No one gives a feck about City.
There’s too many of these posts to count. I’ll ask you this: how many 10 - 25 year olds (big range) have you spoken to about City and what they think about them and what they stand for? Too many here are nowhere near the demographic and are unwilling to take on the perception that they might have.
City are many things to many people. Most of us outside that demographic are disgusted by them and what they’re allowed to get away with, but for those who grew up or are growing up watching Pep and City, they are starstruck and idealise the whole City story in the way they have been brainwashed to do - you know, that bit where City’s crimes and allegations are swept under the rug by a fearful and/or in cahoots media pack who push every positive narrative about City and their rise to the top. Propaganda is real and it’s there to do exactly the job it’s done on that demographic, a demographic we’re trying to buy players from, who don’t see either City or United as older folk do and have faded or no memories of us being the dominant force we were. Success is the only way to truly capture young hearts and minds again - them getting their Fergie, their Ronaldo, Rooney, Keane etc. in the interim, we’ve got a job on to convince hot talent to come here over their concept of a dominant force. So when older fans call them all the names under the sun, justifiably, know it has little to no value to those who have grown up in the bubble of City’s era, how can it?
All we get in tweets is nonsense that incites fans and has them take things as gospel - there’s been no official word from the player or his camp, yet people are dead certain they know his preference, and it seems to belie logic thst things may still be up in the air, especially so with him almost certainly not entertaining the distraction until after the World Cup where all his options will be on the table and clubs that currently have no interest in him might throw their hat into the ring.
Posters don’t seem to ask why a player would work against his own interests and potentially miss out on an astronomical windfall by committing to anyone early when the biggest showcase in the sport is on his doorstep; if he’s the talent everyone thinks he is, his people will want to strike at the apex of his earning potential, which is not a few weeks before the World Cup even starts. The only logistical way that is not the case is if a club is utterly desperate to get him in and secure his services and are willing to pay a premium to do so, which could well happen, but again, a good team around him will have the scope to think things could improve further still for their client and not entertain that. I don’t think Eliot Anderson is marquee enough for even City to do that with; that kind of treatment is reserved for bona fide, proven stars, not players who can’t be called the best in the league/Europe yet, unless they are sure things. I am not sure anyone thinks Anderson belongs to that category/calibre, yet.
