What makes you say he is a "marginal improvement" over Fernandes or Scott ?

IMO, he is significantly better than both. Go look at his stats his central midfield stats this season......

Touches - 1st.
Passes completed - 1st
most take ons attempted - 1st
most take ons completed - 1st
Ball Recoveries - 1st
Duels won - 1st
Possession won in the attacking third - 1st
Possession won in the middle third - 1st
Possession won in the defensive third - 1st

And that is before getting into the "eye test" which shows you just how good he is.
I'm not denying he's significantly better, however he wants City due to us being shite when he was younger so that's it

If City have bid then they will get him. The player has probably indicated that he wants to join them.

Is that the reason?

Or he just thinks City are more equipped to compete for trophies than we are?

Or do we even know if he has a personal preference?

Or is is just that United are not going to get near the Marinakis asking price, when we have multiple positions of need, leaving City in a one team race?

I dont think we were ever in at the Marinakis asking price, meaning it was always a one horse race.
We might have been had we already got a strong midfield and were looking for that centre piece to complete it

Yeah and 100m is just too much for him. We are not in the state where we can get this transfer done. We can make do with more 50-60m signings, get us more competitive and then push for big signings later on. Follow the Arsenal model.

They are more equipped due to the generally shady way they do business, so if he wants to be part of that poisonous plastic club then he's not for us

This. Same as how I felt with Liverpool growing up in the 90s and entering my teens in the 2000s. I'd heard about their historical period of dominance, but it felt very far in the past and I'd not witnessed any of it. I'm guessing that Liverpool fans back then were saying the same as we are now: we're the bigger club, still have the pull because of who we are, etc, when in reality our peak was decades ago and today's younger players weren't even born then.
Exactly this. Man Shitty had won the league 7 times and runners up about 3 times since we last won it. This sort of domination would exactly be how it feels like to be a Man Utd fan back in 2010s. Man Utd right now looks like a has been club that has been madly mismanaged over the last decade, and just appointed their ex player like what Liverpool used to do appointing the likes of Kenny Daglish.

If Anderson moves to Man Shitty I hope they get relegated over their 115 charges and we get him on the cheap during the inevitable fire sale.

Yeah exactly but unfortunately won't stop toys flying out of prams on the likes of toxic stand and other channels

Would love him to go there and they get made an example of, however unfortunately authorities gutless

He’s set for city, they will eventually pay over £100 million given they’ve done it for lesser talents already.

Annoying we will never know if INEOS would have matched it had we already got Arsenal like squad in place

Or we are not paying the same salaries. We are fourth or fifth in the league in terms of paying salaries. Since the new club structure 2 years ago we haven't offered any newcomer player more than 200k a week, and city will certainly offer him more than that.

More money and a better chance of winning trophies. Hes a Newcastle fan so there's no emotional attachment there. He will look at city just like players looked at us in the 90s or 00s.

United can’t miss out on yet another midfielder.

Missed out on Rice & Bellingham the last few years before their moves to their current clubs. Can’t miss out on yet another one.

We can and we will. Our rebuild isn’t going to live or die on one player. Chelsea spent £115m on a CM and look at the season they just had.

We have tried to bring our Salary structure in line with what this team was achieving , we were basically paying wages of title challenging squad to Europa Level team I have no doubt we would definitely pay 200 k + wages once we are regular Champions league Club for the right players .

He is not fit to lace Roy Keane's boot .
And plenty said Keane wouldn't be fit to lace Robsons boots. I dont think he will get close to Keane but acting like hes not going to be top class because hes going to city over us is rawk delusions. "Not that good anyway, didn't really want him"

Calm down mate just because somebody doesn't rate a player highly to believe their Club should spend 100 m or above doesn't make them delusional and it has nothing to do with him going to City so stop spouting nonsense .

Rodwell was never ranked 1st for most mf metrics in the Premier league. More likely the new roy Keane than the new jack rodwell
Yeah the metrics are depressingly elite unfortunately, if only we hadn't been so utterly shite for the last decade he may have wanted us instead.

I hope there are other clubs in for him, if only to drive the price up until inevitably City outbid the opposition.

He's too expensive for us, I made my peace with it, but I'd hate it if City somehow got him on a discount price because he "wants" to join them.

The Forest owner is mad enough that City either pay their asking price or Anderson stays I suspect. Remember what happened with Gibbs-White and Tottenham. Plus Anderson renewed his contract didn't he? Not a lot of leverage for City to pull on to drive the price down.

Yes I too have regrettably come to the same conclusion.

City will end up paying the £125mil that forest want. As the The Athletic said yesterday, he's been earmarked as Bernardo Silva's replacement. Those are huge boots to fill.

Would be interesting to know who their backup option to Anderson is.

I'm glad we are getting involved at that price, much rather we carry on with the smarter priced acquisitions we seem to be going for.

I don't believe for a second they'd be going for him unless you lot were sniffing around.

But at least this price will set the yardstick in terms of other transfers this summer.

It was rumoured that the deal will be concluded with a record transfer more than Rice's transfer. It will be easily more than 110m.

With this price, I rather we get 2 solid CM in Fernandes and Baleba for the same price.

His salary will also be huge probably more than 300K p/w. Again, we can pay for this salary to 2 solid CM.

Very rare to see a bid being reported but no one knows what the amount is, what kind of corruption is this

You have compared him to Jack Rodwell and I'm the one spouting nonsense?

I'm not even that concerned if we miss out on him, I will be happy with Fernandes and Scott, but I can appreciate hes a top player who would've been a brilliant signing for us.
