Pogba pairing in a 4-2-3-1.
