Do I need to rewatch Breaking Bad for seeing this? It's been few years.
Not really they recap the important stuff at the start.

It was ok nout special but enjoyable enough and an easy enough watch. Wasn't needed at all like people say.

Jeez, that guy needs to chill out a bit

I can understand his overall point but it was still very enjoyable and definitely did not tarnish the series as a whole as he seems to think.

1 star is ridiculous.
Probably “The Wire” fan

Just finished watching it, it was a decent watch for a couple of hours, I liked the flashbacks to what we didn't see and there were some good scenes one on one scenes too. I like the fact they didn't overkill it with music + montages like they used to in BB and BCS all the time. That was always annoying. Just shows you what 6 years can do to you though, most characters have aged quicker than Ole has since his Cardiff days.

Wow are people overrating this. Was expecting some amazing shit and all I got was an okayish movie - it's like 2 BB episodes mashed together with too much filler.

I was actually hoping it'd just be like two BB episodes mashed together :-)

So was happy

It is really an extended episode or two stitched up into one rather than a movie of sorts. Overall was done well done and is meant strictly for BB fans. I think some people thought it would expand BB universe but it decided to play it safe and just use the characters and tropes already established to give closure to Jesse's story.

Imagine being Todd's actor and a load of the internet saying "Wow, he got fat."

What a shit start to the weekend for that guy.

Bit pointless really. I get that Jesse got a better ending, but the whole thing felt a little bit empty and slow in the end, without a whole lot actually happening. It was an ok watch, but as movies go not really that great.

Dig up stupid!
Enjoyable but largely pointless.
As an episode of a TV show it'd be excellent and I'd be looking forward to next weeks episode.
As a standalone film I'm not sure it really delivers anything substantial enough.
Still, good to have more BB

It may have been pointless but I'd sit through two hours of that over two hours of Better Call Saul any day.

Did you give up on BCS?

I thought it really got going in the last season and the way it ended really seemed like the next season will be what everyone has been waiting for.

It did feel a bit flat to me although in fairness the original TV series ended six years ago. I was saying to the missis that it would have been be a good idea to watch season five before watching "El Camino". Still as a fan it was nice to see things wrapped up. Sad to hear that Robert Forster who played Ed passed away yesterday.

Read on the twitter that he couldn't lose the weight as he was filming a different role around the same time. He's in the latest rock movie that's about to come out so could well be that. He's a great actor though. And on that, always amazed Aaron Paul didn't become a superstar after breaking bad, he's so good.

This is really just rambling tbh and I'm being crazy pedantic, but some random thoughts:

(Spoilers)
1. Todd's weight gain. Nothing major but it actually was distracting. Funny how he first appeared with that view from Jesse's cage, almost as if they were trying to slowly show us his physique in a way that would maybe make us not notice it as much.

2. The shootout. Was a bit daft. You could say the guy had shown previous interest in gambling, but that bet he made with Uncle Jack was instigated by Uncle Jack wasn't it? And the aiming from the second guy after the duel, but I guess cocaine was at play.

3. Mike told him to go to Alaska, which is where he ended up. But I was sure that one of the main rules from the disappear-er (and he clearly abides by his own rules very much so given he wouldn't knock off $1,800) was that you get absolutely no say in where you end up. I guess we just assume it was a happy coincidence?

4. Walt's scene. It was cool to see him again in a flashback and I get the topic of conversation was about starting over which is apt, but I feel like it just lacked something. I feel like if you gave any serious BB fan the chance to write that scene, we could've all written something about as good or as original as that.

5. Probably an unpopular opinion, but I would've liked to see a clip of Marie / Skylar / Walt Jr. Maybe on the news? I can't remember what their last few scenes looked like in BB tbh, but I would've just liked to see them with their world turned completely upside down. Maybe even a news clip about how an immediate family member of Walt had committed suicide, or been admitted into an institution. I just think there may have been scope to do something.

6. Jesse went from being utterly broken to fairly strong and steel-like really quickly. He pulled the gun on his friends and was having flashbacks in the shower, then he kind of came out a new man. But to be fair, he clearly didn't value his life that much and there was evidence of that throughout.

7. Jesse was headed to a small Alaskan town with a population of I think like 1,800 people, surely one of them has seen the news and would recognize him? Or again do we assume he's going to be staying by himself in the middle of nowhere.

It was decent but it feels like something that was done because Netflix threw disgusting amounts of money at the people involved and they all thought "Fine..."

Couldn't you say that about any film?

Endgame was decent but it feels like something that was done because Disney threw disgusting amounts of money at the people involved and they all thought "Fine..."

most films yeah

I wouldn't mind Netflix throwing disgusting amounts of money at them to make a Jesse spin-off series

Might as well put your version here then ;)

Film was alrite. I'll allow it happening. Not needed but fairly decent closure.

It probably fine and pretty enjoyable in parts, but not only was it not needed I felt like it diminished from what was a pretty perfect ending for the show to add very, very little.

I was looking forward to this. I wanted more clarity over what happened to Jesse. But was a bit disappointed. Main gripe is the constant flashbacks.

I’d have passed this off as a Breaking Bad special more than a movie

It was really pointless and pretty dull. I don’t think the breaking bad format carried over well as a movie (well it might have but this felt like two slow breaking bad episodes) and there was no real tension for me. Some of the old hallmarks were there (excellent cinematography as usual) but it lacked the punch of the series. The bit towards the end was really stupid too.

Nice to know Jesse made it out okay .. but I feel like we didn’t need to and that was kind of implied anyway?

Enjoyed it. Was interesting to follow on from the end of the series from Jesse's perspective and see his personal journey reach a closure. Agree with those that say that it wasn't really a necessity but at the same time I feel that Jesse was a brilliant enough character and strong enough arc I've the course of the show itself to warrant some extra focus and attention. And returning to the BB world and witting is always great. Loved the scene at with Jesse and the chap at the store. At the same time, it's less of a proper film, and more of a prologue and should be marketed/seen in that light. A few characters here and there really had me scratching my head as to whwther I've seen them before, or not.

About sums up my feelings exactly. Enjoyed it but I saw it more as an extended regular Breaking Bad episode. Which is good when you think about it because it must be difficult re capturing some of the feel of the show years later. Only thing I wish it had was some kind of cliffhanger. There was none.

Enjoyed it, pretty much what I expected. A few too many flashbacks, particularly the first hour but a good ending to the BB story.

Well that was a pointless waste of 2hrs. All that, just to watch Jesse escape. Even though we didn't really need it. We already know he escaped and didn't need the details. This movie added nothing. What a disappointment. The last 30 mins were entertaining. Nice to see WW though.

Why would you watch the film without having seen the show first? The movie is a clear follow-on from the show, of course you wouldn't enjoy it.
